Debbie Flint

So off I went to the Charlie Bears Museum opening, on Friday 1st July at the Bearhouse in Launceston. Charlie and Will invited me a few months ago and I was glad to accept, intending to coincide it with seeing my writing pal Alix who lives just 20 mins away in Devon. So off I went!

The best thing about it was seeing the reaction from several QVC customers who came along to say hello, and from little Elspeth who, via the Make a Wish Foundation, got her wish to come see Charlie and have a bear designed.

Once everyone had looked around, we settled down into the little VIP back room, which had been set up party-style to receive little Elspeth and all the VIP guests, their families, and staff.

Charlie gave Elspeth an extra special present - see her reaction here.

Bless Charlie. She and Will are two lovely people that's for sure and I know the project has been close to Charlie's heart for a long while.

Charlie has always had the ambition to open a gallery where our collectors can come and see the retired bears in the fluff - the project has been in process for nearly 3 years with phase 1 opening in October 2015. Charlie's design flair can be seen throughout the museum and it has been very important to her to get it just right and give the wow factor at the turn of every corner right down an to the smallest detail. The museum show cases the majority of the bears Charlie has ever designed and it has been an emotional journey going through all the older designs - she now can't wait to share this with all of our collectors so they can be a part of that journey too.

An amazing venue for Cornwall's newest tourist attraction!

best wishes

Bears Meet MDD Dogs Lovely pals and ‘ambassadets’ Charlie and Will from Charlie Bears visited my charity this week – here they are with a selection of the pooches. They were overwhelmed with emotion seeing what these clever dogs can do, in early cancer detection studies and also by helping owners with serious diseases like diabetes type 1. Will and Charlie said –

If you’d like to donate you can help out with a contribution to another cancer detection dog here

Trip to Milton Keynes HQ for Medical Detection Dogs

Biggest news this week was that I got to meet up with the lovely little MDD trainee assistance alert dog, Derek. I love this little pooch soooo much. Yes, ok I’m a bit broody when it comes to puppies. And hasn’t he grown since our New Year Back to You shows when I saw him last – he’s now 20 weeks old and doing really well. Click the link to my blog for a video chat with his trainer to find out what he beat 7 other dogs at.

So my little sponsored dog is doing very well - here he is in the fabulous video that was created by my lovely mate Mark at our monthly trip to the MDD HQ end of Feb. It tells you more about the charity itself too! click here

Doggy Pup-date 2 I’m so excited to be seeing Derek the Medical Detection Dogs Trainee whom I named, after raising funds for the charity for which I’m an ambassador. He will be at my next visit to the MDD HQ near Milton Keynes and I’m going again on Tuesday with a few more VIPs. More next week. For now, here’s his Oxford TV debut – what a lovely look at the little lad and how he’s progressing! I feel like a proud auntie! Lol.

And don't forget Derek will be with me at Crufts on Friday next week - 11th March in the afternoon! Plus put 10th April in your diary for the Dogs Day Out if you are near Swanbourne in Bucks - more here

exciting news

So it seems the other puppy I'm able to name, will be arriving at the end of March! It may be a little girl. question is, what should I name her?! Let me have your suggestions on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.... I may do a raffle/competition to let someone else choose, and raise some more funds - what do you think?

Regulars will know I’m an ambassador for the charity Medical Detection Dogs, well I’ve been recruiting supercool Ambassadets! Hot on the heels of Patrick from Quacker hosting an online quiz night (another one early December by the way,) I’m thrilled to introduce you to Bones – the limited edition Charlie Bears dog who looks a bit like the pug on our xmas videos! He’s already 100 out of 500 gone, and every bear donates £10 to the charity. Hopefully if any left they’ll come onto QVC at some point, otherwise more info on the Charlie Bears website below. If they all sell out they will raise almost enough money to buy the first freezer! (see previous blogs to find out more!) Go Will and Charlie!
