A very timely book of the week - just noticed the byline to one of my most-recommended self-help books of all time - Wayne Dyer's 'Your Erroneous Zones.'

'Escape Negative Thinking and Take Control of Your Life' seems a very pertinent message - especially this week, given the big EU referendum! But more importantly, how it can help most people deal with most aspects of their life not turning out to be the way they wanted it to be.

I remember the first time I encountered Wayne Dyer - courtesy of a Tony Robbins interview with him on a series of audiobooks called Powertalk (you can sometimes find them on Amazon.) Then I got one or two of Wayne's books and I was hooked. I was happy to meet him too, when i returned to QVC in autumn 2009. His sad passing last year has left a hole iin the world, but his legacy lives on and if you like whta you read there are dozens of other works you can use to help get a reality check on life. I certainly did. I loved some of his catch phrases -

'you'll get over it'

'whether you believe you can or believe you can't you're probably right.'

'give uup your need to be right'

be independent of the good or bad opinion of others'

and many more.

Well this book is as good a place as any to start your self-help journey and of course there's a whole host of other recommendations on my blog here.

I write this as I sit in a wonderful writing retreat called Chez Castillon near Bordeaux. And reflecting on how far I have come in the 16 years since I first discovered Wayne and co, and began my own 'journey' into self-discovery. I cetainly have managed to take control of limiting beliefs in my own life and I hope this book hellps you too.

on amazon here.

other news -

- Life's a Drag  - a reminder that my hostess at Chez Castillon , Janie Millman, is also a published author. Her 'life's a drag' is also timely considering the discussions about the LGBT community in the news of late. And what's more it's a great book! more here.

RIP Wayne Dyer – my favourite self-help speaker. Big News – Webchats on Q Page – the line up is out! Webchat Q&A this week from Leigh, Tarte Cosmetics and Bruce Bodyblade. AND which big brand has joined my Medical Detection Dogs fundraising team?

Oh I was soooo sad this week to hear of the passing of one of life’s great men – Wayne Dyer, erstwhile QVC guest, self-help guru and genius writer, who died at the weekend. Such a shame – for all concerned but he leaves such an amazing legacy. I list a couple of my favourite books of his below. If you’ve never heard of him do read this lovely tribute on MindBodyGreen – go here.

For anyone in the wellness world, Wayne Dyer was a legend for his ambition and inspiration. As he once said, "There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there's only scarcity of resolve to make it happen." (The Power Of Intention).

He backed up his positivity with book sales that made publishers take the self-help category seriously (his first book Your Erroneous Zones sold over 35 million copies), and a career that lasted for four decades.

When I went through my own difficult transition time, when I left QVC, got divorced, changed jobs several times, learned freedom eating and rediscovered myself, his teachings inspired me more than anything else. Here are a few of the sayings he gave me, which also played a role with my own children. My son Brad even made a seminal piece of artwork for his A Level featuring some of his sayings.

‘Give up your need to be right.’

‘Be independent of the good and bad opinion of others.’

‘You’ll see it when you believe it … whatever you believe will be true for you.’

‘Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right.’

‘what you focus on expands… you’ll just get more of it, including something you don’t want, if all you do is keep putting your attention on it.’

‘Don’t die with your music still in you.’

‘You’re not a human being having a spiritual experience, you’re a spiritual being having a human experience.’

‘Everything in the world is as it is meant to be… and so is your desire to change it.’

‘In relationships, if you have the choice to be right or to be kind, pick kind.’

If you wake every morning at 4am, ‘don’t go back to sleep, the morning breeze has secrets to tell,’

And if someone is constantly critical of you and your choices – ‘when I made this decision I didn’t have you in mind.’ (!!)

Or if they still keep on –  ‘you’ll get over it.’! Hah!

Here are ten more.

I loved his story about being a ‘Scurvy Elephant’ – google it.

Wayne Video – the power of contemplation and talking about his childhood here  and if you’ve never seen his work before, here’s one of my favourites -  I love this old one, ‘how to get what you really really really really want’ how to get what you really really really really want’ – watch it here.

And a more recent one is here – your reality is created by your thoughts.

Also - On his website right now, a chance to see his movie The Shift – “Wayne loved this film and wanted as many people as possible to see it and get the benefits of learning to go from Ambition to Meaning in their life. In memory of Wayne, we are offering all of you the opportunity to watch The Shift for FREE for the next 7 days. Here is the link

Pic of serena and wayne

What if he was your dad? What must it have been like to be in his family? Serena Dyer, one of his 8 children, tells more about it, and made me wonder what my life would have been like had I had this influence earlier. And whilst I had my own version of him – a mini version in my father (who died aged just 52 in 1992 but always listened to my grand ideas) – I have at least tried my hardest to pass on to my own children a few of the messages and powerful beliefs that his work gifted to me, at an important time in their lives. Go here to see what Serena says and to find out more about his amazing beliefs. I just wish they taught it in schools. And I just wish every parent would have that type of belief in their own children, especially before the age of seven (listen to ‘the Biology of Belief’ to find out why that age.)

His Work I would love to recommend his work to anyone who has difficulty coping with their stage of life, or with hardships, depression, loneliness etc. He’s amazing, and his work will live on forever.

Go here to see his books on Amazon – including Manifesting Your Destiny, Real Magic, Excuses Begone, and a good one to begin with – the Power of Intention, Change the Way you Look at Things and the Things you Look at will Change. More here.

I had the amazing experience of being able to say hi to him and get a little video done when I was at QVC and he was selling Excuses Begone, a CD and book set, in autumn 2009. And saw him at I Can Do It in London in 2012 with Craigy and my son Brad. So glad I did. And even though Goody and I will now not see him on Oct 1st in London, I will have some very precious memories of one of life’s greats. RIP Wayne Dyer, 1940 – 2015.

Charlie Bears’ Will Commits to Help me Raise Funds for my Charity MDD

Sharon Harvay Hi Leigh, Welcome to Back To You Qvc, so lovely to have you join us for a live web chat. Many congratulations on your Wedding too!Tarte Cosmetics seem to have taken everyone by storm! What is it you love about the brand and why? Xx

Sara Mahmoud Hi leigh, I'm new to tarte I only have the last tsv and the collection of 3 lip glosses and i love every single item. Will we be getting another tsv before Christmas ? And will we get the new energy noire collection anytime soon? I can't wait to build up my tarte collection, they are fantastic products. Xx

Nia Timothy Hi Leigh, just got a question about the maracuja oil - will it do anything for oily skin with open pores? Thank you! Xx

Sharon Harvay Sara did you manage to see the shows these past few days? Some amazing items x

Sara Mahmoud I did Sharon Harvay there were some amazing products but I thought I'd wait for a next tsv. X

Aly Quick Hi Leigh. I am a Tarte addict! Amazing products. I have several of the Tarte eye shadow pallets. Can I dip a wet brush into the colours and use them as liner? Will it ruin them or will they dry back to powder. I did it with Bobbi Brown once and ruined my pallet. I don't want that to happen to my Tarte.

P's, you always look so amazing!

Debby Lisa Ross Hi Leigh, just wondering when will the 24 hour blusher with the brush be coming back into stock? I also have the Amazonian clay waterproof eyeliner and wondered how the Prismatic liner and Tartiest paint liner are different, Thanks, I love Tarte cosmetics xx

Deborah Platt I absolutely love Maracuja oil and find it fantastic for my oily but dehydrated skin! I also love the eye cream but it has disappeared from QVCUK, is it returning please? Also, when are we getting Tarteguard please (I have had a sample and it is perfect as a moisturiser)? I love Tarte products!

Dawn Robinson What Tarte products did you use on your wedding day ? You looked flawless xx

Leigh Griffin Hi Sharon! Thank for for the sweet wedding wishes! I have been with the Tarte brand for 7 years working closely with our founder Maureen on developing the products we all love so much. I love our brand because we are conscious of the ingredients and do not use which is hugely important to me because I have very sensitive skin. Our products are not only good for you, but they're incredibly high performance. I love that I can put my makeup on in the morning and not have to touch it up at all throughout the day.

Leigh Griffin Hi Sara! We do have another TSV coming in October and we are working on bringing the energy noir palette to the UK! Hopefully in time for holiday!

Leigh Griffin Hi Nia! The maracuja oil is really amazing for all skin types. It balances oil production while hydrating so you'll actually find that you breakout less!! It will really change your skin in a way you've never seen before!

Leigh Griffin Hi Aly! You can absolutely use our shadows as liners! It's one of my favorite things to do with my makeup!!  It won't ruin them!

Cherish Thomas more foundation shades please.

Leigh Griffin Hi Debby!! The blushes will be back in stock for our October visit! The tarteist liner is a thinner, more liquid formula and the prismatic liner is a cream! Both have excellent wear time!xx

Leigh Griffin Hi Dawn!! I'm soo happy to hear that!!!  you!

Debbie Flint Have a fab chat Leigh! Lovely to see u at the awards! You looked amazing! Xx

Leigh Griffin Hi Claire!! Yes!!! We have so many amazing sets coming up for holiday! Lots of values and new shades!! You can basically do all holiday shopping for the ladies on your list!!! Xx

Cherish Thomas Thank you. What a beautiful couple you make, had a sneeky look at your pics lol. Congrats!

Sharon Harvay Leigh you mention that the Cheek Tint was the first item created within the brand, did Maureen ever imagine Tarte would take off the way that it has? X

Deborah Platt Think you may have missed my questions Leigh, 5th from the start?

Sharon Harvay Please may i respectfully reminded all group members and participants not to friend request our Qvc Guests personal Facebook page( unless otherwise permitted ) These pages have either been set up to participate in the Monday evening live chats, or to Tag them into a post and may not be hosted or are personal, private, family accounts. You are welcome to Like and follow their company or Qvc pages, thank you x

Lorri Vick My Miracles of the Amazon set is being delivered tomorrow - happy happy! xx

Cherish Thomas i have tried foundation over the years but never liked the feel of it on my skin so rarely used the ones i invested in. However, i have now found a foundation (unfortunately not quite

Sharon Harvay what are your favourite Tarte products ladies?

Helen Flook Alll of it!!!!

Lorri Vick Liquid foundations, the prime stick and...............maracuja! xx

Leigh Griffin Hi Deborah! I am SO sorry!! The eye cream will be back!! Hopefully for the October visit! I completely agree re: the maracuja oil! We aren't planning to bring tarteguard until next spring unfortunately!  Xx, Leigh

Leigh Griffin Hi Sharon! Maureen's vision has always been to bring the best of high-performance naturals to women. She started the brand out of her one bedroom apartment in New York City with the cheekstain! She is thrilled that tartelettes all across the world are joining her mission to prove that glamour can be good for!

Deborah Platt And kind to animals Leigh, which is so important to me!

Sharon Harvay Isnt that just amazing!! How did she discover the amazing clay?

Deborah Platt Does Tarte plan to bring out more skincare to compliment the maracuja products?

Sharon Harvay Any hints on new product we can look forward to? x

Sharon Harvay it seems Leigh is having some connection issues, if you could make your perfect Tarte TSV, what would it be and why?

Yvonne Corser Next tsv?

Sharon Harvay October x

Deborah Platt Some skincare products, including maracuja oil would be lovely!

Good evening Bodyblade Ohana! Just one week from now, I will be in London and on QVC hopfully with some of you!! Tonight, I wanted to talk about plateau. What is it? Do you feel as though you are reaching a plateau and if so, what can we do about it. If you are doing great with your workouts, feeling the difference and noticing improvement in your looks and how you feel, please share with the group. I'll be back at 8 O'clock!

Anne Keating Hi Bruce. How are you? You couldn't have asked a better question than do we think we've reached a plateau! This past fortnight I seem to have lost all my get up and go! And over the weekend I was picking up the Bpdyblade and putting it down without even using it. Not like me at all! Yesterday was better but do you feel that way ever? And should I just leave it or work through it? Although saying that, I really couldn't have. xx

Bruce Hymanson For a body builder, it may mean that no matter how hard they try, they can't get past a certain weight they are lifting. Not the case for us but we could reach a different plateau

Like · Reply · 1 · Yesterday at 20:07

Bruce Hymanson For us, as functional trainers, we can gain strength, endurance, muscle definition and a better performing body but after awhile, you get used to how well you feel and how good you look where is becomes the norm rather than something new and exciting

Bruce Hymanson Hi Sarah, yes, you can always vary your grip as you prefer. The lace grip is more often the easier grip for beginners but the top to bottom is a great grip. Actually more advanced!!

Bruce Hymanson So, sometimes, you just have to change things up a little. Modify the workout substituting one exercise for another or add squats or lunges or more trunk rotation. Even a little choreopgraphy (step back, step side, step forward, etc) to make it more interesting at times. Perhaps, do a new workout every day you train by visiting you tube and doing a different workout each day (3 x wk) for that week.

Bruce Hymanson Hi Jacqui, Have you looked at all the instructional videos and posts regarding the Hip & Thigh? Remember, strength has nothing to do with matching the rhythm of the blade. Well.....not entirely. You need to have strength but the most important factor is "speed". Quickness and coordination are vital to mastering the H&TS.

Sarah Price I think thats the BB secret for me, it doesnt feel like exercise and its only 6 minutes , if Im having a rough day I stop several times on every exercise if its a better day I fly through them , Ive learned to listen to my body

Like · Reply · 1 · Yesterday at 20:19

Bruce Hymanson That's great Anne! Any small change can make the difference. New scenery, one new exercise, changing the order are all variables that can work for us. I always try to do more inside the same minute. For example, If I am doing a chest press, I might try to rotate left, center, right as many times as possible in the one minute. Never compromise technique or safety but it is fun to challenge yourself

Bruce Hymanson Floor exercises can be challenging so do them slowly and in segments. You can sit and try the Chest Press on the floor. Then progress to the ab crunch position, side lying (bottom leg bent knee, hip on floor), then progress from there. The toughest will be the plank. You can try the plank and leave your hips on the floor. Gradually, try to raise them up. As I say, very challenging the plank

Chris Jopp I will be on the Costa Del Sol from next Saturday for 2 weeks so won't be around for your next visit Bruce Hymanson. I'm still toying with the idea of taking my blade (OH says not to!) but not sure whether I will do it as we'll be walking and swimming a lot.I'm sure I'll be able to get back in the swing of it when I get home.

Gretel Parrish Hi Bruce, I have been using the BB for about 9/10 weeks and can't believe that after having such bad upper strength that I can now do the plank and all fours it has shocked me that I have come so far!......I am still struggling with the hip and thigh though even after watching all the videos, I know I tense up too much but won't let it beat me!

Bruce Hymanson Hi Julie, welcome to our family. Best way to relax is to shrug your shoulders to know what tension is, then let them go. See and feel the difference. You can also watch in the mirror if that helps you to relax. It's something that you will adapt to and find yourself relaxing more. Watch the LEARN section of the DVD for more about the common driving errors.

Debbie Flint Hi all! Fab chats as usual! Remember next week, Bruce himself kicks off the new September series of chats on main Qpage - chat there with him at 7-8 then he joins us on back to you group 8-9, for one week only. How about that! He is a star! X

This week was great for pushing back the barriers, and a cool first!

TTFLS 2.0 book on QVC site

Hoorah! My semi autobiographical weight loss book is up and available from - item 704285 (click here) - but by Wednesday this week over a quarter of the initial stock had already been allocated to waitlist orders. It's due on air 26th Jan, but do feel free to buy it sooner than that if you'd like to see the results.

The difference between this and the eBook/paperback that's on Amazon (Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 - the 'When' Diet, 2014) is that it's got the extra bonus material including a chapter covering the personal story during the time I was away from QVC plus it's signed, it's hardback and it's a limited production of under 3000. Ever. If more are ordered they'll take months plus they won't be exactly the same as this one.

See the first chapter if you're not sure by going here - 'look inside' free sample of first part of book on Amazon.

Hope you like it - do let me know! Basically all the info about it is on my TTFLS tab, see above, if you'd like to find out more.

So what a lovely proud 'first' for me this week - very proud Debbie! Now I've just got to quash my anxiety about taking it to air - nervous! hehe!

Back to You with Bruce

It was lovely to see Bruce from Bodyblade again this week (IN PIC ABOVE WITH ME) - we went for supper and he did the webchat, then took pole position on this week's Back to You show on Monday (9pm). More info and pics are on this week's QVC blog - see QVC tab above for Friday's (16th) blog.

if you missed the whole hour on QVC, you can watch it again on the link below. Be warned though, 'cos it's recorded a little fast for some reason - my voice sounds like it used to when I was younger! haha!

Back to you Show for those who missed it - Monday 12th 9pm - click here.

Bruce is due to answer a few more questions from our webchat and when they're ready I will put the transcript of the Q&A below.

And as promised, click here for a new Super6 routine which incorporates extra variety within each movement!

Next week the webchat will be with a familiar face! The week after, Pilates' Marjolein will be dong her Q&A plus the Camouflage Company girls return.

And on Back to You show on 19th we will have a one minute challenge on the urban rebounder - and if you have your bodyblade by then you can use that!

A secret about me that not a lot of people know.

Interesting feeling reared its head again this week when I was due to go to the Alpha H party (full report on this Friday's (16th) QVC blog - see QVC tab above.) See as a TV presenter, it's easy to put on the mantle of a confident gregarious person who can cope with almost anything, and I do, and it's real. BUT left to my own devices, when I'm back at home on a day off, faced with the thought of going out, how easy is it not to bother, and to actually let shyness overtake you? My closest friends know how true this is - you ask Craig Rowe. We joke that if you crossed him and me you'd have a person somewhere in the middle! Craigy is admirable and talks to anyone, he's so friendly. BUT maybe because I was very much brought up amongst family rather than having to kep meeting new people all the time, or perhaps 'cos I'm just weird, I don't find it easy to start a conversation in a room full of people I don't know. When I'm not working. In the past I've even missed weddings when I was feeling particularly crippled by the fear of getting out there - I call it 'go-have-fun-o'phobia'! Are you the same? if so you may find the Monday Essay below interesting. Some great books out there, certainly, which will help. BUT all the while i'm supposed to be meeting a man, I'm a bit stuck for ... meeting anyone new, aren't I?! Any tips? lol. I'll just have to make it a 'thing' this year - to get more confident in social situations with new men... I mean new people, won't I?!

(Monday Essay is at bottom of blog below.)

Other News -

- Aids to Cutting Back on Sugar - just in case you missed it - go here, it makes such a difference to your health and to your dieting.

- BBC Horizon Dieting series - an analysis on what's the best diet for you - worth a watch. And if you still find it hard, don't forget TTFLS goes along with any traditional diet plan if you feel a wobble coming on! More about the BBC show here.

Have a great week!

One of Wayne Dyer's colleagues has a brilliant book - Susan Jeffries' Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. It's a classic and has been around for many years. Go read the 'look inside' for free on the link above, adn order it if you think it's just up your cul de sac.

Over 300 five star reviews, it's almost always within the top 1000 of the UK Kindle chart which means it's always steadily selling since the wisdom never goes away and there's always someone new. Like this lady -

"I had heard of this book often enough, but never read it. As they say when the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear. If you are really struggling with your life this book will give you heart, if you have been working on yourself it will remind you of all that you have learnt and prompt you to keep it up. So what is it all about? Firstly, it points out that everybody gets fearful, but that some people rise to the challenges they face more positively than others and so succeed in their lives, while others just seem to shrink, becoming more and more overwhelmed by everything. This book shows you how to turn your thoughts around to the positive, to switch off your inner nag and just get on with life. It isn't corny, it isn't gimmicky, but it is truly uplifting and calming, and it works. Last night my dishwasher broke and rather than get into a stew about finding the time to get it repaired and the expense etc as I would have done I just remembered ' I'll handle it' and got it sorted. This is a fairly trivial example, but those of us who are prone to worry and anxiety, are easily overwound by the most mundane things, so it is so good to have some tools to get life into the right perspective."

I like that, don't you? It ties in with the recent Book of the Week on my RiWiSi writing blog, called 'The Chimp Paradox.' If you missed it check out the archive, it's certainly worth a read too, to help cope with the inner nag.

And see if this year you can push back some barriers, do some TiFFT's * and start the journey to making the changes you know you should make for 2015.
