In a word - Squeeeeee!

Here it is - finally - the audiobook of Take a Chance on Me! Originally self-published as 'Hawaiian Affair' (and followed by Hawaiian Escape and Hawaiian Retreat as they are called at the moment on Amazon) this is my first finished novel, and for three years people have been asking when the Audiobook would be out. Well here it is!

I devour audiobooks, if you didn't know already. Every week I'm listening to hours and hours of stories and non-fiction in the car, and whilst cooking and gardening and sometimes even whilst walking the dogs. I've listened to/read more books in the past three years than I have in the past decade, thanks to multi-tasking. So it is with great pleasure that I announce that TACOM is now on audible.

I was delighted when Lyn my publisher told me that Howes Audio had bought the rights to make the audiobook and even more delighted to chat to talented narrator Antonia Beamish who told me she loved my (ahem) steamy scenes - 'you're very good at writing the sex scenes, Miss Flint' she said. Lol. That's one of the reasons I was happier for someone else to read my books, I have to say.

So do enjoy it and let me know what you think!

Get it here on amazon - with 123 five star reviews. If you read Hawaiian Affair, this version is a little different so you might enjoy this too. Let me know what you think - just email me This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

You may or may not know that I am published with UK independent publisher Choc Lit, and my very first novel with them, Take a Chance on Me, became a top 50 best selling e book last year. My ambition of a lifetime was fulfilled at Christmas, when it went into bookshops including WH Smith travel, where it reached number 79 in the charts. It was such a pleasure to see my book on a proper bookshop shelf, via a proper publisher.

Well the latest news is that Lyn my lovely publisher has now sold the French rights to a company who will be doing the translation into French! That has finally made me feel like a proper author :-)

Previously she informed me that Antonia Beamish would be narrating, for Howes. Their Wholebook Audio is huge and you will be able to get it on CD as well as download eg via audible. Antonia has an excellent voice and I was thrilled to talk to her on the phone - which according to the Crimefest panel from audible, is quite rare.

now available - full report is here

Finally a look ahead. My next book will be the sister;s story. There is a prequel called Hawaiian Escape on Amazon which takes you into the past before Take a

Chance on Me happened. So my current Work in Progress is set just afterwards, and is based on, but NOT IDENTICAL TO, my sequel, previously published as Hawaiian Retreat.

More about Choc Lit here

More about take a chance on me from Amazon here. It now has over 120 five star reviews!

hi all.

so it is now all over and what a lovely time we had. Would you like to see my speech? I'm not comfortable in front of crowds... I know that sounds weird, but give me cameras and a couple of floor staff and a director and producer in my earpiece, any day. I've mentioned this before on here, but I am perpetually shy, I must admit. Anyway, I put my 'telly head' on, and it all seemed to go well. There are a couple of signs I'm nervous, wonder if you can spot them...

click here to watch the video of my 'speech' including extract of Take a Chance on Me novel.

if you'd like to get a copy in paperback you can order from any good bookshop. Chiswick Bookshop still have some copies too. And of course you can pre-order on amazon here.

The next steamy novel - the follow up - called Try it for the First time Club - will be out later this year - that's the plan anyway. Just got to finish it and submit it! lol.

So if you don't know what I'm talking about, this was my book launch party at the wonderful The Chiswick Bookship for TACOM and also for the new Till the Fat Lady Slims 3.0 - tips and tale to Inspire, the companion to TTFLS 2.0. (both on amazon - the new one is on pre-order - go here) It was World Cancer Day and the profits from book 3.0 are going to Medical Detection Dogs Early Prostate Cancer studies.

I was thrilled so many turned up. If you look at the pics, you will see tons of lovely people, and about half bought books which was really nice. The rest mostly have it already, lol. Go here on Facebook page to see over 30 pics of the big night.

So now that's over, it's back down to business with cracking on with the next one, and for that reason I'm off all next week, using up annual leave before business year ends.

I'm planning some serious relaxation - it's been so hectic lately I can't believe how fast time is flying.

By the way, I also had a major 'TiFFT' of my own this week - going for the first time inside Speaker's House - want to see a peek? Oh ok then...

click here to see inside Speaker's house at the MDD event.

This was for Medical Detection Dogs - my charity for which I''m a fundraising ambassador. It was a big get together explaining what the dogs do and one little lad was also very heart-string-pulling with his own little Medical Alert Dog, called Domino. Little Archie has serious 'brittle'  Type 1 Diabetes and Domino now knows when his blood sugars are too low or high. Before that his mum and dad couldn't even sleep through the night in case he went into a coma.

Here's a little of his mum Jane's speech - click here

It's a leveller, isn't it? Kind of makes it not possible to complain about our own lives. 'I'm tired.' 'why?' 'because I stayed up too late...' Er.... You get my drift.

Here are lots more photos as well, on my Facebook page here.

Dr Claire Guest is the founder and works tirelessly to spread the word about their word. She treats others so often, I'd love to treat her, and her lovely little spaniel Tangle, the very first cancer detection dog, died recently sadly. he was very old but such a star. Anyway since Claire loves the portrait of her other dog Daisy, on her wall, we'd love to get the same artist to do it again but of Tangle. If you feel kind and would like to go on just Giving to help, just click here.

STOP PRESS - the companion to ttfls 2.0 is now available on pre-order on amazon for kindle or kindle app, paperback also out 20th Feb - how to preorder it here.

THE BIG SHORT

You know when I went away from QVC? Well I worked for several years in the health food industry – bottled energised water, omega threes. Then I hopped over to work as a manager in the financial industry, (my background was accounting and finance before media) and with my impeccable timing, I did so JUST as the financial crisis was looming. Three redundancies later and I was training myself to be an operations manager but the first job I got for a company who wanted my professional PRINCE 2 qualification, was as a manager at a shopping channel (Bid, now defunct too) and they had me back on air by Xmas. So I was well-placed when QVC came calling the following summer. Anyway – that’s the short version of my 9 years away from QVC.

In the middle of it, the unprecedented fall from grace of the banks happened, and I was on the inside looking out, watching more and more people get laid off all around me, scrabbling to get my team’s mortgage applications through before the deadlines closed with guillotine-efficiency, hoping our sub-prime mortgage customers made it through before it was too late. By summer 2008, it was too late for most of them and mortgage lending ground to a halt. Worldwide.

Well a small group of people spotted that the bubble was going to burst and bet that it would happen – in a form of insurance bet called a ‘big short.’ And this week, I went to see the film that’s taken this long to be released.

WATCH – the BEST BEST film I’ve seen in ages – The Big Short! OMG it was so good I already want to see it again. Ace performances from Steve Carell, Christian Bale (Oscar winning if ever there was, from both), Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and one of my faves, Rafe Spall, memorable and funny as ever also starred. And really really clever fast-paced directing which intersperses snippets of life in the mid-2000s as the housing crisis exploded and the world changed forever. Loved it. Of course, I worked in the financial industry for a few years and was in the middle of the crash, so it was especially poignant to me. 9 and a quarter out of ten – one of the highest ever.

It's one of those rare films that just make me want to rave about it and urge you to go see it!

Here’s the link to the trailer – do feel free to let me know if you have a big crash story of your own!

And here’s a brilliant interview with cast and creators – so interesting! Enjoy. Let me know if you see it, just click ‘reply.’

Book Launch Party – so here’s the invite to my official book launch party – can you come? It’s at the Chiswick Bookshop (that’s what it’s called) at 12, Turnham Green Terrace, W41QP, tel 0208 9948020 if you have questions about the venue. It’s a lovely little bookshop to peruse whilst you wait for things to begin! Or come help me with the twiglets… lol.

Come along on Thursday 4th  between 5 and 7.30 – for a reading, a signing and some wine and nibbles! I’d love to see you there? Just reply to this email and tell me if you can. OR GO TO THE FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE AND CLICK 'GOING' - HERE.

My lovely steamy Choc Lit romance ‘Take a Chance on Me’ will be on offer in a signed paperback and there’ll also be a preview of my BRAND NEW ttfls book - a follow up to my semi-autobiographical weight loss book. The new one is called  Till the Fat Lady Slims – version 3.0 Tips and Tales to Inspire. (Here’s version 2.0 on Amazon now if you haven’t got it yet.) Dawn Allen, the lady who lost six and a half stone in a year and says Freedom Eating changed her life, will be at the launch party as well as lots of other QVC faces, including Catherine, Alison Keenan, Craig and Gill Gauntlett and I’d love to hear from you if you can come too? (STOP PRESS - HOW TO ORDER A SIGNED COPY OVER THE PHONE! Just call Emily at the Chiswick Bookshop and she will help make it happen. 0208 994 8020)

Of course I'll be donating the profits to my lovely charity Medical Detection Dogs. And Christina from MDD will also be there on the night. Talking of MDD :

Star struck I was kinda star struck, a bit, to this week be tweeted by Deborah Meaden from Dragon’s Den herself! She’d just been to the Medical Detection Dogs HQ – and was so impressed. I only hope they can raise the funds they need soon enough to help train another dog to do the prostate cancer detection work that impressed Deborah so much. I you can spare a fiver or so towards it, click here.

Here’s the tweet – squeee!

Finally – a cheeky sneaky puppy video which made me smile. I know I should have rushed over sooner to help Daisy out of her predicament, after wrapping herself up in her microfibre towel a bit toooo well… but… well watch it and you’ll see why… And no she wasn’t unhappy about it – watch her reaction!

Anyway – this week’s Read it Write it Sell it book blog (click here) has the John Grisham novel ‘Gray Mountain’ which I’m enjoying, as the Book of the Week this week. And more about the fab book launch party I’m having.

And Back to You blog (click here) is all about why some people can lose weight eating certain foods and some people can’t; and the relationshiop between that and... yes you've guessed it, gut bacteria - the mot du jour! Plus the links to the Yankee candle Q&A with lovely guest Rosa, plus as usual Bruce’s fab Bodyblade Q&A.

Finally don’t forget my new QVC blog, out Friday 29th, will have a big competition – someone will be picked at random to win none other than a QVC Beauty Bash Goodie Bag! All you need to do is leave a comment on that blog and you’ll be entered – but it has to be on the blog itself. You'll also read all about the fab The Trouble with Goats and Sheep book launch party I attended for my author friend Joanna Cannon last night too!

(Alternatively if you’re really quick the odds may be better in the Friday Webchat competition which I will have on our QVC Facebook page during my final webchat of this run – I’m letting someone else take over. Go here to our QVC Facebook page and look for the post which goes live Friday lunchtime - ENTER BEFORE 7PM.)

Good luck if you take part in the big new Beauty Bash Goodie Bag Competition! And maybe I'll see you on Thursday next week in The Chiswick Bookshop?

Needed a cold shower after reading some parts of this BUT was an excellent book. Didn't want to put it down so read it in a couple of sittings. Hope your future books are as good. Well done Debbie.

Apt title for this book as everyone should give it a go, I really enjoyed it and found it very hard to put down. Debbie is a very good story teller and I await further novels from this talented writer with great interest. Go on you know you want to!

Blog riwisi – book of the week

It’s here! One of the best things ever, considering how long I’ve been dreaming of this day – and a super TiFFT* (try it for the first time!) The big news is – my novel is in shops. Yay! This week I got sent the first pic of my novel in a bookshop – how exciting – spotted at the Euston Station WHSmiths-Travel. OMG how proud am I?

‘Take A Chance on Me,’ (TACOM) my steamy romance with over 100 five star reviews on Amazon, has been given the number 79 slot! I’m sooooo proud! Talk about a first! I’m so thankful to my publisher – UK independent Choc Lit – for making this happen. TACOM features the adventures of feisty single mum Sadie and a case of mistaken identity leading to a hot one night stand on a luxury yacht and a race to seal a life-changing deal within 30 days, but stay out of love with hero Mac (think Daniel Craig!) …

It’s the first in my publisher’s ‘Hot Choc’ imprint – probably a couple of dozen shades of grey if you get my meaning! Lol. If you’re near a main train station or airport or other travel outlet do go see what you can find. (Or ask your local bookshop to order it – it’s available from their usual distributors.) Of course this has been many years in the making – five, in fact, has involved the Romantic Novelists’ Association ‘New Writers Scheme’ and lovely Julie Cohen’s writing courses – she’s a master of show not tell and a Richard and Judy book club author.

Anyway hopefully you will enjoy it if you buy it to read! See below for links to other books –  Hawaiian Escape is the prequel and Hawaiian Retreat is the sequel – both on Amazon at the moment, as ebook and paperback. BUT in the summer there will be a new sequel – it’s being revamped and will have a different surprise twist!

If you can’t wait go here on Amazon to order now, or click and collect at your local Smiths’ here.

By enabling you to understand your underlying motivations and anxieties, DETOX YOUR EGO helps you improve the way you go about achieving those goals. DETOX YOUR EGO takes you on a journey of self-discovery, a process that enables you to master your own ego in order to increase your health, happiness and purpose. Psychologist Steven Sylvester's inspiring and ground-breaking approach focuses on a brand new approach to winning. In DETOX YOUR EGO, Sylvester shares for the very first time the seven easy steps to be freer, happier and more successful in your life. DETOX YOUR EGO liberates you to be the best that you can be.

Claudia Sylvester, an ex-colleague from QVC, is married to Steven and says this is a fabulous way of revamping your life. Giving it a kick. Now’s the time to get this book, read it over Christmas and get ready to make it all change in January. Especially if you are waiting till Jan 1st to begin.

Take a Chance on Me

Just heard from my publisher Choc Lit that my first Steamy novel, Take a Chance on Me, is only 99p on eBook till end of July 2015, as part of their Summer Promotion on Amazon! So stock up your kindle/app now!

go here to get Take a Chance on Me on Amazon

TACOM was originally called 'Hawaiian Affair' when I self-published it in 2013, and as such it received over 100 five star reviews.

" You know what they say about mixing business with pleasure …
When the breakdown of her marriage leaves Sadie Turner a single mum, she vows that she will make it on her own. After all, why would a smart businesswoman with a PhD and the prospect of a life-changing deal on the horizon need a man?

But Sadie’s man-ban is tested to the limit when she travels to Monaco to meet her potential investor. There she encounters Mac, a rough and ready playboy billionaire who lives life in the fast lane – and that’s when the real adventure starts!

But Sadie’s heart isn’t the only thing on the line. There’s also the business she’s worked so hard to make a success; the business that could so easily slip out of her grasp if she doesn’t seal the deal within thirty days …

Published under Hot Choc Lit - slightly raised heat level but not erotica!
Previously self-published as Hawaiian Affair. Revised and edited by Choc Lit March 2015
"

Hawaiian Escape

This is the prequel to Take a Chance on Me, but can be read first.

go here to get Hawaiian Escape on Amazon, in eBook or paperback, steamy version or PG version, the first in the Hawaiian Trilogy, originally published as the prequel

"Exciting romantic comedy with intrigue, mystery and a twist in the tale, Hawaiian Escape is a humorous romance with a dash of drama - from the rolling Surrey hills to bustling New York, to an ancient ruin in Tuscany.

Feisty singleton and former international jet-setter Helen Parker’s life is in crisis, and so is her sister Sadie’s. Now Helen has to learn to manifest her own destiny instead of fixing everyone else’s.
Rookie businesswoman Sadie Turner needs help – but is marketing whizz Damian Hugh her knight in shining armour or her nemesis?
With time running out for Sadie, Helen faces the biggest choice of her life so far – to find an escape that could solve everything for one of them – or ruin it all for both. New man, new career, new era. But for whom?"

Hawaiian Retreat

This is the conclusion to Helen's story, and should be read after the other two - whatever order you read the other two in, read this one last!

Go here to get Hawaiian Retreat on Amazon - eBook or paperback

" A disastrous break-up kicks off a year of self-discovery for internationally renowned columnist Helen Parker, as she travels the world in search of ever more exciting thrills. But when her deepest secrets suddenly catch up with her, how long can Helen stay on course to win the ground-breaking Try it For The First Time Club challenge? As romance blooms, Italian passion meets tantric sensuality in a luxurious retreat deep in the Himalayas – but how long for, when a mystery man appears. Will he turn out to be the key to her future or a ghost from her past? With everything resting on the nail-biting grand finale in Hawaii, will her secret stay hidden, or will she risk losing her column, her identity – and her man – forever?  "
