RoNA Nominees 2015 RoNA Nominees 2015

Went to the Romantic Novelists’ Awards Event – RoNAs

My first industry event as a published signed author was Monday night – felt very different, I must say! This is the grand library at One Whitehall Place – can you just about see none other than Barbara Taylor Bradford in the background?! It was a great night, had some lovely chats, including with two of the beta readers, Vanessa and Mary – Vanessa told me she loved Liz Earle. And – can’t get away from it – one of the lovely category WINNERS was Lucy Dillon herself, who told me she leaves QVC on at home for her Bassett Hounds to watch! Lol!

Fab night and loved being part of it. Who knows, maybe one day one of mine will be nominated! Julie Cohen’s was, here she is with me, another author Jean Fullerton (who writes the ‘Call Nurse Millie’ sagas) and Alison May, also with Choc Lit.

Barbara Taylor Bradford presented the awards, which was a huge honour for all concerned since most cited 'A Woman of Substance' as one of their key influences, and she was both funny and delightful, telling everyone, Brucie style, that the star shaped award was because 'you are a star,' and saying at one point in her own inimitable way that 'writing can be hard, but when it goes perfectly right, it's like having a good orgasm. She's 81!

Book of the Week – A Hundred Pieces of Me

So naturally my Book of the Week is one of the winners. Lucy Dillon’s lovely story takes her through the memories associated with the trinkets she is clearing out to make space in her house – with unexpected consequences. The judges loved it and she won the hotly contested Contemporary Romantic Novel category. Already highly reviewed, you can get it here on Amazon, where you'll see it has 4.3 out of 5 average over 106 reviews!

Go to bottom of page to find out more about it and the other winners on the Romantic Novelists Association site – in case you want to add some new authors to your collection! I've already downloaded 'THe Girl Who Came Home' by Hazel Gaynor, with 86 five star reviews, about a young Irish woman on the Titanic, a seamless blend of fact and fiction. My next book on audible, along with Lucy's! Yay!
