Debbie Flint

Hi once again! What an amazing week for Back to You – with over a hundred and fifty brand new members! Welcome if you’re one of them! (link to Facebook group is below, do join if not*)

Have just got back from a practically sell out show with Tarte Cosmetics and it reminded me to say that making yourself look nice is one of the best ways to lift your spirits, if you find you feel better when the mirror looks less like your mother. Actually, if you’re me and you put makeup on and look better, you end up looking MORE like your mother, since mine looks so damn young! But that’s another story… Tons of goodies still online if you want to revamp your makeup bag without costing the earth. Ditto with skincare – and Judith Williams’s new Today’s special Value, from the FutureSkin range with two new products, is about to happen. (Tuesday night at midnight, 2nd June.) Or even just changing your health routine to be a bit more focussed can be the lift you need.

I was chatting to one of our lovely models tonight, whom I will call Grace, a slightly older lady who was concerned about her current lifestyle choices, and we found ourselves saying this –

If you need a lift in your current lifestyle routine, make these choices instead – for just TWO WEEKS –

-       Cut right back on sugar, gradually – a tiny bit less each day (like a quarter teaspoon of sugar less each cup of tea or coffee) till it’s practically gone from your diet – for TWO WEEKS

-       Give your body a break from the things you KNOW it finds hard to deal with – for Grace it’s eggs, for me (I  love eggs!) it’s dairy, but I also don’t really eat meat, or wheat as first choice for my body – for TWO WEEKs

-       Do a specific exercise, even for ONE MINUTE every day – eg exercise number 6 from the Super6 on Bodyblade – for TWO WEEKs

-       Drink hottish (not boiling) water with a squeeze of lemon (a squeeze – not so it takes the surface off your teeth!) every day instead of your breakfast cuppa – FOR TWO WEEKS

-       And practise forgiveness – instead of mulling over things you can’t change – because if you can’t change it, there’s no point worrying over it, and if you CAN change it, just do it – there’s no point worrying over it! This way you can start getting your head sorted out too.

-       So are you up for the TWO WEEK lifestyle kick?

-       If you want to go the whole hog, do it alongside Freedom Eating (see links to my TTFLS book below) – giving you a better outline of what to do around food, and act llike a slim person – FOR TWO WEEKS

-       Finally be prepared to go public – tell someone you’re doing it – if that tactic makes you more likely to stick to it. If not, keep schtum and do it just for you – FOR TWO WEEKS!

Let me know how you get on!

On my Till the Fat Lady Slims group, (TTFLS) many are taking the second THREE MONTH CHALLENGE and already seeing good results again. But remember that ups and downs are part of the progress. Realising that they are normal and not to be panicked over is the first step.

And just look at this – made me well proud! -

Great Results.

Here are some more fab comments that have gone up on the groups I run this week – what’s yours? Do tell us on one of them! (links are below)

And this from QVC UK item 704285 - “" I have lost three and a half stone with slimming world and one thing I've found is the necessity to keep reviewing what I'm doing as my weight loss continues, otherwise complacency creeps in and my weight creeps up! This book has made me think carefully about when and how much I eat and I noticed that I eat at mealtimes whether hungry or not, and I finish my plate even if I was satisfied much earlier. So I tweaked these things this week and lost three pounds. I was also really interested in what the book says about the effects of sugar...I was really impressed by Debbie's detailed references for further reading. Her book has encouraged me to think of my weight loss as a project and be less passive and more proactive about understanding what's going on in the process. Sorry, I'm going on and on, but I was surprised by how much I got from this.”

How lovely – it’s reviews like this that make my hard work maintaining the groups and devoting so much time replying and posting, worthwhile. Thank you so much for such a lovely review.

NB hardback is still available on QVC item 704285. £10 incl p&p x

Webchats – this week Bruce talked about the Bodyblade... Also on Back to You QVC group, Sara Hollamby for Judith Williams skincare – launching the Futureskin TSV tonight/tomorrow (2nd/3rd)! And the lovely Marie-Francoise from Kipling gives an insight into the upcoming new TSV bag (7th). Their Q&A are at the bottom of this blog if you missed them. We also had a surprise visit from the fabulous Leigh from Tarte cosmetics during my time with her at QVC, in between the two shows I did. The replies were quite spread out so we’ve invited her back in time for her next shows in August. In the next few weeks it’ll be as follows –

June 8th – Abi Cleeve / Ultrasun PLUS top natural body care beauty range A’kin.

… to come – Marv our African Caribbean presenter on QVC talking about her fab new video for darker skins, Ali K, who gets married end of June!, and even – somehow – Alison Young…

PLUS - July 6th – Tom Ogden & Michelle / Alpha H

More Back to You next week – and remember to check in on the TTFLs page for more tips of the day to keep you going! (link below).

Other news –

-          Smoking ban in all public places in Beijing – again! – One of the worst things about Beijing, I found out in my QVC related trip in April, was the smog. Added to by people smoking – even still in some restaurants. There’s nothing more vile, in my opinion, especially in a city where most days you can’t see the sun. About time – but why did it fail the first time? More here

-          Just 4 days on meditation can improve your attention spaand a 48% reduction in risk for heart attack or stroke? Worth a read? more here.

 -          Can’t lose weight? The 5 internal Factors that rule your metabolism interesting stuff more here.

Best wishes for a fab week!

Crimefest

Oh what a good time we had! As you can see, I met up with Lee Child, top selling author and all round good guy, creator of maverick ex-army cop Jack Reacher. In 2011 I interviewed Lee when he came to QVC, launching The Affair, the prequel to all of his Jack Reacher novels, and a great place to begin if you've not read any yet. Go here for Amazon link. Anyway I spotted him chatting in the coffee bar on the ground floor of the Bristol Marriot and caught him as he got up to leave. He said 'good to see you again,' which was great, even if he was just saying it to be nice! But he gave a lot of time to the readers and writers during the evening in the bar and also the next day when he was on panel discussing brains versus brawn.

He said an interesting thing - that in dramatic fight scenes, they are usually over really fast. And that the scene in One Shot (which was made into a movie with Tom Cruise) where Reacher faces five thugs was based on Lee's own playground experience - he sounded like a right hard nut himself! Apparently it really happened in a back alleyway during his school years when he was around 8 or 9. He hit the first kid really hard, then the next two the same, and the other two ran away. Meaning the line 'it's never five against one - if you can take out the first three, the other two run,' was based on history. Also Lee pointed out that in real life no one waits politely for the fallen opponent to get up again, it's 'make him fall, kick him in the head whilst he's down.' No wonder Jack Reacher wins nearly all of his fights with Lee as his alter ego...

Anyway, the next novel, 'Make Me', will be out in September, and I can't wait.

My pal Litty Williams came second in the hotly contested Flash Bang flash fiction competition (under 150 words) - well done her! But our crime pub quiz expertise was sorely lacking - we did object to being called 'the Rejects' as a team name by the elderly quirky American guy who they'd appointed as our table captain, but to no avail - and we came third from bottom! Fun though. And lovely facilities - a pool and gym. So I had a massage - haha!

I really enjoyed the Crimefest panels, with much debate amongst successful authors about various aspects of novel writing and crime fiction. More info here about next year's - click here. I'll be going. See you there?

FICTION FOCUS – Hawaiian Escape’ – the PREquel to ‘Hawaiian Affair’ / ‘Take a Chance on Me’(Choc Lit). I’ve written seven titles now, all on Amazon, so this summer, I’m taking you through them one at a time! Hawaiian Escape is one of the best places to start – in steamy version or less steamy!

THE STORY Sadie and Helen are sisters but both unhappy in love. Sadie’s ex, Stuart has a younger lover and gloats at every opportunity especially when her business takes a turn for the worst. In Hawaiian Escape, we find out what brought Sadie to the competition that changed her life – an amazing trip to Hawaii, and the events leading up to meeting Mac in Hawaiian Affair /TACOM.

I wrote Hawaiian Escape as a short story but it expanded and expanded and then suddenly out came Helen, Sadie’s older, mischievous sister and the story of her steamy encounters in Tuscany at the annual conference with Alessandro just had to be told. So Hawaiian Escape tells us Helen’s background too, as it takes us from Italy to leafy Surrey to New York and some funny encounters with Mr Right Now – or is he… A great summer holiday read, or if you’re looking for unpredictable plot twists and some larger than life characters!

“Wow, this book is quite literally a page turner! I couldn't put it down. A fantastic prequel to Debbie's Hawaiian Affair novel, not only does this book take you on a geographical journey, but also that of love, romance and passion.

A wonderful book outlining a fantastic relationship between two sisters who are helping each other whilst going on their own spiritual journey.

Challenges, drama and hilarious comedic moments I would thoroughly recommend this book. Please follow on with HAWAIIAN AFFAIR.” Amazon review. Hawaiian Retreat is book 3.

Go here to get it on Amazon – in eBook or in Paperback – in ‘PG (non steamy)’ or in Steamy versions!

WIP Research #1 - French or Dutch research reveals fascinating facts about London's Vintage Past.  I was truly distracted this week with a glimpse into London's street lighting past and info about who keeps the tradition going. I was writing a scene where the heroine walks into a dingy Village Hall for a meeting with her heroine, and the streets have to be dim. Hence my googling. This is what I found.

  • There are just 1,500 gas lamps left in London, each one hand-lit by a member of a five man team every evening
  • The 19th-century lamps offer a glimpse of the city as it would have been during the time of Charles Dickens
  • Current team of London lamplighters are actually British Gas engineers - but their efforts go largely unsung
  • That the gas lamps have survived is partly a tribute to English Heritage, which has protected and restored them

A sense of old London: That the gas lamps have survived is partly a tribute to English Heritage, which has protected and restored them

Hey all! Well I did the Moonwalk and it was a triumph… of determination, until mile 15 when I twisted my ankle on a curb and three of us ended giving up after 18 miles. That did mean we managed three quarters of a marathon! But we had registered for the full one so we didn’t get a medal, but the other four went on to get theirs. So well done Team QVC! If you didn’t sponsor us and want to, still, now we’ve done it (!) it would add to the nearly £2000 – and we’d be so grateful! The link is here – just click it, even if it’s a low amount, every little helps! Go here.

This weekend was also the end of the Three Month Challenge! I’ve been so proud of everyone on 3MCFeb. There have been some superb updates flying around – many on closed groups like Till the Fat Lady Slims and Bodyblade QVC group. But here are a few quotes to help you understand how fabulous some of the participants have been!

“Advice for others? Well just go for it really. If you don't try it you will never know, I've even cancelled the subscription on the online weightloss group I've been on for 7 years because I know I don't need it now! As far as exercising is concerned, you don't need to do much to make a difference but for me the Body Blade has changed the way I look at exercising! Its easy to use (well once you get into the rhythm lol!) and I'm going to start Leslie Sansone's walking videos too! Freedom eating works - all you need to do is to take the plunge, have faith in yourself. If I can do it, anyone can!” Helen

“I've completed the first 3month challenge and have lost inches as well of pounds gone down a size in clothes (actually think it might be 2sizes but a bit tight still ) so I am up for the new 3month challenge. I can honestly say this has changed my life onward and upward girls :0” Heather, TTFLS

“Non-Scale-Victories for me are getting into a pair of jeggings I'd only worn once before (more than 3 years ago!), exercising more and enjoying it and feeling more energised. But here's the big SV for me ........ as of this morning I weighed.. a whole 11lb less - over the course of the 3 months - which is bang on the target my GP set me - 1/2lb to 1lb a week. That means I'm well on my goal to losing 4 stone before the end of the year! Thank you to everyone on this group and the Body Blade group for you support when I've needed it (which has been often). Going to continue on with this journey and making my family proud of what I've achieved.” Chris, TTFLS

Finally this week, Anne Keating, superstar from the Bodyblade QVC group, has begun a new 3MC – for the next three months! Join the Bodyblade QVC or Till the Fat Lady Slims Facebook groups to find out more and to register and follow their progress. It’s amazing what a difference it makes to have someone else helping you along. Links to all are below.

Webchats – this week we’re lucky enough not only to have te fabulous Bruce with his usual Bodyblade chat, but also on Back to You QVC group, Lola Rose’s Nicky Gewirtz and also Bare Minerals’ Lee Etheridge! Their Q&A are at the bottom of this blog if you missed them! In the next few weeks it’ll be as follows –

May 25th – Julie from OPI

June 1st – Sara Hollamby for Judith Williams

June 8th – Abi Cleeve / Ultrasun PLUS top natural body care beauty range A’kin.

More Back to You next week – have a fab time and remember – baby steps make things come closer – even a tiny bit! - but at least they’re not further away.

Other news –

-          3 Ways To Naturally Cleanse & Boost The Immune System – and goodness knows we all need that! More here

-          7 Brain Benefits Of Cutting Wheat Out Of Your Diet Now this is not for everybody, as some people can eat wheat no problem, I’m told. But if you know you can’t, this might help you in your quest to avoid it!  There’s so many gluten free options out there nowadays it makes it easier to at least do the 80/20 rule. more here.

Best wishes for a fab week!

I am always open to ideas, so if you have any earing designs you would like me to try, send them my way and I will try and have them made xx

Sharon Harvey Hi NIkki i love your bracelets i love the jangle noise hahaha! I have decided i need to buy my first necklace... i love these am thinking of getting my sons initials

Hi Suzanne, the scarves I find much harder than the jewellery to design and colouring them sometimes sends me crazy and I literally have to go for a walk to clear my head.....I try to only design anything that I would personally love and feel proud to wear and of course with a nod to the trends. The scarves literally make all my daily outfits, I would be lost without them. I think and I hope that Lola has now found a signature look that we can expand on. Heads up though, we are working on a scarf TSV for October and as it is my 15th anniversary I am hoping to do 4 x designs that have something for everyone x

Sharon Harvey What was the first necklace you designed and how does an image come to you? x

Sharon Harvey Thanks Ruby Ahmad plus i love anything bright and colourful...its like being in a sweet shop with Lola Rose hahaha x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Karen, that's tricky in many ways....obviously the Freddie and the Oscy bracelets are my all time favs!!!! What is it that you love about the Freddie?? You know for me it is all about the mood I am in that particular day. Sometimes I reach for so...See More

Suzanne Way Roll on October. Also any shows in between. Thankyou nikki xx

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Dawn, that's great yipeee your first piece of Lola. It looks like Fern Quartzite from the picture, which is for sure one of the best green stones that Lola does. Please do let us know how you get on with it once you receive xx

Jessica Mary Love Lola Rose and really made up with the watch - looks amazing smile emoticon. Just wondered if you have any plans to use green sandstone again in any of your jewellery?

Sharon Harvey Nikki Gewirtz you are so lovely! You really do go out of your way for your customers and take all feedback on board! Thank you, we Really appreciate you x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi ladies you will have to excuse me for 5 minutes as poor oscy is getting his back teeth and has woken up screaming - calpol I think....be back in five xx

Sharon Harvey Nikki - i know we cannot make any claims that stones can do certain things, but i do love the stories, mythology and healing benefits behind certain stones. I am drawn to certain items for that reason x

Debbie Flint which ones are best sharon?

Debbie Flint i love tiger's eye - the different layers - anyone know the meaning attached to that? if there was a teal and turquoise version i'd be in heaven! lol x

Ruby Ahmad a few years ago Nikki, i was a runner up in one of your competitions heart emoticon

Sharon Harvey Rose Quartz has a gentle energy. It is a heart healer of physical heart ailments as well as emotional heartbreaks. Rose quartz is a timely gift to offer someone who desires to learn self-love.

Sharon Harvey for you debbie xTurquoise stone is an advisor of the highest order, little wonder that it was a revered as a spiritual stone by Native Americans. This stone can be used to help one learn spiritual lessons through meditation and/or dream visions.

Jacqueline Jackson Hi Nikki I love love love blue sandstone is there anything new coming up? I love the way it sparkles. X

Nikki Gewirtz hi ladies, I or rather we are back - you have Oscy as well. Multi tasking x

Sharon Harvey but i love this All varieties of obsidian are good utilized as grounding and protective agents. The snowflake obsidian in particular helps us surrender or let go of negative habits or past pathways that no longer serve your present condition. It can bring about opportunity for change, serenity, and clarity.

Dawn Robinson I will do thank you x

Sharon Harvey HI Oscy, oh bless hope he is ok xx big kisses xx

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Karen, I absolutely love the watches and I am very proud of how they have worked out. There are many more in the watch collection coming up but not until the end of the year. The next one we are launching is a printed one with the scarf prints. I would love to do so much more under the Lola Rose brand, but I need to be careful as I do get carried away. Would be lovely to hear what all of you think should be our next product expansion? let me know how you get on with the watch when you receive it xx

Wendy Sheriff Hi Oscy, hope your teeth settle sweetie. Hi Nikki thanks so much for the reply I have sent you a private message and will make sure Lola reads the post tomorrow xxx

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Alison, I will definitely. You know me I am not one for rules! The stone mixes have worked out fab. I am not sure if the samples went straight off to QVC today once I had approve them, so I will check and will post as soon as I can x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Claire, do you mean the coffee stone? I adore that stone too. x

anne-Marie Mason Ooh, dangerous to ask for ideas Nikki, ha ha. My perfect wrist would have a 4mm watch & a 4mm ID bracelet alongside my bracelets. All in my fave nude tones too. x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Debbie, wow 50 scarves!!!!! I think that even beats my collection. I was only looking at our archive of ditsy prints the other day and thinking of how I could do another one. So will definitely try. Re the extra small rings, what size would be good x

Debbie Try Hi Nikki, how about bags being added to your brand? Work bags, cross body bags? X

Claire Louise Yes sorry coffee stone I love love love it .... It goes with everything xxx

Jessica Mary Love the prints do much I would like to have Lola Rose wallpaper smile emoticon

Anne-Marie Mason I've got a montana addison on the way to see how it fits with all my 4mm's, can't wait. x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Natalie, the necklace which matches the July TSV is the same size as the Cassidy beads but longer length so I think this might be what you are looking for hopefully x

Karen Hunt Will do Nikki. I'd love to see some beautiful tops with prints from your lovely stones, like Montana, flower agate etc

Debbie Try What date in July is your next TSV Nikki? x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Maureen, I could speak about your question for hours on end! Again it really does depend on my mood of the day and I am so ridiculously fickle that I change my mind all the time. There are some clear favourites though. Grey Agate, I think is so sophisticated and an easy stone to wear. Red Plum Agate is my favourite at the moment and we have a scarf coming up next week which uses the same tones and I literally have been living in it. The flourites are very special and when I wear them they just make me feel great. Blue Sandstone for evening with Black Agate. In the summer I love Rose Quartz and the new pastel blues and pinks. I am not answering this one very well am I??? What are your favourite stones xx

Wendy Sheriff Hi Nikki, will you be bringing back Blue Jasmine and Rock Crystal in the Stacey necklace love it!! Xx

Sharon Harvey Hahahahahaha x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Karen, me too. And I don't understand why fashion designers don't do more flutter sleeved A line tops with a longer length. I think I would just like to do one flattering top in all my prints x

Debbie Try Thank you replying Nikki. Re ring size, my ring finger is a size K. And re ditsy print scarves, I will keep my fingers crossed x

Nikki Gewirtz oooh Anne Marie that sounds delicious x

Nikki Gewirtz Jessica, we did have some wallpaper made for our new offices, I will take a picture for you. We had poodles, butterflies and all the way up the stairs is our pink Montana stone blown up - would love to do that too x

Nikki Gewirtz Debbie, I think bags will hopefully be my next extension when I have the time x

Wendy Sheriff Wallpaper sounds lovely hope you are able to do that Nikki xx

Debbie Try Thank you for your time Nikki. Cannot wait for your shows this week, I'll be watching. X

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Gorgeous Debbie Flint, my day at the palace was so special and even more special because I met Prince William!!!! He was so lovely and made me at ease immediately. I had a very long informal chat with him and broke protocol in the first 3 seconds by calling Kate his gorgeous wife instead of HRH (which we had been briefed to do 30 seconds before). He did not even flinch! After the Palace and both my boys running around like they were at home. Imagine this transformers, dummies, muslins and cars strewn over BP, we went for a gorgeous family lunch. Then partied the night away at Lola Rose Head Office. Had a very special guest named Debbie Flint xx

Wendy Sheriff So well deserved too Nikki can't wait for the shows xx

Sharon Harvey Awwwwwwwww x

Anne-Marie Mason Bags with matching scarves please. x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Sharon, firstly thank you to you and Debbie for setting up and managing such a brilliant and safe and troll free group, you do a fantastic job....so big hugs. The meanings of the stones are so important to me and although I don't make a big fuss about them, I know that I am truly drawn to some stones even if they are not my colours. Some stones just make me feel so calm, whilst others give me an energy from nowhere. We really must not underestimate the properties and powers of the stones. I am sure they were telling me to use them when I started Lola Rose (although don't shout about that as some people will think I am mad) xx

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Sharon, there is so much new this week in the anniversary shows and quite a lot of event pricing which is even better news! We are previewing one of our new season scarves called snow leopard which I will try and photograph for you tomorrow and are continuing to preview the new seasons colours. So yes lots to look forward to x

sharon Harvey Fabulous! That is why i love them too! you are so right they do "speak" to us..... and thank you for the compliment, the pleasure is absolutely all ours xx

Anne-Marie Mason Nikki if you are mad then we all are too because we love the stones too. Thanks for doing this, I look forward to more 4mm soon, ha ha. x

Anne-Marie Mason Ooh, if that's the same snow leopard that's on your site I'm gonna be skint by the end of the week, ha ha. x

Sharon Harvey oooooooooh snow leopard!! x

Nikki Gewirtz Hi Jessica, Green Sandstone is not that easy to work with as sometimes I think can look very dark and not that sparkly but I am always on the look out for some really sparkly rough. As soon as I find it, it will be ours xx

Sharon Harvey Anything sparkly is always a winner!! x

sharon Harvey LADIES, PLEASE JOIN ME IN SAYING A HUGE THANK YOU TO Nikki Gewirtz for joining us this evening! Nikki, it has been an absolute pleasure to have you here! We are so looking forward to your shows this week and all of your stunning designs. Lots of love a...See More

So we made it to 18 miles - here's a link to the video of the event - a tiny snippet of it really, courtesy of our cameraguy Mark Cain. It was great, glad I did it, and took two days to recover! OMG those aching ankles! Happily my Skechers pumps didn't give me blisters and the memory foam insoles were comfy underfoot but not quite enough support for my ankles on such a long walk. Maybe the half marathon next year, we'll see...

click here to watch the video clip.

Got to bed by about 10am Sunday morning, then we were all out at the Lulu concert on Sunday night - update will be in this week's QVC blog - go here to see it on Friday! Seven presenters all in one place - good job there are 21 of us, so someone was left at QVC!

Meanwhile, do go see our fashion guest Susan Graver's funniest blooper - the link is on my recent blog here.

CRIMEFEST weekend in Bristol for readers and writers of crime fiction was amazing too - with Lee Child being star guest - what a nice man he is. Stop press! He told me his next Jack Reacher novel called 'Make Me' will be out in September - and he's always top of the charts, so well worth a read if you haven't tried him before. I loved the weekend.

Had to cut it short to get back for the Moonwalk but next year I will go for the whole thing, I think. Why? Well so far I've written romance, but I do READ a lot of crime and cosy crime novels, so it makes sense! If you want to see more, go to the new Read it Write it Sell it blog (RiWiSi, with news of a fab giveaway from the CrimeFest Writing weekend too...) and you'll also find my usual links the the Beginners' Guide to Self-Publishing, if you've ever wanted to write yourself.  Book of the Week is the WW2 trilogy part 2 - Daisy's War from fab author Merryn Allingham, just out! Plus, one of the most unusual vintage elements of our London Streets in a new feature - 'French or Dutch WIP Research #1'.

Click here to enter the comp and read about Crimefest and meeting Lee Child.

Finally I've just had some interesting news - I choose to call it interesting, which means destiny sometimes has a greater plan, right? Well right after I'd finally finished a particular piece of writing I've been working on for ages, I got a morning call from my landlord, who told me some news. If it actually happens, I should know next week - and it means the biggest change for me for about 9 years. I will keep you informed but I bet you can guess!

Anyway have a lovely week! I'm off to the Romantic Novelists' Association summer party then I have booked a couple of days annual leave (we have to use it up or we lose it!) and am going to see writing pal Alix near Okehampton in Devon once more. Can't wait!

Oh and if you're a QVC fan of Lola Rose or Bare Minerals or Bodyblade, or want to see some of the posts about the end of the Three Month Challenge we began in February, find out more on Monday's Back to You Blog here. Plus the latest guide to your daily food pyramid - and it's not what you'd think! By the way, this Monday at 8-9pm the webchat features OPI (25th.)

Ps if you're around, Sunday's QVC Today's Special Value product is an all action garden fountain from Bernini - it's fab!

best wishes and enjoy your week - summer's coming!

Interesting week for me - knowing I'm way behind with my own next chapters of French or Dutch. (I blame China!) So I got a dressing down from my QVC mate Charlie Brook - who gave me some home truths and made me feel a bit better! Well I'm off to Crimefest this weekend in Bristol with writing bestie Litty. So it should be a good opportunity to oil my writing cogs (ooer!) and get back in the saddle. ANd other such metaphors meaning I have to get my a** in gear! lol.

Meanwhile, a great new recommendation - if you haven't seen it already...

(The Liberty Sands Trilogy Book 1) eBook: Julia Roberts: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store So my pal from QVC Julia Roberts has self published her book - I wanted to mention it here, even though I haven't read it yet, since it's just out! Holly Wilson has landed a dream job but there is one proviso... she must keep it secret, and that means telling lies. Holly hates telling lies.
Her latest assignment has brought her to the paradise island of Mauritius where she meets a British couple, Robert and Rosemary, who share a tragic secret of their own.
The moment they introduce Holly to handsome writer, Philippe, she begins to fall in love, something she hasn't allowed herself to do for twenty years.
But Philippe has not been completely honest and when Holly stumbles across the truth, she feels totally betrayed.

I''m looking forward to reading it - maybe on the beach this summer! Good luck Jules and well done - am proud of you!

Been back a week from China and all’s well! Bodyclock's still a bit early - weird for missus night owl!

I’m a bit scared though – the Moonwalk is this Saturday and my training hasn’t exactly been stellar. I did do a few hours whilst at the spa at the weekend though – including a long 90 minute walk with virtually no problems. I do have a flat foot on my right and will have to transfer my orthotic insole to that side. Eeek! It’s getting nearer and nearer! Wish me luck! (link to sponsor us is on my latest QVC blog – link below. Thanks so much if you do!)

Also - if you didn’t know, it was my birthday on Sunday hence the spa break and a lovely Sunday lunch at Lauren’s. My daughter and her BF Nick did us proud – son Brad came with his wife Kari too, and Baloo didn’t quite know what to make of it all! Haha! I got a new Q-link necklace (google it – it’s fascinating) as a pressie as well as the spa, and Brad’s taking me to the theatre one night – any ideas what I should see? Any recommendations?

Such a funny pic of Baloo, Lauren’s spaniel! What could she be saying, do you think? Definitely needs a caption – such a fab photo bomb, kind of!

Tell you what I did do, though, coming back from China on the ten hour flight – I had a great TiFFT (try it for the first time club) – a five-movie film-fest! I saw Birdman, American Sniper, Still Alice (and the AWFUL ‘Jupiter Ascending’ which not even Mila Kunis could rescue) and Jennifer Aniston’s Cake. Film reviews of two of them are on my latest QVC blog from Friday – click on link below to read it – including a superb book of the week recommendation if you love suspense – ‘the Lie’ is by Cally Taylor and it was top 20 on Amazon kindle chart in the UK last time I looked – well done her! Links are all on my blog, where you’ll also see a vintage French and Saunders QVC skit and some sneaky peeks at upcoming QVC offers – click here for the latest QVC blog.

Anyway hope you’re enjoying the finer weather – what a lovely weekend it was! And if you’d like to take part in any of our groups or chats or keep in touch – the links are below. Webchats on this week’s Back to You QVC group on Monday night were with Bodyblade Bruce as usual, plus Tom from Alpha H and Caroline Sandry, fitness expert and coconut recipe cook. And of course our Three Month Challenge concludes next weekend. How have people got on?

Plus read the Q&As - More here on the Back to You blog.

(ps last week’s was with me!)

Have a lovely week and chat soon – next update will feature some pics from the birthday blog! And am off to Crimefest writing festival in Bristol. Best wishes!

Debbie Flint Tracie

I bought myself a pair of little balls that make a noise - worry ball type things - don't know what the Chinese name is - ever heard of them?

they've got a ying yang symbol on the outside and there in a little box that was my favourite present to myself

Dawn Robinson Are you looking forward to your Birthday xx

Debbie Flint Sharon-

Fresh air! Plentiful Non greasy non carb food choices in restaurants . Almond milk. Easy access to internet. Speaking without self editing first!

Sharon Harvey Awwww bless them, we have some of those stress balls, had them years and years they jangle....you twist them around in your hand...yours are very pretty. Debbie...you have pretty stress balls xx

Debbie Flint Adele

Good question

Actually one thing that was really good they used three glasses when selling wine to indicate top notes bottom notes et cetera

A bit like a l'occitane do with fragrance

That was very visual and very effective

Debbie Flint Kathryn

Oh and I missed the seance group on a Monday night ha ha hah!

Dawn Robinson Hahahahah Sharon  xx

adele Clark oh i say lets hope Q start selling wine again i think they did once before that i can remember Debbie Flint.

Debbie Flint Actually I took my body blade and it was a saving grace! i used nearly every day tee hee!

Sharon Harvey .....Dawn? whatever do you mean?

Debbie Flint Anne

Another good question yes the temple of heaven was… Heavenly ha ha

Debbie Flint Dawn

If they offered me a job out there I doubt very much whether I would take it I would miss everyone too much.

I like my life here ha ha

Mari Buckley Hiya Debbie! How did you keep your hair looking nice in 30 degree heat? When I was in Barbados recently it was also 30 degrees and the minute I stepped put the door my hair just flopped in all that humidity lol

Sue Stewart Good girl. We were so good as s group over the time you were away and over the bank holiday weekend. Keeping each other motivated and supporting each other.

Debbie Flint Lorna

I'm so pleased you liked the blogs I did my best every day even when I was completely wiped out

Dawn Hart Welcome home Debbie we all missed you luved your updates while you were in China, you are an inspiration to us all xxxx

Dawn Hart Home just in time for your birthday, card is in the post xxx

Helen Murphy Groups have been wonderful whilst I have been away Debbie especially when I was low and hit crisis point.

Debbie Flint Helen

This took me awhile to think of anything because to be honest we have very similar things to nearly everything I saw them sell

However they did have some very clever ahh bra type lingerie which I think would work here

It had a special strap at the front with three notches that allows it to pull you in a bit better than the standard types

Debbie Flint Set of seven bras different colours guess how much… 250 RMB, around £28!

Debbie Flint Lindsay

Thank hon! X

Tracie Wright did you manage to get to do any of the tea plantation tours, where they get you to taste alsorts of strange blends, my son brought back some really obscure flavours all packages only have Chinese writing on them so pot luck when we are brave enough to make a cupper with them convince one of them has a fish flavour

Debbie Flint Marj

Haha i'm glad! That was my intention!

X

Andie Stephany Hello you! How are the Pogs? Bet they were pleased to get mum home x

Debbie Flint Tracie-

No it was rocket fuel it nearly blew my head off!...

Debbie Flint Ali Keenan is sitting next to me and says sounds good make mine a double ha ha

Debbie Flint Thanks Sharon

So I have been told

Dawn Hart Ooo hello Ali waves  xxx

Sue Stewart Hi Ali Keenan xx

Carol Gillmore Hugs to Ali  xx

Sharon Harvey hahahahahahahaha......sorry...im supposed to delete those messages before they reach you

Tracie Wright love to Ali

Sue Stewart No leave them Sharon Harvey gives us all a laugh

Debbie Flint I don't remember but Ali keenan and just said yes she remembers it a while ago when we were in Battersea.

Actually when they sell wine in China they are not allowed to drink it on air - is just one of those rules!

Which is why Ali keenan doesn't work in China she says - ha ha

Anne Keating This is like the Two Ronnies where they are always two answers apart! xx

Helen Murphy Does Ali know if her lovely pendant will be back please? I have a friend with breast cancer and would love one for her.

Dawn Hart Lol Anne Keating xxx

Debbie Flint Mari

Actually I still have a supply of the ojon rub out cleanser which is a dry shampoo

Without that it wouldn't have looked as nice

Plus when it was really hot I just put it up in a little hairgrip and washed my fringe he he

Sharon Harvey Debbie....Stress balls aside.....how was the shopping/markets out there? x

Debbie Flint Sue

I'm so glad to read that Sue

I didn't really have a chance to read many updates as it was so difficult to get on Facebook and Twitter and YouTube out there

Debbie Flint Dawn bless you guess what I just picked up your letter from December which I had in my dressing room in a pile I was sorting out how ironic

Thank you very much I'll look forward to seeing it

Before anyone asks I am off Thursday to Sunday, we are going to Champneys for the weekend for my birthday on Sunday

Debbie Flint Helen

So glad to hear it. It warms my heart when I read what you girls do to support each other. #Veryproud

Kathryn Stewart It's so good to have you back. What did you eat say, for breakfast and what foods did you miss most? Ps bet pogs very glad to,have mum home, although well looked after its not the same as mum (so my three tell me!) lol

Debbie Flint Andie

Yes, ecstatic! Luv my pogs!

Debbie Flint Anne

Yes it is and I think it's more like four answers apart now

Kathryn Stewart Forgot to say hello Ali Keenan Kxx

Debbie Flint Ali says thank you to everyone saying hello

Helen yes she's just found out that it will definitely be back around October time the pendant and the ring as well. Whoop

Anne Keating At least!

Kathryn Stewart It's just like the seance group! Woo hoo

Debbie Flint Sharon

The best place for shopping is called the knock knock room.

You find it out the back of the pearl market near Steve's Electronics behind an unmarked door - you can guess what they have there

Helen Murphy That's a shame it's October as that's when my friend finishes her treatments. She said at least that way she can enjoy her Christmas Dinner. Love her positivity.

Debbie Flint Kathryn

Breakfast was the best part of the food out there

Because it's an international restaurant they had all the usual stuff. But for me it was bliss because they also had steamed and fried vegetables so most mornings I had vegetables and egg Yum

Debbie Flint Hah! I caught up!

Mari Buckley Ojon rub out cleanser...will have to look out for that, thanks Debbie. X

Kathryn Stewart Don't sell Ojon on QVC any more

Kathryn Stewart Well done, poor Bruce is in the back burner! All with you Debbie! Ha ha Kxx

Helen Murphy Going to Bruce too

Debbie Flint Which backburner Catherine is he on a plane again somewhere ? I didn't see his update earlier -been on air!

Kathryn Stewart He's in the other line, as it were!

Anne Keating You were looking at the wrong post Kathryn. He's inundated with questions. Not missing Debbie one bit! xx

Debbie Flint anne - ha ha x

Kathryn Stewart What did they make of your Bodyblade? Do they sell it there! Xx

Debbie Flint You know one funny thing when I was out there, we had a Chinese driver who spoke no English. We had to communicate via Google translate. Or I would use we chat which is an app everyone uses out there, and when it was time to meet him if he wasn't at the car I sent him a picture like this

Debbie Flint Kathryn

Actually no they don't sell it there they do things like treadmills still though

Sharon Harvey Bet he ran in the other direction!!

Kathryn Stewart Love the new way to hail your driver! Send a picture! Novel idea! You got, good at the selfies! Ha ha

Debbie Flint Here are some of the hosts-

Sue Stewart Kathryn I sent a driver a picture of Martin when we flew back onto Heathrow last year. He wasn't impressed. But the guy found us hehe x

Helen Murphy Moderator? Is that what they call the hosts?

Sue Stewart The guy looks so serious. The girls look friendly tho.

Debbie Flint Bad translation i think! Presenter trainer didnt know why it said moderator! Lol x

Sue Stewart Do they have Honora. I could imagine the silver fox selling his pearls to the Chinese lol

Kathryn Stewart Yes he looks like the crazy guy who, kept from cupboards in the Pink Panther movies! Ha ha

Dawn Hart Just want to say before time is up good to have you back Debbie & thank you as always Sharon Harvey xxx

Mari Buckley Haha that pic with the car

Debbie Flint Yan fei is the office heart throb! We both took a piss-take pic posing together like in his poster shot! Lol x

Kathryn Stewart Bless. Oh Debbie, you are a tonic, so so good you are back with your extended family! Thanks for taking part in this when you are tired and jet lagged  Kxx

Debbie Flint Sue

Actually they don't have honora but they do have Hagrit Gorali if anyone remembers her Israel jewellery. They have David Seagal jewellery. They have Nina Leonard fashion. And tiana B a very successful visit recently

Debbie Flint Kathryn -

Hahaaa!

Kathryn Stewart Tirana B are quite short so would suit the more diminutive stature! Don't see Yom Kim doing well! Xx

Debbie Flint Catherine

No problem I must get going shortly though as I have to drive home and currently my body clock feels like it's 3 AM

Sue Nevols Hope you have a good birthday......mine is the same day! Xxx

Sue Stewart I saw the Tiana B where they had the translation going on. My profile pic I'm wearing Tiana B.

Debbie Flint Haha! That face in taxi pic was saying - we are here, where are u, its raining! X

Debbie Flint Sue

A happy birthday in advance then Sue. I won't ask how many years difference there is between us!

Mari Buckley The Chinese presenters kook nice and I love that blue top the last one is wearing

Anne Keating Hubby watching football - asked me if I've managed to track down Debbie and Bruce. My fingers must be moving so fast, he can't see them moving lol. I've got certificates for fast typing but not this fast!!! xx

Live Web-Chat with Bruce from Bodyblade Monday 4th May 2015

Hello Bodyblade Ohana! I know we all missed our Debbie Flint and welcome her back to the U.K.!! I was planning to chat at 8pm tonight and understand if you will be going back and forth between Debbie and I if Debbie will be on Back to You at 8pm. I am unable to chat later tonight so hopefully, this will be OK with all. Tonight, let's review Perma-habits for our new members and discuss the value of a High Intensity Interval Training workout.     Emma Harvey Hello I got my body blade on sat and have used it everyday I am very sore should I keep going and go past the pain. Or take it slow ? Thank you

    5 May at 02:58 · Like

Tracey Ferns Michele I was struggling however if you leave the blade down , just interlock your fingers and move your clasped hands a half an inch side to side quicly that should give you a feel of what the motion should feel like ......add the blade and continue with that movement and youll find it a little easier . I did this and now can get a wobble on the blade and a very slight movement in my hips .xxx

Suzi Lince Hi Bruce, I've had a difficult couple of weeks so haven't yet developed a habit of doing the bb. But I'm still motivated, and have started to pick it up again. I figure there was no point doing it when I was really too overtired as I might learn to not enjoy it, and so far I've loved it when I have done it regularly. Only had it 2 weeks!

Many thanks in advance for your help!x

Wendy Cole Hi Bruce you may recall I asked your advice about using body blade to help get in shape for my sons wedding. Well although I haven't done it every single day, I do it most days and am really happy to report that along with sensible eating I have gone down three sizes. The wedding is next week so I'm happy with my progress. I will continue with it to help me lose more when I get back from my holiday.

Bruce Hymanson I recommend 3-4 days a week training with Bodyblade to see and feel great results. Some of you prefer training even more frequently as long as you don't "over train" which may cause over fatigue and pain in the muscle. It is important to warm up and cool down during each training session. This will help to reduce the lactic acid (waste products) in the muscle and blood stream after exercise. It's important to make sure you receive plenty of Oxygen with nutrients to minimize the pain in the muscle.

    5 May at 03:11 · Like · 5

Bruce Hymanson If you want to exercise daily, Just keep remember you can pick it up and put it down throughout the day. Bodyblade training is cumulative. If you want to do the workouts for 10minutes as they are designed in the DVD, do those 3-4 days a week.

Bruce Hymanson Perma-habits are all around us in our everyday life. We take it for granted and don't think about them. For example, we all bath, brush our teeth, sleep and work (some differently than others but we all contribute to the house or family). How many of us do many of these things at the same time of day or simply would not let a day go by where we don't brush our teeth. It's second nature. The value of that is to maintain healthy teeth which allow us to chew our food and extract the nutrients we need to stay healthy. Doing something new for approximately 21 days will make it a habit. A good habit is to fit Bodyblade into that 21 day habit. Once you do that, you will automatically include Bodyblade where stopping will be foreign to you.

Bruce Hymanson The key to success in anything we do is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Right!! The more you do, the better your body adapts to the training. Your body is designed to be as economical and efficient as possible. It makes sense that the goal of your body is the expend the least amount of energy to be the most effective. If we were going to design an engine, we would want that engine to be fast, fuel effecient, accurate and most importantly, reliable. Our body is the most sophisticated engine ever designed. So how do we make it even better? The answer is HIIT (high intensity interval training)

Wendy Lawrence Emma Harvey, you will notice on a lot, if not most of Bruce's videos he advises 3 - 4 times a week for a full workout, and a couple of weeks ago on this page he said he has nothing against us using the BB every day but not for a full workout, You will see lots of comments on here also. It's very addictive I know, All the videos are well worth a look as there are lots of variations, some including stretches which I find very good. If you haven't tried Hampton Court that is brilliant. x

    5 May at 03:28 · Like · 3

Bruce Hymanson In any training, the body adapts. This is known as S.A.I.D. (Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands). This simply means that the body gets used to regular aerobic training that doesn't train differently or require more physical demand on the body. Like jogging or walking on a treadmill at the same pace, same distance day after day. Yes, burning some calories and training at an aerobic level but after awhile, the body needs more to grow. You also need more to challenge the body and have a lasting metabolic change AFTER you finish the exercise. Burning those additional calories once you stop exercising is very very important

    5 May at 03:29 · Like · 2

    Helen Murphy Hi Bruce

Not using BB right now as feeling very fatigued after being unwell and admitted to hospital this week. I want to get back to using it as I love it and think mentally will help too. I talk about it to anyone who will listen. ...See More

    5 May at 03:31 · Like · 3

Bruce Hymanson The term for higher metabolism and burning more calories after the exercise is EPOC (Excess Post exerciseOxygen Consumption). Meaning that you continue to burn more calories after you stop training. Kind of like turning the car engine off after a drive but the engine is still warm to the touch.

Bruce Hymanson Using Bodyblade for short powerful intervals of one minute of blading followed by a minute of body movement is exactly what we want to do to maximize burning calories during and after the workout. Plus, we focus on strength, balance, coordination, stabilization, muscle endurance and improving cardiovascular fitness. The bi-product is a more functional, active body capable of doing tasks efficiently and without having to think about it! The body loves this type of exercise because it is not just exercise...It is brain to muscle exercise. The neurological connection from the brain to the motors of your body. It is precise, automatic, adjusting to just you, and allows you to control the pace of the workout. Yes, your goal is to do the workout intensely to grow stronger but still at your own pace.     Chris Jopp I managed to do the Super 6 mobility today, first full work out I've done for a week as I've had a cold but have picked up the BB on and off every day to do the Super 6 for 10-15secs on each bit. Feeling better now so onwards and upwards LOL!

    5 May at 03:52 · Like · 4

Bruce Hymanson Hi Anne! Taking your Bodyblade on a walk is fantastic! Not only do you have a little extra weight in your hand just holding it but every couple of minutes, put the blade out to the side in a Jab position and drive the blade for about 30-60 seconds. Switch hands and do the same on the opposite side. This will raise your heartrate, require more balance and Core participation during those 60 seconds and enhance the training effect. Raising the heartrate and increasing the physical challenge will also burn more calories, move you out of the low level aerobic work and into a High Intensity Interval Training workout which is more effective. Good choice and perfect match

Chris Jopp Thanks Bruce, liking exercise is all new to me! LOL! I've always hated any sort of exercise except swimming (which I don't do often enough) but since I got my BB my husband has said how proud of me he is because I'm working at it every day. Today the Super 6 mobility, tomorrow a "rest" day with just picking it up on and off throughout the day, then I'll do the LA Beach workout on Wednesday.

Be patient with yourself, make exercise with Bodyblade a perma-habit and hopefully, I have helped you understand how valuable HIIT training is for your growth. We are all in this together and thank you for continued support for all those listening in each week. I will continue to review and answer questions throughout the week. Until next time, be well!

Blog 150406 b2u renee and keeley elemis webchats; the truth about fat shows why bodyblade works so well at burning fat!

This week – the truth about fat – well almost… Why drink coconut water?... How to make yourself do something if you really don’t want to …

The Truth About Fat… well, some of it! Well I watched it, on BBC iPlayer – and on the whole, well done that presenter! Saleyha Ahsan is an overweight Doctor who seeks out how best to shift body fat, and what fats are good or bad in the latest from this BBC doc series.

On the whole she does a good job – it’s worth a watch – go here to iPlayer (avail only until beginning of May.) I was a bit disappointed that the first half of the programme seems to abhor ‘fat’ per se – like people did in the ‘old days!’ The segments would make a layman think that ANY fat is bad. But regulars to this blog, and anyone with half an eye on the health news for the last year or so, will know there are different fats and they’re NOT all the same. The distinction didn’t come till too far into the show, IMO. For instance we need fat – good fat – so showing that fat enters the bloodstream after a meal, be it burger and chips or healthy salmon and avocado, and makes plasma in a blood sample cloudy, is a bit of a ‘so what.’ Without differentiating, what’s the point? It definitely isn’t a ‘OMG how terrible!’ result, which is what that segment it made it out to be. Then I was disappointed there was such a lack of science involved in the ‘eat only under 1% fat’ foods experiment, given that many would be eating a lot of sugar instead, which also as we found out later in the programme, is made into fat  by the body. If you’re going to watch any of it, do watch the second half.

The best bit was the exercise experiment, showing why High Intensity Interval Training works. (HIIT) (It’s here – watch it soon in case it gets deleted.) And how FAT is actually used up during exercise and WHY HIIT sequences keep the fat-burning effect going for hours after the exercise stops.

So – revelation! – that’s why Bodyblade (item 432954 on QVCuk.com) works so well in helping you lose weight!

Bodyblade is H.I.I.T!

It is, by definition, high intensity interval training. I’m going to ask Bruce to do a new sequence when he comes back at the start of May – 4th May is when I’ll have a show with him I believe.  ‘High’ being the operative word, by the way. Great news for anyone who wants to get the fat burned off – even up to two and a half hours after exercise stops, you can double the amount of fat you’re burning off.

Do get the Bodyblade – it’s back in stock currently on QVC UK – just click here to get it.

And do join our Bodyblade UK Facebook group, click here to ping a request to join – it’s the vital support system that keeps you going and makes you feel you’re not on your own.

Bruce also held another live webchat this Monday – I summarise it below.

Any other programmes coming on, that you’ve spotted? Do post the links on the groups!

The science bit - What about how exercise helps the body deal with the glucose in your blood stream?

Yet more benefits of exercise. Found this on youtube – thought it was a really good clear explanation. for you to watch. It’s a fab explanation from Dr Brian Walsh, the guy in charge of fatisnotyourfault.com who here explains WHY exercise is so important for activating the part of the cell responsible for taking glucose out of the blood stream. Really good simple ‘science bit’ – worth a watch. Click here.

Other news –

-          Prof Lustig video – by me! And taking it back to basics – combining exercise with the whole ‘avoid too much sugar if you want to lose weight’ theme, which we return to over and over again (!), here’s an eleven minute segment from a talk I went to by anti-sugar crusader, Prof Robert Lustig – this section is about the all-important hormones which influence our eating - incl insulin, and the other hormones that signal satiety in the body and how sugar disrupts it all. Click here to watch.

-          And another Prof Lustig anti-sugar lecture – ‘Frontiers of Science’ – it’s fab, specially for anyone for whom the long 90 min bio-chemistry video (sugar the bitter truth) is too in depth – do please give this one  a go – it’s brilliant (100 mins) – click here.

-          7 more reasons to drink coconut water well this week the pack from Tiana organic coconut products arrived, including a coconut water. I read this article and immediately drank it! Click here.

-          How To Stay Motivated When You’re Not In The Mood To Do Anything This is quite god! Re making yourself do stuff! Click here

-          Breath Exercise and Mini-mindfulness – nice – and ‘the Mindful Eating Diet’ – that’s TTFLs Freedom Eating Principle number 3 right there! Hoorah! They’re catching up and the word is spreading! Click here.

Three Month Challenge – as the three month challenge reaches over half way through (it ends May 16th) here’s another lovely bit of feedback on Till the Fat Lady Slims group on Facebook –

-          Joan Dickinson “As well as inches off usual places, I've had to have links taken out of my watch, and my bra goes two notches tighter…”

-          Elaine Daniel “l Lost 5lbs and 10 inches xx which is pretty dam good as i struggle to lose weight with my under active thyroid xxxxreally really happy xx”

-          Amy Wall “Another NSV (non-scales victory.) I just put my Vionic sandals on that I haven't worn since last summer and couldn't believe how chubby my feet must have been because I had to tighten ALL the Velcro straps at least an inch and more on a couple of them. Never thought to measure round my feet lol xx”

(Go to the TTFLS tab on this webpage at top, in order to discover more about Freedom Eating and Till the Fat lady Slims 2.0 books and where to get them.)

These are all from people following my Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 book (item 704285 on QVC) and/or exercising, most using Bodyblade (item 432954 on QVC) – it makes me feel really proud to read comments like this. Not too late to join us if you want to! Just join one of the groups below.

Sue Stewart Good evening Renee it's so lovely to have you chat with us today. I have just purchased my first item of your clothes. I got the TSV of the 2 pair pack of Woman in Control range. I had the black/white in the petite size xs. They are perfect in fit and length. They are the best I have found in the pedal pushers style. Will we be able to get just the short length style on its own? Would love a few more pairs of these for the summer xx

Renee Greenstein Sue I am so happy you like my Women with Control TSV! I do have another great set of crop pants in petites.

Jan Lee Burgess Renee possibly a 4x, I have friends that have said the same, the 3x sometimes is big enough depending on the style but a definite 4x would be wonderful xx

Christine Kelly Evening ladies, I am relatively new to Renee’s clothing. My first purchase was the new yours taxi scarf. I love it. NYC is one of my all-time favourite places and wearing the scarf takes me rich back there.

Renee Greenstein Jan one thing I would suggest is to look at my specs on QVC.and see if they work for you;

Christine Kelly Apologies for the mis- spelling! Lol

Jan Lee Burgess I have a couple where the size has been great for me, but need to be able to have others too, but I will, go back and check the specs, thanks for answering my question xx

Keeley Aydin – elemis – Webchat – Monday 6th April 2015

BACK TO YOU LIVE WEB CHAT KEELEY AYDIN ELEMIS

Sara Mahmoud Hi Keeley, I'm currently using the brightening collection to get rid of marks left by spots however my skin is still coming up in spots. What skin routine would you recommend to calm my skin down whilst still using the brightening collection? Thanks

Sharon Harvey Hi Keeley! How are you? Hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Sooooo looking forward to this weekend’s tsv

Dawn Robinson Hello Keeley I must share how delighted I am with my Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment! It was a gift for Mother's Day & I certainly give it a 10/10 xx

Keeley Aydin Hi Sara, the Brightening range would be more for pigmentation marks rather than scaring from breakouts. I would try the Tri Enzyme Wash in the morning and on an evening after cleansing, the Tri Enzyme Night Cream and the Tri Enzyme Mask after Papaya Peel x2 a week and this will also help with the breakouts and maybe slot in a course of Bliss Capsules too x

Keeley Aydin Hello Sharon, yes thank you eaten far too much chocolate that I should not have done as been doing Christianne Wolfe heal thing eating and was doing really well!

Keeley Aydin Hi Dawn I love this product too as so easy to use, light weight but delivers fab results

Sara Mahmoud Thanks Keeley x

Sharon Harvey Oh Keeley! That is funny, don’t worry though it is Easter and eggs are a necessary part of our diet.....in all honestly, how are you doing on the eating plan? X

Keeley Aydin I was doing fab first two weeks I lost 10lbs!

Sharon Harvey OMG!!!!! Really..... That is amazing! You are tiny anyway.....I bet you feel fabulous! Well done xx

Lynn Parry Hi Keeley am I ok to use the Papaya Enzyme peel before Liquid Gold or is it best to do it on non LG nights? X

Helen Strutynskyj Hi Keeley ~ I have quite a few medical issues for which I am taking a lot of medication. I have recently stopped taking a tablet that controls hormones & my skin has flared up terribly. It has become greasy & spotty with enlarged pores but it also look...See More

Keeley Aydin Hello Lynn, I think I would use it on the non-Liquid Gold evenings as you will then get the most out of both products

Sharon Harvey Dawn, I love love love that product! I have seen amazing results with the Elemis pro collagen advanced eye treatment!! I started seeing a reduction in lines and wrinkles within 10 days I couldn’t believe it! I love Elemis products! I have to say I am sooooo excited about the TSV Keeley has been teasing us all with.....especially looking forward to trying the Total Glow bronzing moisturiser!!!

Yvonne Simpson Hi Keeley you’re looking good glad to see your back can't wait for TSV.

Sharon Harvey ...Oh and Bliss capsules....perfect name for the perfect product.....give a real boost of goodness to my skin x

Lynn Parry The Elemis Pro collagen advanced eye treatment worked instantly for me and reduced puffiness, can I take it over eyelid and up to lash line Keeley? Or just around orbital bone? X

Keeley Aydin Hello Helen , I would say without a doubt to slot in 1-2 mths of Bliss Capsules, it is also important to make sure that you are exfoliating twice a week with a Papaya Peel to keep the skin thoroughly cleansed as this will help with refining the look of the pores too, after Papaya I would use Tri Enzyme Gel Mask and on an evening I would use Pro Collagen Oxygenating Night cream as this is the perfect choice for anyone who's skin is challenged due to illness, watch out this weekend as some of the products will be on offer

Margaret O'Brien I have the same question as Lynn Lynn Parry can I take the pro collagen eye cream over my eyelid or is it only around the orbital bone? Mx

Shaz Brown Hi Keeley Aydin, Nice to have you here. I have quite oily skin that can be prone to breakouts. I find pcm cream is too rich and brings me out in spots. Can you recommend a day moisturiser?

Keeley Aydin Thank you Yvonne really looking forward to been back on air and bringing some great new collections, very pleased that we have 4 easy pay too x

Helen Strutynskyj Thanks so much Keeley. I was wondering if the Bliss Capsules would help so I shall definitely try them. I'll keep an eye out for the products on QVC next weekend although I have a Pro Collagen Night Cream already!  Thanks again. Xx

Sharon Harvey woo hood....TSV....TSV....TSV.... EXCITED X

Sara Mahmoud Will it be possible to have a complete tri enzyme kit available at any time soon Keeley? Thanks

Keeley Aydin Lynn when you first apply the product take a small amount on your ring finger and gently tap around then eye contour area , then massage a small amount onto your finger tips and gently tap over the whole eye area

Margaret O'Brien Thank you Keeley for answering our question. Looking forward to the TSV. Mx

Keeley Aydin Thank You Shaz , the Total Glow Bronzing Moisturiser that is in the TSV that just gradually gives a hint of colour on the skin has a lovely light texture so would be worth trying, normally the Pro Collagen does help more oily prone skin as it contains balancing seaweeds but try this one and let me know how you get on

Keeley Aydin Sara we will be having some new collections with the Tri Enzymes in

Sara Mahmoud Thanks Keeley, I think will be spending more than I thought I would this weekend.

Keeley Aydin Sara not sure if they will be in this weekend as not had the show contents but as soon as I know I will post on my Facebook page x

Sharon Harvey Keeley, would the TSV be a great start for an ELEMIS beginner? X

Sara Mahmoud Thanks Keeley x

Sue Foley Looked forward to next week Keeley Aydin

Margaret Rodger Hi Keeley could you please bring a supersize or duo of instant refreshing gel! It’s literally the only thing that helps with aches & pains. I love it x

Keeley Aydin Hi Sharon, I I think it would be an amazing place to start as you have a Cleanser that can also be used as a mask that is multi award winning, a day and night cream for all skin types that will leave even the most neglected of skins glowing and hydrated and h3 of our most indulgent body products bodyydrated and

Keeley Aydin sorry hydrated and 3 of our most indulgent body products x

Carol Gillmore Hi Keeley thank you so much for bringing us fantastic products but what would be the one product you couldn't live without? Xx

Keeley Aydin Sorry my charge finished on iPad so using phone and kept pressing wrong buttons lol

Sharon Harvey Brilliant x

Keeley Aydin Margaret that is a great idea will pass it on!

Shona Robertson Is the tsv suitable for sensitive skin?

Keeley Aydin Carol, has to be Pro Collagen Marine Cream as so versatile to cope with all changes my skin goes through, the flexibility that it can be used day and night and around the eyes. It is hard though to keep it to one as I also adore so many others in the range toI.

Keeley Aydin Sharon, I wished I was that small and yesterday I ate all I had lost in chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Karen Hunt Hi Keeley, got a glimpse of the tsv. I've not tried any of the face products before so are they OK for skin easily prone to breakouts?

Keeley Aydin Shona, yes all the Elemis products are suitable for even the most sensitive of skins but if you are in any doubt patch test under your jaw line first

Carol Butler Flood I love the circuit training video the best . As i can't quite manage the overhead reach and tricep push for very long . So this exercise is great in 10 second bursts . I also do the video with debbie in studio with the variations but find my co ordination isn't good with the last routine . This is the only workout regime i have ever kept up with . Been using my BB for 3 months now and still eager to use it every other day  a big thank you to you

Christine Grochowina Hi Bruce hope you had a great Easter. Had a day off yesterday but now back to normal. Will be doing some of the new workouts later. Since starting using BB have felt better and lost weight. Difference is noticed and am chuffed to bits. The new workouts are great. I tend to do some of the Hampton park ones for longer as I need to get the rhythm of the blade right. I have noticed a difference in my posture. How is it that when bb my back feels fine but as soon as I stop it starts being sore again later. Am I doing something wrong

Bruce Hymanson Hi Karen. All exercise with Bodyblade will address your tummy or your Core. The Ab Crunch and Hip & Thigh Sculptor are really strong but all will help. Watch the Belly Blaster video on you tube as well.

Bruce Hymanson Hi Jude, The Psoas is a deep muscle group attaching to the spine and Femur of the leg. The group is a hip flexor muscle and therefore, to stretch, you want to lye on your back, draw your knee to chest on one side, leave the other leg straight. This will help stretch the hip. There are several other great stretches to do as well but this is a good basic stretch. As for Bodyblade execise to assist with stretching, I would say the Back & Shoulder Reach since you must lengthen your body. Hope that helps

Julia Gathercole Hi Bruce , hope you're enjoying Easter. I've just finished the super six and warm up , still struggling to do a full minute of the hip and thigh. My sister and my son both had a go with my bb, both have now got their own!

Bruce Hymanson Hi Anne, I always like to exercise first thing in the morning. Your metabolism is the lowest at that time of day so doing exercise will increase your fat burning and jump start your muscle and blood flow. There is no negative to exercising at any time of the day but Morning is always best.

2 hrs · Like · 5

Bruce Hymanson Hi Madeleine, Always get the approval of your MD before starting any exercise program. Having said that, start with the Super6 workout and you can do these sitting in a chair. Mix it up by standing when you can and sitting as needed. These exercises don't require jumping or heavy lower body work when standing and if you sit and activate the muscle you are making progress.

2 hrs · Like · 3

Bruce Hymanson Jackie, the single best lower body exercise is the Hip & Thigh Sculptor. I make a video showing additional lower body exercises too which is on the pinned post for you to enjoy.

Amy Wall Hi Bruce. Just completed my first week being back after health issues and have managed the Hampton Court every other day and definitely feel the benefit and enjoy the 10 sec bursts with the stretching as I don't feel that I'm overdoing it. I have just found the belly blasting video and going to give that a go during our virtual workout at 9pm with all the other Bodybladers. Hope you have had a good weekend xx

Once we have that, we can sell on the site. I know it is frustrating while we wait for the DVD and other collaterals for Bodyblade but we have to go according to QVC rules and regulations. We'll get there.

Bruce Hymanson Hi Kathryn. It is difficult for me to provide treatment advice without a physical exam. There are many great stretching exercises for the trunk including flexion, rotation and extension. Most people when gardening are bent over for prolonged periods of time. A good solution to this problem is to stand straight intermittently, place your hands on your waist while doing a slight back extension 4-5 times. This will often help to prevent the discomfort of prolonged trunk flexion and spinal flexion. Think about it as giving equal time in extension to balance too much time in flexion

Bruce Hymanson Our key to burning calories is to activate as many muscles in the body at the same time, keep them working as a functional team and gradually increase the work load on them to challenge our progress. This is part of HIIT training which allows us to improve. The only way to grow is to challenge your body. You can maintain but continuing to exercise but to increase your fitness level requires the challenge. Most of you probably do this automatically with Bodyblade. It's all about the "Flex Intensity"!

1 hr · Like · 5

Anne Keating Bruce, not that I'll ever reach it, but is there a maximum flex intensity for a Bodyblade? xx

1 hr · Like · 3

Anne Keating I think not Kathryn ! xx

1 hr · Like · 2

Bruce Hymanson Hi Anne, great question. there is a max flex intensity for each blade. It is essentially when the flex in the blade reaches almost )( of approx 24-30 inches depending on the blade. Almost the amount of flex if you took the tips and flexed the blade as though you would place in your suit case. Once the blade reaches that flex and you ae capable of driving the blade at that intensity, you are maxed out. The last 6-8 inches of flex is putting you in the max range so most people can't stay there very long without rapid fatigue. Some exercises are easier to do then others. Chest Press is easier than Ab Crunch or Hip & Thigh Sculptor.

Bruce Hymanson Tracie, great question. our QVC group is very special. There is not a QVC U.S. group like this yet. Mostly because of the QVC rules using their name. I would love to have a QVC international group where U.S. and U.K. could chat together. What do you all think about that?

Chris Jopp Hi Bruce, new to BBing, at the moment I'm using a flexi bar and having problems with the hip and thigh sideways movements. I can get the blade moving in one hand but the minute I add in the other hand it all stops! LOL! I have quite fat wrists and am prone to trapped nerves in them (not carpel tunnel). I'm having fun getting to know the routines and hope to get better at it all and start seeing some difference. Happy Easter

Bruce Hymanson On the subject of face book. I have a facebook page which is simply the regular face book page for Bodyblade from Mad Dogg Athletics. I don't do any chats there but you could check it out to see what might be posted from time to time.  I would also recommend that everyone visitwww.bodyblade.com and sign up to receive my regular newsletter. There is usually a question of the month, exercise of the month, articles etc which you may enjoy. Our Bodyblade QVC group is pretty special and this may just add more for you.

Bruce Hymanson Another hour has flown by. So many great comments and posts from all of you. I know there are many many people who do not post but attend and learn from our conversations. For those of you who are listening in, I encourage you to ask questions and share your progress with the group. We have a beautiful support for each other to succeed and improve our life. Recently I was asked what single word would I use to describe Bodyblade. For me, its all about what you feel after exercising with Bodyblade so I asked several people what the word was for them. I will ask you the same thing now. I can tell you the answers I received included Joy, peace, happiness, independence, liberating, confidence, self esteem and more. It's clear to me that this is not a fitness training too but a life changer. Have a wonderful week. Be well!!

he’s so funny!

Hope your weekend is going well?

Here’s a little Easter Surprise gift for those who were thinking about getting a new book. You know when you find out there’s a really good offer on which you didn’t know anything about? Well Amazon have literally just done a Daily Deal – on my latest eBook novel! My steamy romance ‘Take a Chance on Me’ is only 99p but briefly – do take advantage – go here to get it or copy this link if you want to tell people about it too – otherwise it’s £2.99 once offer ends.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Take-Chance-Me-Choc-Lit-ebook/dp/B00UG6VSVS

Thanks to Choc Lit for helping to make it happen (NB ‘TACOM’ is my original steamy romance – tastefully spicy’ – lol – previously called Hawaiian Affair. The prequel is Hawaiian Escape and the sequel is Hawaiian Retreat, both on Amazon.)

It’s actually taken my book to the heady heights of the top 50 in the UK Kindle store, and number 2!! in the all important women’s romance chart. Am so proud!

If you’re too late to get it at the lower price, you can always get it anyway and get a refund within seven days if you’re not completely happy with it! (No I never used to know they did that either!) OR just read the first ten per cent on the ‘look inside’! We all love a free sample, don’t we?!

What about this getting ready for China thing then?

Well a week today I will be jetting off on a plane to Beijing for three weeks’ training QVC presenters at CNR Mall. I’ve got to find some good face masks for the pollution there – not good given I just had a cold! And I’ve decided I will be packing my Bodyblade – hoping to keep up the training for the Moonwalk charity event mid May.

Today I took Daisy Dog for a loooong walk and look what happened when we got back!

Image

She was so whacked out, she didn’t move for hours, not even when I ran the little GTech vac near her ear – normally she runs a mile! But I guess she’d already run about three miles so hey!

Wobble by the Willow. As promised, here’s the link to last weekend’s fab bodyblade videos we did at Hampton Court – including the ‘willow wobble’ – a martial-arts-inspired sequence about five mins long – good for variety.

This week’s QVC blog has coconut cake, Marine Boy and Cinderella RCM manicure, more about our little excursion to the picturesque palace – PLUS – there’s a cool competition – you only need to leave a comment on the blog itself to enter – good for anyone wanting some Liquid Gold from Alpha H and skincare from Flora Mare. Click here to see it!

And the Back to You group’s Webchats this week featured a great Q&A with Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun – do read it if you’re wondering about the clever once a day sun protection range, click here. And if you read my ‘read it write it sell it’ blog, there’s a focus on audiobooks plus Five Literary Sex Scenes you’ve probably not read - here.

Hope you have fab Easter! I saw my son Brad and his lovely wife Kari this morning – both a bit hungover, I must say! Haha! They had a wedding to go to last night and were a bit worse for wear this morning. Now I’m getting stuck in to some more writing – lots to do before my trip.

Hope you have a smashing time over this weekend and let’s hope the weather’s a bit better on Monday eh! Haha!

And here’s a parting present – a bonus blooper featuring QVC host Chloe having a little mishap live on air! Click here. https://grabyo.com/g/v/gNGR6sNg5ml
