Oh goodness I had some great news this week! Several bits of good news, but some I can’t share yet! But I can say that my Book of the Week next week on my QVC blog will be my writing mentor Julie Cohen’s new release, Dear Thing – and she’s been picked to be on the Richard and Judy list! How exciting! Am so glad. If you can’t wait till next week for more, just go here to get it, Dear Thing by Julie Cohen!

Mills & Boon Video Romance

An old pal I met at a scriptwriting course years ago, author Alison Norrington, facebooked this week to say she’s been working on a new concept for Mills and Boon, to tie in with their 8-book series of romances set in a hotel. Go here for the website and go here to see the first three video blogs of The LoeDown– if you like little mini sagas, you’re not too late to join in! And well done Alison!

In the News – Harper Collins’ Acquisition of Harlequin – including the UK subsidiary, Mills & Boon – how much are Harlequin profits in decline? Jane Friedman explores, including links to some pretty surprising statistics about certain market values over the last 6 years. Click here for Jane Friedman’s blog.

She could feel the vibration throughout her body - the rhythmic drum beat urging the chanting crowd on - nearer and nearer – to the point of no return. Every now and then the embers flared, accompanied by a scream, and the tell-tale ‘tssssst!’ sound.

How the hell did I get myself into this?  Thought Helen, as she broke out in a sweat. She could feel the heat of the fire walk from here – just a few rows from the front now. Soon it would be her turn. And the perspiring bodies either side of her would block her escape. It was now or never…”
