Oh what a fabulous day I had with some of my QVC mates when we went to observe the work of the talented MDD dogs in Milton Keynes, and had a trip to the Airkix indoor skydiving venue afterwards, plus of course lunch before and coffee after. It’s all on my latest QVC blog, where you can also enter the bumper beauty bundle competition, just by leaving a comment there – do enter! And see the pics and the videos of the lovely doggies. If you missed previous newsletters, firstly welcome and secondly they made me an ambassador to help raise funds. For freezers.

RESEARCH. Do you know where we can get industrial freezers (to keep urine samples in, provided by local hospitals, to train the dogs to pick out prostate cancer) for the comprehensive trials they are embarking upon as well as research into ovarian and breast cancers. It has to be minus 80 in order to keep the studies robust.

Go here to find out more in this week’s QVC blog.

There you’ll also find some fab sneaky peeks of the week ahead’s bargains and a funny OPI blooper.

Also – STOP PRESS – if you can watch QVC today at 9am, 1pm or 4pm you will see a super instantly-dry new LED nail set called red carpet ready, where you just paint them as normal and dry them under the lamp (you may already have one) and off you go. They are super quick and easy to fill in patched too. More here.

DEVON. This week you know it got suddenly rainy? Yeh, that’ll be because I decided to come to my mate Alix’s in Okehampton. It was lovely and sunny, and by the time I arrived it … wasn’t. Well it didn’t matter so much as I am here to write. I have managed to create a brand new beginning for my French or Dutch saga, and have really cracked the block I had and now I know why. So fingers crossed I’ll carry on now and finish it soon. Then I can get it out there!

PUBLISHER. Something I didn’t report in my QVC blog was that I also met with my publisher, Choc Lit Lovely Lyn Vernham the CEO met me for another fab catch up at lunch in a super venue near Camberley. It seems that my first steamy novel with them, ‘Take a Chance on Me’ will definitely be stocked by WHSmiths travel outlets (stations and airports) possibly by Christmas. Will keep you informed. It’ll be that moment – the one where a proud author can get a ‘shelfie’ – can’t wait.

GET HEALTHY. So many fab comments from facebookers last week too – some of which I’ve mentioned including on my own website blogs – like one lady who said she even changed the duvets more easily thanks to stronger arm muscles and core from bodyblading, and another who went to her slimming club after her hols, ‘lighter living’ or something, and all of the regulars there had put weight on since they first started a couple of years ago. Except her, and she said Till the Fat Lady Slims was to thank for losing ten pounds. Yay.

JUICE CHALLENGE THIS WEEK. Of course you’ll know I used Jason Vale’s Retro juicer which we did recently on QVC to get a bit more vegetable juice into my life? Well this week is his Juicemaster Challenge . Go to my Back to You blog to also see fab video tips on how to clean his Retro, what to do when you first get it, and links to his free movie showing what happened to some poorly people when they went to his retreat for 28 days. It’s quite astonishing what good nutrition can do to turn around health issues. Do go watch it – the link is here. I’m continuing with it and loving having freshly cold-pressed combinations especially for breakfast. If you give it a go don’t forget to keep me informed!

Plus latest news – just in time to include the brand new Back to You webchats on Monday (yesterday) – incl Lee hohbein with some typical computer problems etc; a new brand focus on Stop and Wow, plus Bruce Bodyblade – he’s back Tues and Wed by the way – see blog to read more about all these.

READING SETH PATRICK. OMG I love this guy’s books. ‘Reviver’ was a book of the year for me two years ago, and this year he released the sequel, called ‘Lost Souls.’ It’ll be the next book of the week, but you can check it out on Amazon meanwhile – it’s truly brilliant and apparently the creators of Interstellar have the movie rights already! Go Seth! Also Samantha Shannon’s sequel to Bone Season was my Book of the Week this week. Go here to read about Mime Order – another alternative world scenario. Loved it.  – I listen to the stories on audible usually and on my long journeys it makes such a difference.

Well here’s the usual little exclusive for you – a video no one else has seen yet – and it’s little Luna once again – love that dog. From when she came for a sleepover. Thank god for crates!

Have a lovely week. More from Devon plus looking after the Nieces soon! Don’t forget to watch QVC tomorrow / today (tues) for clever Red Carpet manicure tips.

Best wishes

Videos to go with Jason Vale’s juicer, plus abandoned webchats – we crashed Facebook!

Ok, Facebook crashed, it wasn’t just us. But true enough, right after the 7-8pm Skechers one on the main QVC page (more of that below) the whole of Facebook went down for an hour and a half or so. Mothers were reporting on twitter that their teenagers were actually coming out of their rooms, other halves were saying they were actually talking for a change (!) and our two webchats with Bodyblade Bruce and with Nikki from Lola Rose were abruptly halted. But like a trooper, both Nikki, Bruce - and Rich - went back on over the next day or so to finish their replies. Thanks to all! Find their Q&As below.

Jason the Juicemaster says… Of course on Sunday it was the long-awaited airing of Jason Vale’s Retro cold-press slow Juicer (with book and DVD – still on QVC.) I love doing juicing now, I must admit, it’s the best thing for my appetite most mornings. For those who missed it, it’s the masticating one which will do wheatgrass, will also cope with ice, nuts (creating almond milk and paste), make banana sorbets out of frozen fruits and take most fruits whole and with skin on. The pulp is really dry and to avoid waste you can add it to muffins, smoothies, sauces soups and stews, and even make a face pack out of it.

Go here to watch the whole 18 minute airing on QVC on Sunday of Retro Juicer with Jason Vale and me.

Now I said on air that I’d been using his juices to experiment with the effect of juicing on my body and in fact it’s made me lose a few more pounds, but I think the best way to get your head around kick starting it is to say to yourself it’s a way of getting gradually off sugar. OR if you just hate vegetables and know you need to consume more of their goodness (assuming you will get your insoluble fibre elsewhere in your diet as most people do. Pectin from apples is a soluble fibre which is very good in the body – google it.) OR to reduce your portion sizes, since the powerful nutrition within the juice blends, I found, actually made my body do a happy dance, which meant satiety – something that many of us strive for. I do especially, with Freedom Eating (see below.) I ate mostly vegetables, and as Jason says, he will opt to eat fruit but juice with vegetables mainly, adding a bit of fruit for palatability (is that a word?) So I will continue to choose to juice and I really like his juicer, I find it ever so easy to use and clean afterwards.

Watch my short clip of how to clean the Retro juicer and reassemble.

So where will you begin , if you’ve bought one, or if you’ve got his 5:2 book and/or if you are going to replace your breakfast or whatever with juice daily for five days as part of his annual Juice Challenge 5th-9th October?

Watch Jason tell you what to do when you first get your juicer and start juicing.

Go here for more info about the five day challenge.

Also do go check on Youtube for some brilliant suggestions on what to do with all the pulp if you don’t like the idea of wasting it – like this one - how to make veggie burgers from juice pulp

Finally there’s the most awesome film he’s made that’s over an hour long, which anyone who hasn’t yet thought about juicing to help their health should watch. For free, on youtube, or it comes with the matching book with QVC’s offer. But if you can watch it on Youtube please do.

Go here to watch ‘SuperJuice Me’ on youtube – four weeks, eight people and a whole load of dramatic health changes.

Richard from Skechers was the last of my September webchats at 7pm on Qpage – go here to read it and find out more about this weekend’s Fashion Day.

Then we also welcomed lovely Nikki from Lola Rose jewellery and Bruce from Bodyblade but their chats will be posted once they get the chance to finish their comments due to the outage as above.

Next week – it’s going to be Darryn from relatively new brand Stop and Wow and also my lovely telly-hubby Lee Hohbein who will fill you in on all the hi-tech answers you need! 8pm Monday on Back to You QVC group.
