Performing with a Live Band in Chiswick - 'Love Music' concert
22 November 2016

i just love this pic! One of the proudest, most satisfying experiences of my life was last weekend at the Love Music concert at St Michael's church in Bath Rd Chiswick. Talented musicians and singers... and me... got a chance to perform in the beautiful, acoustically amazing, cavernous church near Turnham Green tube.

Id' been asked to take part when Lorna mentioned me to Sara the lady who works for Bown Building firm, which is the family business full of brilliant musicians, behind the event. This was their second year. Lorna works for Chiswick Buzz the online mag for W4, and was there to record the whole thing too. Now her fab report is out - to see what it was all for, and the other performers, click here.

THe rehearsals were all afternoon - Go here to see the live Facebook video I did during rehearsals.

I chose a few of my favourite songs, and despite my career on TV, was duly terrified, dry mouthed and petrified I'd forget my words. But it all went well. Here's the first song, with Hugh on piano - Adele's Someone Like You

It's been a karaoke fave for ages!

Then I had the opportunity to sing along with the Eric Gilchrist Quintet, his amazing jazz band - they did their own performances too and were excellent, and so full of joie de vivre! My two songs were That Ole Devil Love, and then one of my top tunes, (now I've learnt it!!) - What a Difference a Day Makes. Both are to be heard on this little video which my mum did, bless her - not quite got the hang of the camerawork, so close your eyes if you don't want to feel sea sick! lol.

Well it all went very well! I just love singing in the old fashioned war time style, and it was an amazing feeling and a highlight of my year to sing with a live band like Eric's. .The energy is superb and really does half the job for me to have them there. One of them took my card so you never know what might be next. I'd be happy to do a few numbers if they do another charity concert maybe. And Ali Keenan, my colleague on QVc, has said we should record an album for charity in her hubby colin's studio, so watch this space!

We also did a finale where everyone joined in, 'As Long as I have Music', which will be on video at some point and I will add it here too! Not seen it myself yet but I thoroughly enjoyed it, made me want to do more choral stuff.

Lovely little Lara and Issy came too and it was lovely to have mum and her partner David there to watch. Mum was super proud and I was delighted they came, along with around 200 others too. Several thousand pounds was raised for the three local charities the church and the Bown family firm support.

I was very happy to be asked to join in and maybe next year I'll do it again!

Hope you enjoy the videos
