NEWS

Hello ‘Ohana!’ As Bruce from Bodyblade says! Well, as the countdown continues till my three weeks in China (representing QVC and training presenters there in case you didn’t know already, I go in April,) I spent a nice day with one of my fave people, Bruce Hymanson, doing two new routines for use with your Bodyblade. See below for the info. (Also for more about how to contact Fiona from Decleor, which I mentioned on air, regarding the little email you’ll get with a ‘how to’ clip in if you got the recent TSV bargain.) And of course your regular round up of this week's blogs and news, for those who aren't good with social media! (and those who are!)

Nostalgia IS what it used to be.

I’m loving bringing you the Kids TV nostalgia features in my weekly Friday QVC blogs at the moment. This week sees clips from old Black and White faves from the sixties – see below for link so you too can reminisce over Camberwick Green, Picture Box and so on. Any faves you’d like me to feature in the next few weeks? (Just reply to this email – you’re getting these ‘cos you subscribed to them via my website debbieflint.com BTW. If you ‘reply’ it comes to me not a webbot!) One of mine when I was growing up was Marine Boy – he’ll feature soon. With his dolphin called Flipper… ok no it wasn’t but I remember oxygum, do you?!

Beta Feeding

Finally, there will be some big news for my beta readers in the next few weeks about my next novel – which I’m loving researching – set a hundred years ago and a cross between Mr Selfridge and Call the midwife – kinda. First couple of chapters going out. It's not a romance as such but hopefully will appeal. Keep updated on here to be the first to be able to read it!

Ok, so I’m off now to sleep – I’ll need it, I’m on with Mally for two hours from 5pm tonight! (Sunday 29th), watch out for the 'Gorgois' makeup on QVC later!

See below for my list of latest news, blogs, book updates, how to join groups I mention and the current top Bodyblade Videos.

Have a great weekend!

Decleor

Plus – the Decleor ‘how to’ video that gets emailed out to all customers who bought the latest Today’s Special Value (28th March) sees Fiona and I explaining about what to do with each of the four products. Fab bargain – well done if you got yours! (if you are quick you may be able to ask the operators to add your own email to your account in the hope that you get sent these follow up emails in future.) And if you’d like to contact Fiona to ask her more questions, she’s @fionadecleorUK on Twitter or ‘Decleor on QVC’ on Facebook.

BODYBLADE VIDEOS

The first new one in the list below is the Hampton Court circuit six – it’s a ten second per position, six minute circuit and really helps if you can’t do a full minute at first. A good one to begin with if you already can do each exercise.

Then there is the Willow Tree Super6 Sequence routine – where Bruce took me and Anne through a more balletic/martial-arts-esque routine; shorter but a bit more balance required and quite taxing. A really good variation!

As promised during tonight’s live show on QVC, you’ll also find below the links to the main videos our lovely LA guest did with me over the last six months or so. Plus at the bottom of this page, where to go to join the groups mentioned - where you can see lovely support and encouragement online to keep up the good work this Spring.

Hi all - hope you're having a great weekend!

For the benefit of those not on social media and who didn't see my announcement on air on Friday night, the news is finally out - I'm off to China for three weeks in April! To train QVC presenters there - so I'm very honoured to have been chosen. A mixture of relatives will move in to look after the dogs, water the plants, and allow me to fly away for the longest break I've ever taken from the uk! More than one 'TiFFT' methinks! More news in my latest QVC blog, where you'll also see -

- epicModelFail blooper (funny!)

- talking of flying - videos of me indoor skydiving

- pics from the busiest week ever! inc Debbie Does Dinner once again...

- and sneaky peeks of QVC bargains incl apple, Antler luggage set and Kipling.

go here to read it on qvc website.

What's the longest you've ever been away from home for? My longest previously was a mere two week hol in Crete in '97. I'm lagging behind a bit, really, 'cos my son Brad went to the Far East for two whole months following his finals after uni, and came back a different person, he had such a great time. So it's on my list to do longer trips. BUT nice, comfortable ones, I think - haha! Maybe a lengthy round the world cruise would be my top trip. What would be yours?

Also wanted to just quickly say - if you like reading inspirtional weight loss stories, or love Mally and yankee candles, go here to read this week's back to you blog, where you'll see the transcripts from their Q&A sessions on last Monday's live webchat, plus news of hitting 3000 members in the Back to You Facebook group (here), and more info about sugar again as it hits the news once more.

And the book blog, if you llike finding new authors, is here, where you'll see a lovely Book of the Week from a winner of the Romantic Novelists' Assoc Award for best contemporary romance, Lucy Dillon. Find out her QVC secret by clicking on the link! hehe!

Have a lovely weekend! The countdown is on till I go away - three weeks today! whoo hoo! (Back on air early May.)

What makes a good Audio book narrator?

I don’t know about you but I listen more than I read (long journeys) and find a good narrator can make or break a story. Whilst a great story can be ruined by a bad narrator, a fairly good tale can be ramped up to heady heights of greatness by a superb narration. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, narrating the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaranovitch is one such genius in my opinion, and every character or accent is done in such a way as it seems like you’re listening to an audio drama.

According to the Wall Street Journal as long ago as 2013, audiobooks are exploding in popularity and you may know that Amazon are now able to provide you with a platform to create not only your own eBook (kdp,) and paperback (createspace,) but also via ACX, a route to your own audiobook version of your latest masterpiece too. If you get as far as this stage, then, you may need to carefully consider your choice of narrator. And believe me there are some easy mistakes to make.

For instance, a pretty successful author who mentors indie authors too, recently had to swap to a better narrator; despite interviewing her for a podcast, and hearing all the usual spiel about how to narrate well, the job this narrator did was filled with enough irritating idionsyncracies that I found it impossible to listen to. Fortunately the author agreed, though surprised as the narrator claimed to make a living out of it so seemed promising – but couldn’t deliver what was on the tin. Always get a trial sample of at least the first chapter and ask your Beta Readers (assuming you use them) for their opinion too, before you commit.

So what makes a good narrator? See if you agree with my summary – a good narrator will:

-          always read through the story thoroughly so that their narration, once recorded, does not sound like a ‘first read.’ This avoids cutting sentences in half, changing the meaning completely. A ‘Sunday Times top ten’ female author’s book suffered from this all the way through – it was infuriating. Great readers make it sound as though someone’s just talking to you in a natural way.

-          difficult words will be competently delivered, as opposed to sounding like a teenager trying to cope with Shakespeare. Cloud Atlas was ruined for me by the first narrator having terrible problems with the 1700’s words! Thank goodness they’ve issued another version now, after the success of the film.

-          a sing-song voice will NOT be a feature! If I find myself mimicking the narrator as I drive along, having to rewind as I’ve missed some of the plot, that’s a signal to stop, and find a different book! Good narrators won’t end nearly every sentence with the same ‘tune.’

-          Great, well-practised accents are a joy to hear. Davina Porter, reading the famous Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, is superb at the various Scottish accents, English ones and European ones. A couple of less than perfect Irish and Americans are excused since her delivery of the main story is fab.

-          Good narrators will deliver clear differentiation of voices without the need to resort to extremes. They will not take me out of the story for instance by giving them speech impediments. AAAAAARgh! Typically, I hear female narrators doing male voices badly by hollowing out their throats to give their males some sort of middle England bullish bluster – one narrator sadly did that on a title from a successful commercial women’s fiction author in such a way that each male character got successively more rounded, then she added a sinus problem for good measure. I actually find I am most pleased by men doing women (Lee Child novels by Jeff Harding; Kobna Holdbrook Smith again) than by women doing men, although there are notable exceptions – eg Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy read by Samantha Bond is superb.

-          And the main one would be that a great narrator makes me forget everything but the story itself.

If you have any others, do let me know! And who knows, one day I might be brave enough to practice what I preach and narrate my own and upload them, once I find the right studio producer to work with (I use pro editors/proofers/cover designers too so I expect I’ll use a pro producer for the best quality audio book too.) Although it probably won’t be me if I ever produce an audio version of any of my steamy romance novels – that’s another topic entirely! Even if they’re only a few shades, I’d still rather they be black than grey!

Fancy some weekend reading and some VERY funny bloopers?

Don't know about you but I do love a good funny blooper! As promised in the Jewellery show this week where we launched Ali Young's (beauty expert on QVC) new diamond version of her beautiful domed anniversary ring, I've found the vintage blooper from 1996 and put it in my latest blog, just out.

It includes said classic 'spray in hair' one; and this week's carpet washer blooper from Charlie which has already had 15,000 views and counting! Plus sneaky peeks at Mally and Skechers and Ronnie Nicole TSV bargains. Leave me a comment if you can, on the blog itself. I do so much social media now, my blog comments are a bit low. Thank you!

So click here if you'd like to see all the clips and sneaky peeks - QVC Blog 20th Feb. Just in time for all the yummy weekend bargains too. Enjoy!

Meece Update - further to last week's request for suggestions - I was inundated - thanks so much to everyone. Yes, it's wire wool. At least, that's what Adam the Pest Man recommended too. Fingers crossed!

Unexpected Benefits - some interesting and unexpected results of losing weight through Freedom Eating were being discussed on my Facebook pages following the launch of the Three Month Challenge (3MCFeb) - Anne said she's nearly able to touch her chin with her knee! And Jane said she's able to put her tights on more easily! Little 'Non-Scales-Victories' - NSV's - and I'd love to ask you a question - have you had any? Let me know by pressing 'reply.'

Oh and by the way, Monday's webchats were a bit of a record! Both Tova herself, plus Adele from SBC, plus Kala from Ego, plus Bruce from Bodyblade, all talking with us live online between 8-9pm. Their Q&A's are listed on my Monday Back to You blog 16th Feb. If you click on the link, you'll never guess what you'll find - if you like pasta - an amazing fact about what happens if you eat it reheated. Fascinating, science, isn't it!

Anyway have a lovey week - I'm looking forward to going to the Theatre next week, to see Wicked - I never have before! And a surprise party but I can't say who for!

Best wishes

How lovely it was to go see Adele Parks talking about how to write romance, last week, at Bloomsbury Publishing in London. Althought the content was more for beginners, it was a nice experience meeting her. Am currently enjoying 'Spare Brides' about the 2m 'excess women' without husbands after WW1 - perfect for my research phase for my next big project French or Dutch. BUT Book of the Week is 'The State We're In' - a bitter sweet romance with several first person narratives covering the life-changing flight to Chicago. I' did enjoy it - Adele is a Sunday Times bestselling author and it shows, especially in the clever minimal use of scene setting vocabuary. Clever girl.

Some of Adele's books are on offer currently on Amazon, eg Whatever it Takes is 99p,   go here for more.

She often does talks and you can find out more about her on Facebook and Twitter @adeleparks.

Roses are Red in Paperback. in the next day or so, the anthology will be in paperback for those who hate ebooks! Tova Borgnine Tracie Wright and Helen Murphy, With the Diamonique by TOVA jewellery shows we do a Deco Cufflink (Item 692095) that we sell on QVC. I am not sure if it is currently available but we have done them several times now as this replication of Ernie's favourite cufflinks are always hugely popular.

Tracie Wright thanks you so much for your reply i will check it out

Tova Borgnine Dear Helen, I would highly recommend trying TOVA Signature as it is a clean, fresh, soft yet enticing and mysteriously captivating scent which is unlike any you have ever smelled. By far my most beloved scent that truly will become your Signature.

Helen Murphy Just found the cufflinks which are beautiful

Jackie Springett I agree I love Tova Signature and you feel special wearing it and people ask what you are wearing xx

Tova Borgnine And Helen the Duo is an excellent place to start with my fragrances...Signature is captivating and Nights is the naughty sister scent! Nights is floral with a bit of juiciness and playfulness from the addition of dewy greens, lively florals (Like peonies which are my favourite!) with an effervescent feeling of champagne tickling your nose.

Sharon Harvey I love, love, love Turquoise....it reminds me of carefree holidays..... Aahhhhhhh!

Helen Murphy I love peonies too. Have some in my garden which I planted when my daughter was born. Her godmother bought her a copper apricot rose called Grace which is my daughter's name. Thank you for that recommendation, I love having something different too from everyone else.

Tova Borgnine Andrea Nicole Smart, Hello dear today is just the live Facebook chat I will be on air at QVCUK this Friday in the 9 pm hour, then on Saturday with TOVA Beauty throughout the day then on Sunday (Pre-Academy Awards I will be on for several shows of Diamonique by TOVA Jewellery. Hope you can join us or set the DVR!

Janie Smith Tova do you know if the elephant bracelet will return? I want to get it for my daughter to go with her ring and pendant. Sharon Harvey have to agree Turquoise is scrumptious xxxxxx

Debbie Flint Hello our lovely friend Tova! Hope you're enjoying the chat and looking forward to another return across the pond! Excited for your return! Have a great web chat girls! 20 mins left! xx

Sharon Harvey Isn’t it just

Amanda Marie Jayne Thomas Hello tova, I hope all is well. Will you be bringing out any new perfumes and if so what will they be like? X

Tova Borgnine Hi Janie, The Elephant pieces are some of my favorite as well, I know currently the ring and pendant are available. We will certainly look into maybe bringing back the bracelet.

Helen Murphy It is such a lovely opportunity having these chats thanks for setting them up

Oh thank you Debbie, looking forwarding to making my way to London! I always enjoy these chats and opportunities when I may speak with all of you, regardless of where in the world we all are- amazing that we have this technology and ability!

Tova Borgnine Dear Amanda, We are working on many new products for the coming year, I have not made final decisions on which items will be made as of yet so I don't want to say to much quite yet!

Janie Smith Thank you. My daughter could only afford the ring and necklace at the time. I'd live to treat her she's amazing x

Helen Murphy Do you ever have time to relax? You are such a busy lady!

Lindsey Sweet Do you have time for any hobbies Tova? X

Tova Borgnine Relax? What is that word! Like many of us these days most days are quite active for me as between taking care of business and working on product developments, appearing on the different QVC shows in multiple countries etc...I do find time to spend relaxing and de-stressing. I work out regularly with my trainer which I find really takes away much of the stress from busy days.

Sue Stewart Looking forward to seeing the shows.

Alison Smith Hi Tova, do you think you will ever bring back your bar of soaps. I bought the signature ones a long time ago and loved them. Always thought of you when I used them! Xx

Jackie Springett I will also be watching the shows cannot wait xx

Tova Borgnine Hi Lindsey, One of my favorite hobbies is to collect fragrance bottles. I have done this much of my life as I always found the beauty, craftmanship and artful packaging intriguing.

Amanda Lindberg Please don't ever stop making Signature Tova.. You are a very glamourous lady. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us. X

Debbie Flint The cactine mask was one of my original faves too from Tova's early skin care launch with us many years ago! x

Debbie Flint Hi all just a quick reminder anyone who doesnt know about it, do come join us on the Three month challenge - it starts today - well being, toning and weight loss, read the pinned post on www.facebook.com/3mcFeb for more info. Tonight's new blog on my w...See More

Tova Borgnine I love Signature as much as the women who wear it regularly, I would be lost without it as it is always around, so know that I will always make Signature!

Jackie Springett Yes remember that mask used it myself that seems ages ago x

Tova Borgnine To all here is a link to my blog posting today on QVC, http://blogs.qvcuk.com/bring-home-hollywood-tova/

Helen Murphy Debbie Flint I am going to use Tova's lovely products as my incentives on my three month challenge?

Debbie Flint Tova what routine does your trainer give you? it may inspire the ladies to hear what you do to keep trim! x

Tova Borgnine This weekend I will be celebrating not only being on air in the UK but the pre-celebration leading up to the Oscar's! I will be sharing throughout the weekend some of my favorite Oscar moments with Ernie while we attended. You'll have to stay tuned this weekend but one even includes a naked man.....

Helen Murphy Loving those beautiful bottles.

Amanda Lindberg The bottles look beautiful x

Tova Borgnine Hi Debbie, My trainer and I do Pilates as well as upper/lower body strength training, with a little Cardio (brisk walking) but my key is alternating the routines.

Eeek! They're back! So this week a tiny rodent came visiting and decided that the contents of my lavender wheat bag were better off as his dinner. Eurgh! Now this wouldn't have been so bad except it was located in my BEDROOM! Yuk. So tons of suggestions came flooding in via Facebook - if you have one, let me know. I'd rather not kill them, but mixed reviews about sonic plug ins mean I'll see how things go now I've stuck one in my socket just outside the bathroom. I know they've got to eat, but having experienced an infestation in my garage once, I don't want a repeat. Just 'reply' as your email will come to me, not a spam bot!

(Please note you are getting these newsletters from me as you subscribed - just hit unsubscribe at the bottom if you've changed your mind.)

Free Ebook for Valentine's! Not long to wait - I'll be issuing an extra newsletter to let you know as soon as the freebie is available for your kindle or kindle app - it'll be this Friday 13th, ready for a nice weekend's free reading - six short romantic stories with a twist in the 'tale' - or go to my writing home page on debbieflint.com to see when it's ready! My new story is in it - Fiona's a former A List Celeb who goes on a reality show to find a man - from her Ex-partners! It's called 'Battle of the Exes' (formerly '12 Dates of Ex-mas') and there are three other new stories on there too! Am very excited - hope you will like it!

Three Month Challenge is a Week Away - it begins on 16th February, and all you have to do to register to be part of it is to 'like' the Facebook Page I'll be announcing at the weekend - go here to get the links on 14th!

Funniest blooper - I bet the blooper featured on my latest QVC blog makes it on to It'll be Alright on the Night - it was a belter! Antthony and Ali proving the language barrier never dies. go here to see it, along with the Liz Earle TSV bargain this Saturday on QVC and a very weird yukky video of the sound of gommage on my face! haha!

Other info -

Fructose is ethanol - alcohol - without the buzz. Another fab youtube video and a webchat with lovely new brand Soapsmith's - all on my latest Back to You blog which you'll find here. along with a 'before' pic that will remind you how big I was.

Don't forget Bodybade Bruce is back Tuesday 9th/Wed 10th including with me, and if you're a QVC fan and you fancy trying a device that helps with wrinkles, for an incredible two months and if it doesn't work you can get your money back, join me Tuesday midnight (tonight) for the Lightstim Today's Special Value. (or Wed thru the day.)

Anyway I'm off to see if Mister Meece has chomped his way throught the blocked up hole in the bathroom, and to think about buying a cat! lol.

Have a great week.

Best wishes

Ok here's the plan for the Three Months. Welcome to everyone taking part! Just by 'liking' this page, you hav registered your intention to do the challenge! How will you use this page and what does the challenge consist of? Read below. There's also a back up page on my website, link below. Good luck all!

HOW TO USE THIS PAGE / OTHER GROUPS DURING 3MCFeb
There is already, and should continue to be, much sharing on the individual specific groups and that will continue
- like bodyblade QVC group;
- or Till the Fat Lady Slims group for everyone wanting to learn Freedom Eating using my book (704285, back in stock on QVC) on its own or by using the 'When' diet part of Freedom Eating which you can use alongside ANY traditional diet (ANY);
- or Back to You QVC group for general health based shares and questions.
- THIS page is for weekly updates and support and anything you feel like putting on here but it's NOT a closed group, it's a page.
- THere is another closed group which is more intimate if you'd like to go there too - search 'Break the Habit BTU - and that's where this time last year, many individuals shared more personal info and put out more personal requests for help. Just search it and ping to join it.

ADMIN
Lovely Sharon is my fabulous admin helping to run this thang, so she or I will always respond to PMs etc as and when we can, usually within a day. BUT others may reply to you more quickly.

SO-
this is what to do - EVEN IF YOU JOIN LATE:

1. BEFORES.
I'd like you to take your measurements, and weight (if you want to) but DEFINITELY take a pic of you in an outfit you'll use again as you progress through the three months, eg once every two weeks if you're seeing good results, or even just once at start and once at end. BUT a before and after is a great motivator.

2. BLUEPRINT OF YOUR INTENTIONS
Write a list of things you want to stick to - this is up to you. Mine are below, to give you an idea. Feel free to post yours on this post as a statement of intent. This statement can be just yours, or you can share it, but history shows that those who declare their intentions publically have more success due to more committment. This section is where you put specifically all the things you aim to do - from sleep to meditation to drinking more water to spending more family time (or less!) to type of food plan to type and frequency of exercise plan - the more detailed you get the better at this point - try to leave nothing out.
- BUT you dont have to do it all, all the time. The THREE MONTH CHALLENGE (3MCFeb) will be to do 80 per cent of your list 80 percent of the time. If you manage the extra 20-20 then cool. BUT being more human about it means for many of us that it's easier this way, to keep going and stick to the whole three months and not beat yourself up if you miss out one thing one day. Add lots of stuff that makes you feel good, that you dont get time to do as much as you'd like, so it's not just 'lose three stone by mid May', and it's easier to feel like you're progressing if you can do other things than just one mountainous task. But include the method you'll achieve the mountainous task too!
SO this is your blueprint and it'll be like a reference tool, in a bullet point form or a list.

3. CONTRACT WITH YOURSELF
If the above blueprint is what you tell others, I need you to do a contract with yourself too. One that will make this time different to all the other times when you have given up and not made it through. This will involve a written letter to yourself, and must include why you need to change. It may or may not get emotional, but just sit down and give yourself some private time to get it all out on paper. Then use that info to write a list of promises to yourself about how you will behave during the 3MCFeb period. Write things you would tell your best friend about how to behave during the challenge. Mine would include things like -
- do NOT beat yourself up or give up if you come off the rails slightly during the 3MCFeb. It's what you do 80% of the time that matters, as long as the 20% is not self-sabotage. You deserve this change - don't be scared of it. etc
- you may want to include - Do NOT have last suppers - it's human to be imperfect. Be kind to yourself. etc
- STOP eating at satisfied as it's only three months and after all , that's the way the body is meant to be. etc
This is your own personal contract and it will be peppered with emotional reasons to make things happen. (Lots of info about how to do this type of thing is online. If anyone finds links, do post them.) Otherwise just sit and write as if you're writing to an old friend who knows you well.
Try to do this before you start, and have a specific date in mind when you will aim to take your 'after' pic and measurements etc - it could be a special event or birthday (mine's 10th May for that reason it's a three month challenge!). Know you can continue it afterwards too.

4. AGREEMENT WITH ME AND THE #TEAM3MC
This is not homework, this is not someone outside of yourself, this is you choosing to give yourself the best gift in the world. Your own contract will be all your own work. If someone tells me not to eat that, i want to eat it, even if i didn't want to before. Therefore remember that this is something you're doing because you've signed up to it.
- you can drop out at any time, and 'unlike' the page. BUT if you stay listed as one of the hundreds of 'likes', you are IN IT TO WIN IT!
- then if you'd like to follow the BASIC 3MC OUTLINE below, which I and lots of other members of the #team3MC will be doing, please feel free! Here it is -
#TEAM3MC OUTLINE
a. if you follow Freedom Eating (preferably most of you will) you should please aim to stop at satisfied, and wait till you're properly hungry (6 on hunger scale) before eating (all the guidleines are in the book Till the Fat Lady Slims on amazon and on QVC)
b. drink water - lots - every day - most will be drinking hot water with lemon in, which many find helps against sugar addiction. it's also one of the lynchpins of good health. (obviously other substitutes are acceptable - you choose but this is the main one.)
c. create a permahabit of exercise - with a device like bodyblade if you want, eg have it next to the kettle and do it AT LEAST one minute per day. If you start with one minute and build up, EVERYONE can do that - even if you dont do anything else in the day you can do that. Then the rest of the exercise contracts/promises you make can follow - but at least do one minute a day on SOMETHING! The one minute challenge is resurrected! (Usually doing one minute will get you going and you'll do some more!) NB I find that doing something that makes my belly feel flatter afterwards (like bodyblade hip and Thigh scupltor No6) really makes me walk taller and feel more like continuing not to overeat.
d. pay attention to your sleep, do all you can to improve your sleep.
e. diet - this will differ person to person, but mine will include this (and you can too if you want to) - every day have miso soup, some probiotic fremented veggies like sauerkraut or pickled beetroot etc, and lots of fresh veg and salads. (minimal fruit for me personally, a little but not loads.)
f. increase your knowledge. If you haven't watched the videos i've recommended, please do - it's vital to understand how fructose works in the body.Countless times people say 'i have plateaud and dont know why etc' - it's often too much fruit/sugar/'treats'; also read 'Fat Burning Simplified' on marlene watson tara .com. These videos are listed in TTFLS book and on my website on the 'Aids to Cutting Back on Sugar' blog.
g. cut back on sugar. Within the restrictions of any health requirements, this is vital for a healthier you. Some of our strongest proponents of getting off sugar addiction were ladies who initially thought they were exceptions to the rule and could carry on with their regular daily 'treats' - till they became aware of how tired they were as a result of them. Being off sugar is a wonderful thing and it enables you to do Freedom Eating properly.
h. do Freedom Eating - either full or the 'when' diet part of it which can be used alongside any traditional plan - ANY.
i. report back here weekly - either with a public post (remember it's a public page not a closed one) or one that just says 'just posted my update on TTFLS group / Break the Habit group (which are closed)' or at the VERY MINIMUM if you're shy, just 'like' my post which i will post every Monday with my new 3MCFeb Blog. OK?

is that ok?

Do feel free to post or repost your own basic committment below, and let's do this thing! Starting Monday 16th Feb, continuing till mid May. Let's do it girls/ guys!

original post -

Three Month Challenge – 16th February onwards – join ‘3MCFeb’ on Facebook to participate!

Ok so by the time you read this, for most, the Facebook page ‘3MC’ will be up and running. Here’s what’s happening – it’s very simple! I’m committing to a period of time to make time for me, for my health and for my well-being. Would you like to, too?

-          from mid Feb (16th) till Mid May – just after my birthday on 10th – I am doing a three month challenge to live healthily and I’d like you to join me!

-          it will involve you choosing your best combination of food / exercise / drinking water/ eating miso soup / meditation / deep breathing / stretching / having lots of veg / plus whatever works for you – for many it will be Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 book and Freedom Eating – that’s what I will major on, cos that’s what works for me. Plus I will be choosing Bodyblade, Leg Master etc. You choose what works for you – walking DVD’s, spingym, dancing on the spot – your choice. ALL the info will be listed on the new Facebook page being specially set up, but if you’re not on Facebook you can subscribe to my newsletter on www.debbieflint.com and put that you want to take part in the Three Month Challenge (3MCFeb). Or just come back here to my QVC blog each week, add a comment below that you’d like to be counted, and post weekly your own progress! Most people will use the new 3MCFeb page though.

-          pic of page 3MCFeb

-          to ‘register’ so I know who’s ‘in’ – just go here and ‘like’ the page, then, please! It’ll be my landing page for posting info and updates and the place where I’d like you to add your own comment or ‘like’ to my regular Monday Update post. See? Not much to do unless you want to! Go here – facebook page ‘3MCFeb’ – and ‘like it – then you’re registered! Simples!

-          Then from Monday 16th, just be prepared to keep yourself on track, for three months!

-          There will be lots of regular support and input and feedback on all the above groups too, as usual. The page is just for people to ‘like’ it to register their interest in being counted.

-          Finally – write down your plan, your promise to yourself and take a before pic. if you’re brave you can post it but you don’t have to post it, you just have to take one. We’re all in it together and every week on my blog from now on, I’ll post an update on how I’m doing – and you can too, below!

They say that a supportive environment is one of the main ways people keep going who would otherwise give up. So this next three months, keep me going, keep yourself going, and let’s do it!

Support System.

Bodyblade is key, for me, and for many of you, so Bruce and I headed off to Richmond Park this week to record another twist on a classic – a new Bodyblade Workout – the Bellyblaster! (NB the blade itself sold so well it's not on line at the mo. Just Keep the item number 432954 for when it’s back in stock – Bruce is due back 23rd/24th March I think, and meanwhile read the many reviews on this Bodyblade link, and the many Q&A’s. Plus join Bruce’s Facebook group. Here’s the little shorter ‘superthree’ we did, just for the tums. Enjoy! And prepare for the Three Month Challenge!

Bruce – park video - click here for a four min blast for your abs!

My Book is Back in Stock!

Just as Bruce’s Bodyblade sells out, Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ diet, item 704285 comes back in! Go here to order yours now. Anyone not yet ordered, you can do so for immediate dispatch. BUT only 800 are left out of the 3000 I signed ready for QVC, in this initial print run. And it’d be 12 weeks or more before it comes back. It differs from the purple eBook in that this aqua one is hardback, signed, and includes extra chapters and links to bonus material , item 704285, so get yours asap. Plus join the facebook group and of course ‘like’ the facebook page. Then you’re ready for the big challenge!

keep in touch!

best wishes

Original Blog for QVC HOme Page about TTFLs, Jan 2015

Hi all – what a momentous year this has been so far! And one of the biggest moments of my writing career is coming up on QVC.

I don’t know if you’re aware of my ‘Try It For The First Time club?’ For new readers of my weekly blogs here onQVCuk.com, it’s where you do something different, at least once a month, that you’ve never done before. Over the last year I’ve done indoor sky-diving, been a 1950’s announcer in ‘Happy Days the Musical’ and sat four feet away from a beautiful hummingbird on a balcony in LA.

Well I had a big one this week – I signed 3000 books! I’m proudly going to be bringing you my semi-autobiographical weight loss book, the brand new version with added content just for QVC.

Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet’, is the updated version of my original semi-autobiographical weight loss book and it’s going on air for its first full airing soon. I can’t believe how many have already been allocated via waitlist! It’s item 704285. There have only been 3000 produced though and it’s going fast. It’s a collectors’ special hardback edition that’s been signed.

Transformation During the first Back to You series, many people found the 2002 book on Amazon and began using it and reporting how it was changing their bodies. Lots of lovely members on the Facebook group ‘Back to You QVC’ were losing weight and transforming their relationship around food and posting their updates. For me it was gripping – Debbie S. and Chloe H my other cover girl have both followed the Freedom Eating plan! Plus so many more, a selection of which are featured on my TTFLS page on my website and below.

TTFLS Deb Bunn

Signed My lovely mum and sister came with me to the warehouse and we got a bit of a production line going. Me and my pixie helpers started at 9am, and finished just before 3pm, in a warehouse just outside Ipswich. I signed all 3000 in one day, and they’re all now being prepared for delivery to QVC in stages.

Mum and sis

Monday 26th 9pm The first official full airing of TTHFLS is during the series-finale of my Back to You, well-being show.  Every week we focus on a well-being theme in my month-long occasional series, and I’m very proud to be bringing you this book – the end result of more than fourteen years of writing, learning and losing weight. The book is currently available on a waiting list ( over 500 have been ordered so-far), pre-order now to make sure you don’y miss out!

Original The 2002 version was first written after following the Freedom Eating principles 14 years ago and I haven’t binged since. And if you want to compare notes, OMG just have a look at the ‘binge management’ section towards the back – see what I used to go through – are you the same? Plus so many other common mistakes people make on their dieting journeys. And we’ve all done them.

The most common reaction I get is ‘it was like reading about myself… so good to see I’m not the only one’.

What is Freedom Eating? It’s based on the secrets of slim people and how your body knows what to do, we just override our key signals. This system helps you identify how to get back to your own natural relationship with food as fuel – not as reward, or solace or revenge. And helps you reclaim your own natural birthright to be slim. It’s just common sense, but it’s my take on an old theme, and it’s my own journey that makes this one different. It’s based on a version of the ‘The Seven Secrets of Slim People’ which is similar to the book  ‘Diets Don’t Work’. Since 2000 many other health and well-being books have come out with other versions of this same common sense and I’m not sure why my one resonates with so many people, but it does. A lot of people have found that this is the one that’s made all the difference.

Freedom. It’s so liberating. Whenever I do the full Freedom Eating, I find it so easy, not hard at all, and it’s like food becomes LESS important in my life every day instead of ruling my every thought and living from meal to meal. Others agree – eg on the ‘Back To You Facebook group. It’s never ceased to amaze me what I learned about how slim people do it and loved putting it in writing all those years ago.

New Version But more than a decade later there is a lot of new info that needed to go in. So I issued an updated version in September last year, including crucial new material, as well as a slightly abridged version of the original. Version 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet was born! I put it online with its purple cover and it started to inspire people so much that QVC asked me to do a version just for us!

How is it new? The new aqua one is a limited collector’s edition with a bonus chapter inside, not seen elsewhere yet, about my own personal story, in the years I was away from QVC. Plus further links to more exclusive material over on my website! It’s in hardback, as it’s designed to be a reference book, to read over and over again.

Groundbreaking The principles are so ground-breaking for some lifelong dieters that they say stuff like this –

After trying so many diets over a few decades now finally found an eating regime that works. Till the fat lady slim book by Debbie Flint has made me look at eating in a whole new light. No longer have good and bad things to eat just what my body tells me I need. …changing my eating habits forever. Please, please if you are struggling at the time of reading this, give it a go.” Starlight, QVC review

“As a once constant slimmer until Debbie’s Book which has been a great help and a good read plus the best bit ….. working well. Simpler than following very high-powered or sloppy food diets, have recommend to friends. Have old version but have also ordered hard back for myself too.” Wahwoo, QVC Review

“This book has been such a help. It has changed the way I view my eating pattern and has helped me create a much better diet for myself. My eating habits were so poor before hand but now I have a new attitude to food which has helped me so much.” Ace1, QVC review

Lard These and many more similar testimonials echo how I felt back in the day when I first read about Freedom Eating and began bringing pats of lard into the studio on a tray representing how many pounds I was losing – ultimately two and a half stone. The pic on the book shows a couple of pics from back then – anyone remember those days on QVC?

back

Chuffed Can’t tell you how delighted it’s making me, to know that so many people are breaking out of ‘food prison’ ‘cos of my writing. The steamy novels went down a storm and that was lovely, but this is a different type of chuffed entirely! Knowing so many people are using it to make their diets easier makes me so proud.

Be prepared to dip into it continually as you gradually adjust whilst your body gets used to listening to its signals and eating like a slim person does.

With over 170 pages of testimonials old and new, it still includes the full, slightly abridged original TTFLS book from 2002 remember – that’s in part three. But parts one and two are crucial to understand why this system works and how it’s NOT a diet plan.

What it’s not. If you’re not prepared to let go of old beliefs this book is not for you. Or if you follow a rigid structure easily, maybe you’re one of the lucky people who go on a diet and stick to it no problem, lose the weight and don’t see what all the fuss is about, then this system is probably not for you.

  • It does NOT tell you what to eat and what not to eat, it’s not a meal-plan
  • It is NOT a short-term system, it’s a long-term approach which will make everything different from now on, and if you can do full Freedom Eating your body takes back its natural power which has been over-ridden by bad habits around food.
  • It is NOT some weird kooky system, it’s just how slim people eat their whole lives.

What it is This book is for anyone who CAN’T DIET. Who has the BEST intentions and really means to stick to the next brand new shiny diet plan or slimming club regime BUT deep down – below all the best laid plans that this time it will be different – knows they won’t. Or likes a plan but drops off it after a while, this can help you too.

Contents

Part One explains the basics about Freedom Eating – and changing your whole mindset about dieting. It helps break free from that horrible place we’ve all been to, if we’ve experienced ‘food prison.’ For instance, within the first chapter I’ve put my ‘Super Six’ principles, so you can look at the free sample – go here on my website, debbieflint.com, where people can see the link to the free sample so you can see what it’s all about if you’re in any doubt about whether to buy it. I’d hate for anyone to take a copy if it’s not for them, as someone else may miss out. So do go look if you’re not sure. If you do decide to get it though, be quick since, as I’ve said, this QVC version is limited!

Part Two has some crucial information which cannot be ignored if you want to get it right – an important chapter that explains why the latest knowledge about certain foods really helps. It makes it easier for me, when I watch all the video links and read all the articles to choose correctly, as it helps me make those decisions more easily. And advice about what to do first on your way to full Freedom Eating. Full freedom eating is where nothing is banned. If being told you can’t have something means you can’t stop thinking about it, this book is for you. The reason is, if you’re like me, the opposite is also true and knowing you ‘can’ means you eat it less. The psychology is fascinating. And this book features a long list of misapprehensions that need to be unlearned, and helps you unlearn them.

704285.v.004The ‘When’ Diet For some who like structure though, like my sister Linda, pictured above helping me at the signing, it’s a different story. She uses it for maintenance and to help stay on traditional diets. She’s an ex-slimming club leader and saw how Freedom eating helped transform my behaviour around food. She and I then co-created The ‘When’ Diet section – designed to help put a stop to those ‘start again tomorrow’ moments and make normal dieting a bit more closely aligned with how your body is supposed to act around food.

If you DO want to use it alongside traditional diets, that works too, it’s what the ‘When’ Diet section is for.

  • This book will hold your hand
  • This book will provide answers when you feel desperately low about your weight
  • This new mindset will offer freedom like many have never known, from the constant curse of dieting.

Stories from others I can’t tell you what a thrill it has been to hear from so many people, like all the Freedom Eating converts from my lovely Facebook group, ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims’ and those who have kindly put their reviews on item 704285. The main thing is that it’s helping so many now – and of course there are far more stories on my website here – click here to see the TTFLS page .

Anyway, at time of writing, my shoulder is just a little bit hot right now, after all that signing. Only a few had a slightly more squirly signature, and they’ve got the word ‘enjoy’ on. Some have a few extra kisses. And one special one was the final one I signed which has an extra little message in the front as it was number 3000 out of 3000!

Julia warned me about shoulder ache after her signing of 5000 of her books, so I’m off to find the arnica.

Back to You If you’re a Back to You fan, even though the last show is Jan 26th don’t worry! The support system continues with over 2600 members on our Back to You QVC facebook group, and via my regular Back to You blog on my website. And who knows, maybe there’ll be another series later in the year – the 4th!

Join me on the final airing of Back to You for this series, on Monday 26th at 9pm on air, and the webchat on the Facebook group just before that, featuring my TTFLS chat plus the Camouflage sisters, 8-9pm.

I will put a link on my blog on my website if you miss it, so don’t worry – it’ll be on debbieflint.com, on the Back to You page weekly blog, where you’ll also see the Q&A transcripts from the the webchats.

Have a great week and maybe make 2015 the year you do things completely differently than ever before – starting with considering this book – ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet’ – as the game-changer.

Let me know what you think and if you have any questions at all, you can ask me personal ones viawww.debbieflint.com – sign up there for my regular email newsletter for updates.

TTFLS 2.0 book on QVC site

Hoorah! My semi autobiographical weight loss book is up and available from qvcuk.com - item 704285 (click here) - but by Wednesday this week over a quarter of the initial stock had already been allocated to waitlist orders. It's due on air 26th Jan, but do feel free to buy it sooner than that if you'd like to see the results.

The difference between this and the eBook/paperback that's on Amazon (Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 - the 'When' Diet, 2014) is that it's got the extra bonus material including a chapter covering the personal story during the time I was away from QVC plus it's signed, it's hardback and it's a limited production of under 3000. Ever. If more are ordered they'll take months plus they won't be exactly the same as this one.

See the first chapter if you're not sure by going here - 'look inside' free sample of first part of book on Amazon.

Hope you like it - do let me know! Basically all the info about it is on my TTFLS tab, see above, if you'd like to find out more.

So what a lovely proud 'first' for me this week - very proud Debbie! Now I've just got to quash my anxiety about taking it to air - nervous! hehe!

Back to You with Bruce

It was lovely to see Bruce from Bodyblade again this week (IN PIC ABOVE WITH ME) - we went for supper and he did the webchat, then took pole position on this week's Back to You show on Monday (9pm). More info and pics are on this week's QVC blog - see QVC tab above for Friday's (16th) blog.

if you missed the whole hour on QVC, you can watch it again on the link below. Be warned though, 'cos it's recorded a little fast for some reason - my voice sounds like it used to when I was younger! haha!

Back to you Show for those who missed it - Monday 12th 9pm - click here.

Bruce is due to answer a few more questions from our webchat and when they're ready I will put the transcript of the Q&A below.

And as promised, click here for a new Super6 routine which incorporates extra variety within each movement!

Next week the webchat will be with a familiar face! The week after, Pilates' Marjolein will be dong her Q&A plus the Camouflage Company girls return.

And on Back to You show on 19th we will have a one minute challenge on the urban rebounder - and if you have your bodyblade by then you can use that!

A secret about me that not a lot of people know.

Interesting feeling reared its head again this week when I was due to go to the Alpha H party (full report on this Friday's (16th) QVC blog - see QVC tab above.) See as a TV presenter, it's easy to put on the mantle of a confident gregarious person who can cope with almost anything, and I do, and it's real. BUT left to my own devices, when I'm back at home on a day off, faced with the thought of going out, how easy is it not to bother, and to actually let shyness overtake you? My closest friends know how true this is - you ask Craig Rowe. We joke that if you crossed him and me you'd have a person somewhere in the middle! Craigy is admirable and talks to anyone, he's so friendly. BUT maybe because I was very much brought up amongst family rather than having to kep meeting new people all the time, or perhaps 'cos I'm just weird, I don't find it easy to start a conversation in a room full of people I don't know. When I'm not working. In the past I've even missed weddings when I was feeling particularly crippled by the fear of getting out there - I call it 'go-have-fun-o'phobia'! Are you the same? if so you may find the Monday Essay below interesting. Some great books out there, certainly, which will help. BUT all the while i'm supposed to be meeting a man, I'm a bit stuck for ... meeting anyone new, aren't I?! Any tips? lol. I'll just have to make it a 'thing' this year - to get more confident in social situations with new men... I mean new people, won't I?!

(Monday Essay is at bottom of blog below.)

Other News -

- Aids to Cutting Back on Sugar - just in case you missed it - go here, it makes such a difference to your health and to your dieting.

- BBC Horizon Dieting series - an analysis on what's the best diet for you - worth a watch. And if you still find it hard, don't forget TTFLS goes along with any traditional diet plan if you feel a wobble coming on! More about the BBC show here.

Have a great week!

THE MONDAY ESSAY - FACING YOUR FEARS

One of Wayne Dyer's colleagues has a brilliant book - Susan Jeffries' Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. It's a classic and has been around for many years. Go read the 'look inside' for free on the link above, adn order it if you think it's just up your cul de sac.

Over 300 five star reviews, it's almost always within the top 1000 of the UK Kindle chart which means it's always steadily selling since the wisdom never goes away and there's always someone new. Like this lady -

"I had heard of this book often enough, but never read it. As they say when the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear. If you are really struggling with your life this book will give you heart, if you have been working on yourself it will remind you of all that you have learnt and prompt you to keep it up. So what is it all about? Firstly, it points out that everybody gets fearful, but that some people rise to the challenges they face more positively than others and so succeed in their lives, while others just seem to shrink, becoming more and more overwhelmed by everything. This book shows you how to turn your thoughts around to the positive, to switch off your inner nag and just get on with life. It isn't corny, it isn't gimmicky, but it is truly uplifting and calming, and it works. Last night my dishwasher broke and rather than get into a stew about finding the time to get it repaired and the expense etc as I would have done I just remembered ' I'll handle it' and got it sorted. This is a fairly trivial example, but those of us who are prone to worry and anxiety, are easily overwound by the most mundane things, so it is so good to have some tools to get life into the right perspective."

I like that, don't you? It ties in with the recent Book of the Week on my RiWiSi writing blog, called 'The Chimp Paradox.' If you missed it check out the archive, it's certainly worth a read too, to help cope with the inner nag.

And see if this year you can push back some barriers, do some TiFFT's * and start the journey to making the changes you know you should make for 2015.

*Try it For the First Time club.
