Book of the Week - Christmas at the Comfort Food Cafe
7 December 2016

I had hoped to bring you a book of the week this week which was by Jilly Cooper, but 'Mount' is just 'so so.' I don't mind telling you that I have been using it to go to sleep at bedtime, (not in a nasty way, it's not another Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Wolff, which I listened to about four times and could not tell you what happens!) But Mount is not very gripping. It actually reads like an abridged version sadly, although it's a gentle enough narrative, following the fortunes of the famous Rupert Campbell Black and his stables and the people involved with the 'cut-throat world of flat-racing.' (Makes it sound more exciting than it is, but if you like Jilly's previous books . There were just too many sub plots and not enough dialogue for me. Go here to read more on amazon.

So here is another Christmassy one for you :-) this one caught my eye online and looks lovely, it's second on the list when you put in 'christmas' in the books search on amazon - lovely writing colleague Sue Moorcroft is at the top , by the way, second in kindle store in the UK as we speak - well done Sue!

Christmas at the Comfort Food Café is another in the series about this cosy café from top author Debbie Johnson.

Becca Fletcher has always hated Christmas but she has her reasons for being Little Miss Grinch. Now, though, she can’t avoid her version of ho-ho-hell – because she’s travelling to the Comfort Food Cafe to spend the festive season with her sister Laura and her family. She’s expecting mulled wine, 24-hour Christmas movie marathons and all kinds of very merry torture.

Little does Becca know that the Comfort Food Cafe is like no other place on earth. Perched on a snow-covered hill, it’s a place full of friendship where broken hearts can heal, new love can blossom and where Becca’s Christmas miracle really could happen – if only she can let it…

Inviting readers new and old to pull up a cosy armchair, Christmas at the Comfort Food Cafe is the novella-length follow-up to the 2016 best-seller Summer at the Comfort Food Cafe.

And here's a top accolade - from Sunday Express 'S' Magazine -

"Full of quirky characters, friendship and humour, you will devour this engaging and heartwarming novel in one sitting’ – Sunday Express’ S Magazine"

Lots of good reviews too! Yay. I must admit I love the sound of the write up - just wish it was on audiobook. But am happy to feature it, so many of the reviews are very glowing.
