Book of the Week - Lee Child's Night School
17 November 2016

Now I’m a massive Jack Reacher fan and I’ll take the big guy any way you wanna serve him up, which in this case is a flashback novel based when he was still a Military Cop in the late nineties, when sidekick Neagly was still on the scene. Absolutely fabulous as ever, full of twists and turns and action and come-uppance and revenge and tight situations that Reacher always gets out of, he puts Tom Cruise to shame! (the latest film version of one of Lee's novels is sadly lacking apparently although I'll probably still go see it! lol.)

I have been driving a lot in the car and loving every minute of listening to the fabulous audiobook, read with the usual panache by Jeff Harding, who is the definitive Reacher, for me.

We go back to Germany in 1997 and a plot to sell some sort of mysterious booty in return for a hundred million dollars (probably 200m now!) with all sorts of collusion and Middle Eastern threats ahead of time. I love Reacher as the ex-Military Cop but I also love these novels. I just can't wait for the next one. I guess I'll have to succumb to some of the novellas and flashback stories also available.

Jack Reacher is fresh off a secret mission and a big win. The Army pats him on the back and gives him a medal. And then they send him back to school. It’s a school with only three students: Reacher, an FBI agent, and a CIA analyst. Their assignment? To find that American. And what he’s selling. And to whom. There is serious shit going on, signs of a world gone mad.

love this review too -

"Reacher is unchanged in this 21st of his adventures. He wins all fights, charms all women and outsmarts all rivals, friend or foe. What makes Night School the best of the Reacher novels I've read is that Child has concocted a brilliant plot...battling to save America, or maybe the entire civilised world, from a terrorist plot that is original, engrossing and all too of the best thrillers you'll read this year." (Washington Post)

Roll on the 22nd novel!

I certainly agree with you about Jack Reacher. Tom Cruise is so the wrong choice to play him. I have read all the previous Reacher books. Can't wait to get this one!
