Q Where did it come from?

A. Transformation During the first Back to You series, many people found the 2002 book on Amazon and began using it and reporting how it was changing their bodies. Lots of lovely members of my Facebook group ‘Back to You QVC’ were losing weight and transforming their relationship around food and posting their updates. For me it was gripping - Debbie S. has gone from a size 20 to a 14. And Chloe H my other cover girl has now lost five stone! Plus so many, many more, a selection of which are featured on my TTFLS page on my website. And below.

Original The 2002 version was first written when I lost 35lb after following the Freedom Eating principles 14 years ago and I haven’t binged since. And if you want to compare notes, OMG just have a look at the ‘binge management’ section towards the back – see what I used to go through – are you the same? Plus so many other common mistakes people make on their dieting journeys. And we’ve all done them.

The most common reaction I get is ‘it was like reading about myself… so good to see I’m not the only one.’

Q. What is Freedom Eating?

A. It’s based on the secrets of slim people and how your body knows what to do, we just override our key signals. This system helps you identify how to get back to your own natural relationship with food as fuel – not as reward, or solace or revenge. And helps you reclaim your own natural birthright to be slim. It’s just common sense, but it’s my take on an old theme, and it’s my own journey that makes this one different. It’s based on a version of the 7 Secrets of Slim People which was itself based on Diets Don’t Work which itself was no doubt based on something else. Since 2000 many other books have come out with other versions of this same common sense and I’m not sure why my one resonates with so many people, but it does. They say this is the one that’s made all the difference.

Freedom. It’s so liberating. Whenever I do full Freedom Eating, I find it so easy, not hard at all, and it’s like food becomes LESS important in my life every day instead of ruling my every thought and living from meal to meal. Others agree – eg on our Facebook group. It’s never ceased to amaze me what I learned about how slim people do it and loved putting it in writing all those years ago.

New Version But more than a decade later there is a lot of new info that needed to go in, so I issued an updated version in September last year, including crucial new material, as well as a slightly abridged version of the original. Version 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet was born! I put it online with its purple cover and it started to inspire people so much that QVC asked me to do a version just for us!

Q. How is it new?

A. The new aqua one is a limited collector’s edition with a bonus chapter inside, not seen elsewhere yet, about my own personal story, in the years I was away from QVC. Plus further links to more exclusive material over on my website! It’s in hardback, as it’s designed to be a reference book, read over and over again.

Groundbreaking The principles are so ground-breaking for some lifelong dieters that they say stuff like this -

After trying so many diets over a few decades now finally found an eating regime that works. Till the fat lady slim book by Debbie Flint has made me look at eating in a whole new light. No longer have good and bad things to eat just what my body tells me I need. …changing my eating habits forever. Please, please if you are struggling at the time of reading this, give it a go.” Starlight, QVCuk.com review

If you're fed up of silly diets and yo-yo dieting then this book is for you! I'm featured in the book as through freedom eating I have managed to lose four stone! With this book you can develop a positive and healthy relationship with food. Learn about your body's signals of satiety and hunger.
Lose weight and keep it off”
Chloe, Amazon review, July 2013

I have lost about 4 pounds over the Xmas period. Losing the weight is not as important for me as not being at war with myself about food. Thanks to Debbie for sharing this. It is absolutely life changing as I know it has changed how I think about myself and food forever.” Laura S, Amazon Jan ‘15

I watched the BBC2 Horizon programme at 3.30 ish this morning - they would have found TTFLS fitted in with all three categories of eating problems! I'm the last group - constant craving for food. But I'm looking at food differently now thanks to the book. Best thing I've ever bought - oh, and the Bodyblade.” Anne, Facebook.

Lard These and many more similar testimonials echo how I felt back in the day when I first read about Freedom Eating and began bringing pats of lard into the studio on a tray representing how many pounds I was losing – ultimately two and a half stone. The pic on the book shows a couple of pics from back then – anyone remember those days on QVC?

Chuffed Can’t tell you how delighted it’s making me, to know that so many people are breaking out of ‘food prison’ ‘cos of my writing. The steamy novels went down a storm and that was lovely, but this is a different type of chuffed entirely! Knowing so many people are using it to make their diets easier makes me so proud.

Be prepared to dip into it continually as you gradually adjust whilst your body gets used to listening to its signals and eating like a slim person does.

With over 170 pages of testimonials old and new, it still includes the full, slightly-abridged original TTFLS book from 2002 remember – that’s in part three. But parts one and two are crucial to understand why this system works and how it’s NOT a diet plan.

What it’s not. If you’re not prepared to let go of old beliefs this book is not for you. Or if you follow a rigid structure easily, maybe you’re one of the lucky people who go on a diet and stick to it no problem, lose the weight and don’t see what all the fuss is about, then this system is probably not for you.

-          It does NOT tell you what to eat and what not to eat, it’s not a meal-plan

-          It is NOT a short term system, it’s a long-term approach which will make everything different from now on, and if you can do full Freedom Eating your body takes back its natural power which has been over-ridden by bad habits around food.

-          It is NOT some weird kooky system, it’s just how slim people eat their whole lives.

What it is It is, however, for anyone who CAN’T DIET. Who has the BEST intentions and really means to stick to the next brand new shiny diet plan or slimming club regime BUT deep down – below all the best laid plans that this time it will be different – knows they won’t. Or likes a plan but drops off it after a while, this can help you too.

Q. What’s in it?

A. Contents

Part One explains the basics about Freedom Eating – and changing your whole mindset about dieting. It helps break free from that horrible place we’ve all been to, if we’ve experienced ‘food prison.’ For instance, within the first chapter I’ve put my ‘Super Six’ principles, so you can look at the free sample - go here on my website, debbieflint.com, where people can see the link to the free sample so you can see what it’s all about if you’re in any doubt about whether to buy it. I’d hate for anyone to take a copy if it’s not for them, as someone else may miss out. So do go look if you’re not sure. If you do decide to get it though, be quick since, as I’ve said, this QVC version is limited!

Part Two has some crucial information which cannot be ignored if you want to get it right - an important chapter that explains why the latest knowledge about certain foods really helps. It makes it easier for me, when I watch all the video links and read all the articles to choose correctly, as it helps me make those decisions more easily. And advice about what to do first on your way to full Freedom Eating. Full freedom eating is where nothing is banned. If being told  you can’t have something means you can’t stop thinking about it, this book is for you. The reason is, if you’re like me, the opposite is also true and knowing you ‘can’ means you eat it less. The psychology is fascinating. And this book features a long list of misapprehensions that need to be unlearned, and helps you unlearn them.

The ‘When’ Diet For some who like structure though, like my sister Linda, pictured above helping me at the signing, it’s a different story. She uses it for maintenance and to help stay on traditional diets. She’s an ex-slimming club leader and saw how Freedom eating helped transform my behaviour around food. She and I then co-created The ‘When’ Diet section – designed to help put a stop to those ‘start again tomorrow’ moments and make normal dieting a bit more closely aligned with how your body is supposed to act around food.

If you DO want to use it alongside traditional diets, that works too, it’s what the ‘When’ Diet section is for.

-          This book will hold your hand

-          This book will provide answers when you feel desperately low about your weight

-          This new mindset will offer freedom like many have never known, from the constant curse of dieting.

Q. What support is there?

A. Stories from others & Facebook I can’t tell you what a thrill it has been to hear from so many people, like all the Freedom Eating converts from my lovely Facebook group, ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims’ and those who have kindly put their reviews on item 704285. The main thing is that it’s helping so many now – and of course there are far more stories on my website here – click here to see the TTFLS page .

Anyway, at time of writing, my shoulder is just a little bit hot right now, after all that signing. Only a few had a slightly more squirly signature, and they’ve got the word ‘enjoy’ on. Some have a few extra kisses. And one special one was the final one I signed which has an extra little message in the front as it was number 3000 out of 3000!

Make 2015 the year you do things completely differently than ever before – starting with considering this book – ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet’  from QVC, or from Amazon if it’s sold out – as the game-changer.

I’m very proud to be bringing you this book – the end result of more than fourteen years of writing, learning and losing weight. I’m told unlike anything people might have seen before.

updated April 2016

As I write in my book Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – The ‘When’ Diet, it’s vital to wean yourself off sugar.

Sugar is listed as being linked with all manner of health issues, and crucially it prevents you trusting the signals of your body. It will say ‘give me sugar’ instead of ‘now I want protein/ green veg/ fish’ and will keep you being controlled by the sugar demon in your veins.

These links are here for you to keep dipping into, whenever you feel the need. Now, maybe? If you're reading this for the first time, watch this summary of the

CNN Sixty Minutes reports from Sanjay Gupta, the famous 'most trusted guy in America', summarising WHY SUGAR RUINS YOUR HEALTH then see below for more.

One of the latest and one of the best is from RTE, featuring Professor Robert Lustig and also Damon Gameau from 'That Sugar Film'' - is on this link - especially if you buy 'low fat' food but can't understand why your weight loss has plateaued. click here to watch SUGAR CRASH and it's mentioned in a Back to you blog here.

And one of the latest youtube chats from the godfather of the anti-sugar movement, Prof Robert Lustig, Sugar pandemic , here.

All calories are NOT equal.

I began my sugar free journey by slowly giving up sugar in coffee and tea, eg a quarter of a teaspoon less each week over four weeks, giving up ‘treats’ which now seemed like insidious tricks to keep me trapped and to keep my insulin levels too high to shed fat. The next four weeks I then cut down on any sugar as an added ingredient. Within that time I lost a stone.

Hope this all helps. It’s hard, especially at first, but not impossible.

How to tell that you definitely need to cut back

-          You find yourself reaching for a dessert or sugary sweet treat regularly through the day

-          You feel you ‘have’ to end each meal with sugar

-          You tell yourself you ‘can’t’ give up sugar in coffee – ‘can’t’ means you need to

-          You KNOW you are not hungry but your thoughts go to sugar and you find yourself restless till you get some.

-          You have energy peaks then feel exhausted and rely on sweets etc as a pick-me-up.

-          You indulge at Xmas and still in early January you crave sugar again regularly

-          You can’t stop once you’ve started. It’s still not enough. It’s never enough.

You’re not ‘bad.’  It’s ok, you know, once you’ve read the below you’ll begin to understand why it’s not simply about willpower. You’re in the grip of an addiction, caused by ever more sugar in our food.

It’s been happening since the early 1900’s, and consumption exploded after WWII rationing ended. In 1982 a big mistake happened. A massive error in how they read the studies back then meant that instead of demonising sugar AND fat, it was just fat. It should have been ‘eat low sugar and eat low fat’ in order to cut health problems and encourage weight loss. Instead, sugar escaped through the net.  Food giants strove to make lower fat foods taste more palatable so piled in the sugar. Worse, a fruit sugar, fructose, began being used in a pure form. High Fructose Corn Syrup was cheap and helped keep down sugar prices. More than that it was even sweeter than ordinary table sugar, (which is half glucose and half fructose.) This is bad, because pure fructose should not be consumed without the ‘antidote,’ the fibre in the rest of the fruit. It does bad things in the only place it can be metabolised, the liver. Glucose on the other hand, can be used up in every part of the body, but we don’t need added sugar/glucose, because our body can make it from all normal foods including vegetables and complex carbs.

Starting in the liver, a third of all calories we eat as fructose are converted straight back into fat, no matter what exercise we do, no matter what deficit we create in calories and no matter how high our metabolism. (from ‘Sugar the Bitter Truth’ university lecture, see below.) Scary, right? Fructose by-passes the usual appetite-satisfying signals in the body (leptin, grehlin) and leaves us unsatiated. Fructose in the brain acts like cocaine – rats eating both were seven times more attracted to the sugar than to the cocaine. So don’t be a rat.

DON'T BE A RAT.

Simple carbohydrates (white bread, rice, potatoes, crisps, chips) are also bad but for a different reason – they keep insulin high which prevents the body going into fat burning mode.

There’s a ton of info below. DO please dip into it and make yourself aware of what’s controlling you. Get free of it, drink enough water so you’re not dehydrated, and use my Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 (TTFLS) book to help break free from food prison.

The habits of a lifetime can be changed, and it starts right here. it's as easy as watching the videos below.

if you have kids around you with bad bad teeth who drink juice, get their parents to watch this.
If you have overweight people around you who 'can't give up sugar' get them to watch this.
If you think it's normal to have sweet stuff after every meal, watch this.
If you still think low fat is the way to go, watch this.
If you drink hot drinks with ever more sugar, watch this.

Happy New wotsit and hope your determination has kicked in! My QVC Show Back to You kicked off with a flying start – well more of a walking one actually! Lesley Sansone’s walking DVD’s were the key hot pick and the new One Minute Challenge was on the Leg Master, (click here, as of 7th Jan the video on this link is the one minute challenge on the leg master! ) – it’s back at last, cheaper! And in purple.

As mentioned, the amazing Bodyblade is also back in stock and on next week’s show Bruce from Bodyblade will be back again taking pole position on my 9pm Monday show (12th). Can’t wait! Meanwhile here’s the link to –

-          the famous ‘beach Super6 video’ in Marina Del Ray, LA. Click here God that was a lovely day!

Plus my own big news is that later in the month it’s the long awaited arrival of my signed hardback limited special edition Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet, will go on sale on QVC. Hoorah! There will be more bonus material and special links taking you through to additional content on a secret part of this site. I share the things that happened to me in the interim years, that aren’t listed elsewhere. And of course all the hints and tips that make this ‘natural eating’ method so successful for so many, and make being around food so much easier to do.

Did you see the show? If so do email me or let me know on facebook/twitter (contact links are below.) If you didn’t, the link to watch the complete hour all over again is coming soon – check back here.

Now I have to admit to having had one too many mince pies too, over Christmas. I think sugar got a bit of a hold again. But if I can get back to Freedom Eating fully again, showing it's a journey full of ups and downs, so don't be scared of the downs, I know it'll work again.

Apart from some of my lovely Freedom Eating ladies and gents of course! Some of the stories about people not gaining any or much weight and feeling much more free over Xmas were heart-warming. Join that group too if you’d like to really get your weight sorted once and for all (links below for TTFLs as well as Bodyblade and back to you groups). As we say on the group – nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels.

The webchat this Monday just gone featured Ruth from Perfect Formula and lovely Tom from Alpha H, fresh from their recent Today’s Special Values on QVC – the transcripts are below if you missed them. Next week it’s Bruce! It’s always 8-9pm Mondays, join the ‘Back to You QVC’ group now in time to participate. Others being lined up include Marjolein from Pilates Reformer fame and Judith Williams’ team as well as an extra webchat on Thursday 15th with Christianne Wolff whose brilliant Body Rescue plan was what Catherine Huntley so diligently stuck to for her superb transformation. It’s a sensible regime, not allowed anything bad and lots of exercise and well worth a look. BUT you have to do it to make it work of course.

If you struggle with staying on diet plans longer than two weeks (or less) and resort to the ‘start again tomorrow’ philosophy, then don’t forget Freedom Eating principles almost entirely can be used alongside ANY other traditional diet plan like Body Rescue. Or like the other book QVC had on air this week, from

TTFLS Update

Lorraine Simpson on the Till the Fat Lady Slims group, posted this this week – it warmed my heart!

“I have managed to have a lovely Christmas and New Year with family and friends without putting any weight on. Debbie Flint asked me to post how this felt. Well, I found it much easier than I thought it was going to be and it was a lovely feeling to not feel podged after my Christmas dinner. I love mince pies, but if I felt one winking at me I asked myself did I really want one and usually the answer was no - so I didn't. I never thought that just reading a book would give me the encouragement I needed to not eat something just because it looked or smelled nice. It's shown me how to question myself as to "do I really need this". I also love chocolate and over the years I've tried to tell myself that I'm allergic to them to stop me from eating them. Do you know, I can count on one hand how many I've had over Christmas and New Year - 2. Normally if I've had a chocolate it's led to another and then another .... you know what it's like. This time, I had one on Christmas day and one on New Year's eve and didn't think twice about wanting another one. I knew I could have one if I wanted - I just didn't want. I think it's brilliant. Some years ago, my daughter managed to stop smoking after reading a book, which she eventually let her brother have and he also stopped. At the time I remember thinking how ridiculous it was that just by reading this book she had managed to stop doing something that she'd found difficult to do before, how can a book stop you doing that!!! Well, TTFLS has done the same for me with food. If I don't feel hungry at breakfast - I don't eat until I do. Unheard of at our house, we've always had 3 set meals, but my husband is now getting used to me eating at different times to him occasionally. It's also lovely to see my little grandsons freedom eating naturally as they've never been pressed to finish their plates and eat up. Long may this continue.” Lorraine Simpson, Till the Fat Lady Slims facebook group, 5th January 2015

There’s an information overload right now regarding New Year New you programmes. Stick with a programme and you know it will work – just look at Katie Hopkins on her TLc documentary about gaining weight then losing it again. Funny – some people asked whether she’d been reading my Till the Fat Lady Slims book! Anyway, that and the Davina info or the Christianne system seem sensible choices to me. And with Any and ALL of it, you can do Freedom Eating, as in TTFLs, alongside. Keep me informed how you get on! There’s a Monday update every week on here. Do let us know how you are doing on the facebook group too.

THE MONDAY ESSAY

CUT OUT THE SUGAR/ PERMAHABITS/ DAVINA ROCKS!

We talk often on Bodyblade QVC group and on Back to You QVC facebook group about ‘Permahabits.’ Well, here’s some food for thought – change is only change until is becomes the norm. Permahabits are the little things you do each day which make so much difference to your life. Have a think about what you do EVERY DAY that are complete MUSTS.

-          Brush teeth

-          Wash

-          Check facebook… lol

Well apparently they say it takes about four weeks for a new behaviour to become the norm and a new habit to be fixed. So here’s a suggestion for January. Make something happen that’s different to what you know, make something change and make it change every day. BUT make it something small.

Davina MacCall had a complete pull out in You Magazine at the weekend about giving up sugar and how you can cook differently to accommodate cutting down the white stuff. Lots of knowledge, and suggestions, and for some, that’s all they need. Well done Davina! More here about ‘Five Weeks to Sugar Free’.

BUT what about you? Could you adopt her suggestions, or that of the countless other January well being books , DVD’s and online articles, straight away? All this info is great, isn’t it? It’s not like we don’t ‘know what to do.’ How do you adapt when it’s time to tweak your daily habits? Swot up then just do it? Well if you can’t do it intellectually, you’re amongst the millions of people who know what to do BUT you just can’t ‘do what you know.’ Maybe you have to approach your inner Chimp a bit differently to gain a different end result. (See my previous blog about The Chimp Paradox – brilliant book! Click here.) In which case, try Till the Fat Lady Slims too. In it I discuss giving up sugar and the things that help me – namely watching the powerful videos which make me not want to eat sugar. Here they are –

-          Sugar the Bitter Truth – an hour and a half of a university lecture in 2004 by Professor Robert Lustig the anti-sugar campaigner who is changing the world one click at a time. I watched this FOUR times before I ate no sugar at all for a month, and lost a stone. So worth while. If getting the info affects your physiology when you think about eating certain things, then go for it. And keep watching more till you find it easier to leave the dangerous white stuff alone. The video clip on youtube is here.

-          Toxic Sugar – ABC news report – gret for beginners - 18 mins long – click here

-          Is sugar Toxic (the Sixty Minute show) – 14 mins long – click here

-          Plus Watch out for Fed up! the US sensation, and ‘That Sugar Film’, by an Aussie reporter, and starring Steven Fry. (www.thatsugarfilm.com )

-          And if you have a brave stomach, watch this about FATTY LIVER, bleaurgh!

So all in all, get off the habits of choosing the sweeter stuff every day. For me it’s about NOT REACHING FOR SOMETHING SWEET AFTER EVERY MEAL. And the info above is what helps me do that. Hope it helps you too. Good luck!

BACK TO YOU LIVE WEBCHAT RUTH – PERFECT FORMULA 05/01/2015

Looking forward to chatting later tonight! Perfect Formula TSV was on 30th December and it sold out! So if you have any questions about nails / the range, please do ask and I will see you on here very soon! xxx

Jackie Springett My nails are terrible since going through the menopause I am in my 50's. They keep flaking the top layer peeling off all the time very frustrating. Have used perfect Formula and loved it especially in the various colours. Just been using once a week, then taking off and putting on again. Helped loads but they seem to be going through a bad patch again flaking badly. Any suggestions can I use 2 coats would that help or not. Or just to persist with the one cost weekly. Any help would be appreciated. Missed the new clouds in the tsv hope you will be doing them again thanks Jackie xx

Lynn Parry I have tried this previously but found it peeled off was I doing something wrong or are my nails too oily maybe? Also like Jackie menopausal and nails are very weak and always peel at the tips any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks x

Dawn Robinson Hello Ruth  Ive never tried this product but im going to treat myself & my question is if i use the Perfect Formlua how long can i leave it on before i should remove it ? xx P.s your hair is absolutely fabulous xx

Lorri Vick When i first tried Perfect formula i too had the same probs as those above and I gave up on it. Sometime later, I tried again and kept using it and hey presto gorgeous, strong, long nails - it is ALWAYS on my nails - I use the clear gel as my base when using other makes of polish . Is there any chance we could have the colours sold individually? xx

Amanda Marie Jayne Thomas How do you stop perfect formula from chipping. I don't know if I'm applying it wrong or my nails are too bad for it.

Lorri Vick I use Seche vite top coat - find it the best ever and dries in seconds. Very important to use the oil too xx

Deborah Ingram I absolutely love Perfect Formula and cannot ever be without it. I have very thin bendy nails with a small nail plate. They used to look awful if i grew them past the tips of my fingers as they bent under. With Perfect Formula i am able to grow them without them bending and they appear thicker and stronger. Since using the pink gel coat I have received lots of compliments and some people have asked if they are acrylics!

My question is, are there any plans to sell the colours seperatley? I'm not keen on the 'creamy' colours but would love the cherry and cerise.

Lorri Vick I have asked same question Deborah Ingram as I like the opposite colours to you - the paler ones - although liking the look of the new pink in the next drop of tsv. I dont want to be buying a whole tsv every time i need a new colour though x

Jackie Springett Yes would be ideal if sold them separately or in pairs x

Deborah Ingram I.agree Lorri Vick, i just couldnt justify the tsv just for the colour as i have a stash of the pink gel coat. Will keep an eye out for future sets and maybe we could do 'swaps' if they contain a colour we each want.

Lorri Vick Definitely up for swaps Deborah x

Amy Wall Used to have bendy peeling nails also but thanks to PF I'm so pleased with them now. Thank you so much xx

Amy Wall Been there to Jackie I'm in my sixties now. I use nail envy under the fab PF weekly and have recommended it to lots of friends. Stick at it xx

Lorri Vick I always use 2 coats if just using PF and the clear gel as a top coat Jackie Springett -one coat didnt do much for mine but now they look very similar to Amys as I shortened them at weekend xx

Jackie Springett Thanks was thinking maybe use more coats. Really want nice nails x

Tracy Clark I think I will try this soon. Ruth I have very weak nails due to iron deficiency. Would this just be a temporary fix or should I keep using to keep my nails in condition. Also is is quick to use as a carer I don't have a lot of time

X

h Frances Beer Good evening all! Right, lets start at the top and work through as I want to make sure I get back to all of you. Thanks for welcoming me in tonght, my first evening with you on Back to You QVC! Jackie Springett I would definitely recommend you DO use 2 coats, I always do and I have found that's best for me. I, like yourself, have peeling nails and PF has really helped to prevent the nail from beginning the peel at the tip. What I will suggest as well though, is a cuticle oil (like the Perfect Formula Daily Moisture, no longer available as an item on QVC UK but I will ask if the buyers would consider getting it back in) another oil that can nourish your cuticles and don't forget the ends of your nails, could help to stop the flaking at this time of year when the cold and central heating plays havoc with our nails and skin! x

Lynne Sneddon Hi Ruth Frances Beer, Is it possible for the daily moisture to be brought to QVC as either a single or duo pack please ?Lorri Vick Welcome Ruth Frances Beer  xx

Jackie Springett Thanks Ruth that was helpful and am using a cuticle oil just need to use more than once a day maybe. X

Ruth Frances Beer Lynn Parry, hello! Ok, so maybe try to put 2 coats of pink or clear gel coat on once per week, and when you are using your nail polish remover, make sure you wash it off well as some of them contain oils and moisturisers. It's possible you have oily nail beds if you are finding all nail products are peeling off? But good luck and I hope it works for you. x

Lorri Vick I use oil every day - over the nail and under xx

Chris Jopp Hi, got my TSV today. Have used PF before but didn't seem to have much success so trying it again. My nails are very flaky and bendy and have tried several other treatments from QVC. Will try and make sure that I give PF a better try this time. Loving the colours.

Tom Ogden Hello Ruth  Lovely to see you yesterday! Txx

Anna Kelley Hello  Ruth

Ruth Frances Beer Dawn Robinson, hi there. Great to hear you want to try PF! It's changed my nails and strengthened them so much! I hope you find the same. It's best if you remove Perfect Formula every week and then reapply. Make sure your nails are clean and dry and free from all acetone / remover. (PS thanks for your compliment, very kind of you :-)) x

Lynn Parry Hi Ruth yes all nail polishes peel off from tips after 1 day 2 maximum, should I not use oil then or should I use it sparingly? Many thanks xxChris Jopp The only time my nails looked good was when I was using my RCM kit but even then my nails peeled underneath  I had thought it was only 1 coat was needed of PF but will try Ruth Frances Beer's recommendation of two coats when I reapply at the end of the week.

Ruth Frances Beer Lorri Vick and Deborah Ingram THANK YOU ladies for your lovely comments about Perfect Formula, so glad you love the products. And great feedback for me to take back to PF and QVC about your wishes to see the colours available separately. I totally appreciate that you don't always want to buy the whole TSV to get the new colours - however the value is always so good you could always give your pink gel coat to friends to try (if you have a big stash :-)) - cheeky way to get more people to try PF I know, but I will feed back your suggestions and you may see me on your screens with individual colour gel coats! xx

Lorri Vick I am a qualified nail tech Chris Jopp although dont do nails anymore and after many years of acrylics, i switched to RCM but found it time consuming removing it - my nails were weakened by it too so i had my second try of PFand not looked back and lovely long nails with no enhancements - i always use two coats if just PF - if am using other makes i use clear as a base, then colour, then clear as a top coat or if i am in a hurry Seche vite as it literally dries it all in seconds and its a gel consistency too - hope this helps - I do use oil every day xx

Ruth Frances Beer Lynne Sneddon hello! I would love to get Daily Moisture back so leave it with me  x

Chris Jopp THanks Lorri Vick, good to know that. I will use RCM when I go on hols so I don't have to change the colour at the end of the week LOL but use PF the rest of the time. x

Lorri Vick Thanks Ruth Frances Beer - be amazing if you were able to sort individual colours or even duos  xx

Ruth Frances Beer Amanda Marie Jayne Thomas - sorry to hear you've found PF chips on your nails. A great top coat is a good idea Lorri Vick thank you, I would love to be able to sell you the PF top coat as it is phenomenal! However, it's not available on QVC UK (at the moment) but if you are finding your colours are chipping, perhaps do 2 thinner coats of the gel coat and then use the PF clear or pink gel coat over the top. Does that help? x

Lorri Vick Good idea Chris Jopp and you are welcome xx

Lynne Sneddon Thanks Ruth Frances Beer

Ruth Frances Beer Amy Wall Wooooooowwwweeeee! Look at your nails! They look fantastic! You could be one of my hand and nail models with those! Congratulations and thanks for sharing your pic xx

Dawn Robinson Thank you Ruth x

Amanda Marie Jayne Thomas Thank you Ruth Frances Beer Im going to have to give that a go

Sharon Harvey Hi Ruth, which QVC products aside from PF do you use regularly? It must be great working there

Jackie Springett Painted 2 coats of PF on just now feels stronger already there is a definite difference to the one coat xx

Helen Robinson My nails after using Perfect Formula!! I have used it for about 18mts now but saw vast improvement to my flakey splitting nails in a short lenght of time, love it!!xx

Debbie Flint hey all! Have fun! see you on air 9pm! grat line up for back to yo!

Ruth Frances Beer Tracy Clark hello! Ok, so Perfect Formula once dried is like a SUIT OF ARMOUR on your nails! It hardens, protects, seals, allows flexibility and ultimately strengthens. But it is a coating, so you need to use it going forward like I do - never go without! Its really easy and quick to apply - just like regular nail polish and it should last up to a week before you remove it with normal remover and reapply. So I just make sure that when I remove it, I always put on another 2 coats of my favourite gel coat (usually pink or one of the paler gel coat colours) and that's my routine. Hope this helps. You will love the look of your natural nails. As a carer, perhaps the clear or pink gel coat will be best for you at work? x

Ruth Frances Beer Hello Tom Ogden - was lovely to see you yesterday! Hope you are feeling rested today after your fab TSV! x

Ruth Frances Beer Hello Anna Kelley x

Ruth Frances Beer Lynn Parry - are you using your oil only after your PF has dried? x

Tom Ogden Thanks Ruth! I'm feeling chipper! We had such a great day yesterday! X

Michael James Hamlyn Hi Ruth! Not sure if you remember, but a while ago on one of your shows Julia Roberts read out my tweet about a matt or more male appropriate perfect formula... You said something along the lines it was being looked into... Any news on this?!

Many thanks xxx

Jill Dowding-Walker I was using PF since the middle of December and my nails were looking longer and stronger - until yesterday when I caught my finger in a metal zip which ripped off one nail - just one - right down to the quick! Drat!!! Back to the drawing board...

Ruth Frances Beer Helen Robinson wow your nails are faaaabbbbbbullloooouuus! haha Im making up new long words tonight! Thanks for sharing your pic! They look incredible x

Jackie Springett Do you put the oil on the after your PF has dried then. Sometimes put it in when nails are naked x

Ruth Frances Beer Michael James Hamlyn thanks for getting in touch! I will have to chase this up again too - nothing come to my attention as yet from Perfect Formula but you never know. Now Im on this great page I can report back to our lovely customers so much easier! xx

Lynn Parry Yes Ruth I am applying oil once my pf or nail treatments are dry. X

Ruth Frances Beer Oh Jill Dowding-Walker I feel your pain! It's so frustrating when an unavoidable nail incident undoes all your hard work and dedication  I hope PF can help your nail recover and stay strong (and grow quicker) good luck x

Jill Dowding-Walker Thanks Ruth - I shall persevere!!!

Michael James Hamlyn Thanks Ruth x Just a shame us blokes are missing out!

I still enjoy watching the shows though!

Welcome to the page

Ruth Frances Beer Jackie Springett if you use the oil on your natural nails, do this as a treatment when you are relaxing at home but then make sure your nails are clean and completely free of oil before you apply your Perfect Formula gel coats as anything on the nail will stop the adherence of the product which could lead to it peeling. The oils are ok to use over your PF yes x

Jackie Springett Thanks Ruth x

Tracy Clark Thankyou Ruth Frances Beer. I am a home carer though for my parents so as long as it's quick it is fine for me. Thankyou for your help x

Ruth Frances Beer Its so tempting Sharon Harvey to be around all those fabulous beauty products at QVC! I use Revitabrow and I swear by it! I've recently been using Bare MInerals too as the fabulous Sarah-Jane Froom did my make-up at QVC for me! And I love it! I also have some Liz Earle and for the kitchen - the Ninja! I really love Peony flowers too - beautiful in the bedroom and look so natural! x

Helen Robinson Thank you Ruth for the compliment! tho it was a rush job Lol, trying to photo nails on iPad one handed ain't easy. My nails are so strong now I always have to file them, rarely break but if the inevitable does happen I do howl then sulk!! Lol ️xx

Sharon Harvey I can imagine Ruth! Xx lots of lovely products xx

Ruth Frances Beer Oh Helen Robinson I am the same! It has only happened occasionally in the past thank goodness but now I always have my PF crystal nail file in my bag and some gel coat in case I need to try to rescue an accidental tear or break  x

Ruth Frances Beer Jill Dowding-Walker your nails look beautiful! And so natural. Such a shame about your accidental breakage  won't be long though, do you have a PF crystal nail file to keep your nails sealed? x

Back To You Live Chat Tom Ogden 5th Jan 2014

Amy Wall

Welcome Tom Ogden. After such an informative show the other night I can't think

of anything to ask but am waiting for my TSV to arrive and am confident with the

regime I should follow which is down to you're in depth instructions. Thank you

x

Victoria Rolph

Looking forward to receiving my tsv, little worried as I have eczema and

sensitive skin but am getting married in June and am 41 years old so no spring

chicken so needing lots of help  x

Sandra Harrington Kayne

I love alpha h products but have recently bought a tria, can I use liquid gold

as well as the tria? Thanks

Sue Poole

Eagerly waiting for my tsv to arrive. I decided to try the liquid gold while

waiting. My daughter had a bottle. I was very impressed at my skin even after

one go. My face felt so soft and clean. Not greasy . So very keen to get my

hands on tsv. I also ordered the 500ml balance cleaner, so will have plenty

thank you for advice x

Tanya Tremelling

Hi. I have melasma on my cheeks from pregnancy with twins 9 years (eek) ago. I

have been using liquid gold which has improved it, but is there anything else in

the range I can use to target this? Ordered yesterdays tsv & can't wait to

receive it. Thank you.

Maureen Blake

Can you use liquid gold on eye lids and up to lash line pse ordered TSV not sure

if eye complex only was to be used this way ?? Thanks Tom x

Nicky Adams

Hi Tom Ogden I keep getting spots jut below the temple area on my face,I cleanse

once in the morning and twice at night,i moisturise day and night and exfoliate

and mask twice a week, was just wondering could you recommend anything

please?many thanks x

Karen Austin

Hi tom can you recommend anything for lines above the lip? X

Lynne Brydon-Graham

Hi Tom , I swim at least 4 times a week for 3k so my skin is getting wrecked by

the chlorine, I have ordered the tsv but am worried it may not work well with

the all the chlorine ??

Lorna Perry

Just want to say well done for a fab tsv. Keep up the great work. Love Alpha H

eye products. Helped with dark circles under my eyes Lx

Alison Meech

Hi Tom, looking forward to receiving the TSV but as Karen Austin asks can you

recommend anything for lines above the lip? Many thanks

Cathy Winsall

Hello Tom, guess who! I was one of the lucky ones to get the new balm yesterday

and you said about using the laser concentrate underneath. I really love my LG

night repair too though, so how do I use them both? Should I carry on with the

laser as a day serum with SPF or should I use it under the balm and not use the

night repair? Nice and clean behind the ears btw x

Tom Ogden

Hi Everyone! Here I go… the fastest one finger typist in the West

Tom Ogden

Hi Amy! So glad that you enjoyed the shows yesterday and found them informative.

Do let me know how you get on with your routine and if you have any questions

once the products arrive just let me know…or speak to Cathy, my Back To You

co-presenter

Cathy Winsall

Cathy hides under the blanket...embarrassed...I said I would keep quiet and

Frankie said..nooooo !!!

Tom Ogden

Hey Victoria! Congratulations on your impending nuptials  As your skin is very

sensitive, I would recommend you start by using the Liquid Gold on a dampened

cotton pad only as opposed to using it "neat". Tell me more about the eczema

patches. Are they in a particular area? Are the patches itchy? Are you using any

prescription treatments on them? X

Tom Ogden

Hi Sandra! I think I might have answered your question or a very similar one

about the Tria earlier. Let me check back. Or maybe I'm just going slightly mad

(always possible!) X

Janie Smith

Hi tom I don't know anything about the laser concentrate. WhT does it do and

where would I slot it into my regime? Cxx

Tom Ogden

Hi Sue! That's handy that your daughter had a bottle  Now I know where to turn

if I run out! Hope you love your Balancing Cleanser as much as I do. I couldn't

live without it!  X

Victoria Rolph

Thanks Tom, they come and go on my neck and at the side of my face, I've never

had it on my face before but I lost my brother suddenly in oct last yr so my

skin is reacting which is no surprise, but I do get spots once a month so I

ordered the triple cleansers too, over night with steroid cream calms it down

though xx

Amy Wall

Thanks Tom will do x

Janie Smith

And another one! (Sorry). Which of your cleansers will remove makeup please? X

Jill Dowding-Walker

The shows were great yesterday! Bless Michelle getting all emotional when the

Yorkshire man rang in!

Sharon Harvey

The shows were fabulous!! So lovely to see Michelle x

Sue Robblers

Hi Tom, is the balancing cleaser in the tsv safe to use for teens? Do you have

any other suggestions for problem teen skin? thank you.

Lynn Parry

Hi Tom I have ordered the TSV but have a small mole on my face which I caught

with my ring so is a bit sensitive at the moment should I avoid this when using

liquid gold until it has healed over? Thanks x

Tom Ogden

Hi Tanya  I'm really pleased to hear that Liquid Gold has helped to improve the

Melasma. It is the hardest thing to treat so you're going to have to be very

persistent as it can be very deep in the skin. It's also important that you wear

a sunscreen with an SPF factor of 30 or more every single day. I would also

suggest that you might want to try our Liquid Gold Radiance on the nights you

don't use Liquid Gold. Apply the Liquid Gold Radiance to clean, dry skin, just

to the area of the pigmentation and then follow with your night cream. You can

also use it in the morning as long as you follow it with your SPF protection.

Liquid Gold Radiance contains a number of different brightening ingredients and

I have lots of clients who find it very beneficial for Melasma. You can buy it

from the QVC Alpha-H brand shop. Let me know how you get on. Tx

Jill Dowding-Walker

Would Tanya Tremelling benefit from using the Laser Serum and the Laser Balm on

her skin concerns? Alternate with the LG and you should see more improvement. x

Maggie Wheeler

Gutted I missed out on yesterdays TSV. I love the eye gel.

Tanya Tremelling

Thank you Tom Ogden I will.

Tom Ogden

Hello Maureen! You can apply the Liquid Gold to the orbital bone under the eye,

but it's only the Absolute Eye Complex which can be applied over the lid and

right up to the lash. Tx

Sharon Harvey

Tom is this Range good for medication ravaged, dehydrated skin? X

Jill Dowding-Walker

Liquid Laser is the latest product within the Alpha-H product range to meet the

needs and requirements of prematurely ageing skins. Liquid Laser boasts key

ingredients: Hexapeptide, Hydranov P and Glycolic Acid to help turn back the

clock. Janie x

Jill Dowding-Walker

Liquid Laser helps stimulate cellular repair and provides instant hydration.

Used on alternate evenings, it acts as a moisture builder and helps turn the

tired, devitalised and slightly saggy epidermis into a plump and dewy one.

Tom Ogden

It's true that stress and bereavement can have a huge impact on our skin

Victoria. I'm very sorry to hear you've gone through such a tough time. You need

to be a little careful with Liquid Gold though when using a steroid cream. I

would suggest you avoid applying the Liquid Gold to the specific eczema patches.

Treat those with the steroid cream only. Steroids can thin the skin a little so

you don't need to exfoliate them any further. I think Balancing Cleanser will be

great for your skin as it really helps to repair the surface barrier and restore

the correct pH. Do let me know how you get on  Tx

Debbie Flint

hey all! Have fun! see you on air 9pm! grat line up for back to yo! x

Cathy Winsall

I wouldnt say its just for premature aging skin Jill. It was amazing with my

deep acne scarring. I would certainly recommend for us aging Queens too lol x

Amy Wall

We are Debbie and then it's over to you. Can't wait xxx

Victoria Rolph

Thanks Tom, you've been fab, love the eye complex  and can't wait to try the

cleanser so pleased they have no parabens as I'm allergic to those lol not much

hope for me really thanks again x

Tom Ogden

Hi Janie! The Liquid Laser Concentrate is a moisturising and line plumping

treatment, which is particularly good for a skin that is struggling to produce

enough moisture of it's own. If you're using Liquid Gold, I'd recommend using

the Liquid Laser Concentrate on the other nights. Massage a few drops over your

cleansed face, neck and décolletage and then follow with your night cream. We're

getting terrific results with this product on fine lines, wrinkles and to help

boost luminosity. Hope you like it too  Tx

Tom Ogden

Janie, both the Balancing Cleanser and Triple Action Cleanser will remove all of

your make-up, including waterproof mascara. Tx

Louise Taylor

Hi Tom. Me again. Ordered the TSV following advice you gave me last time about

my skin. All 3 products you recommended were in the TSV. Can't wait for it to

come xx

Sharon Harvey

Tom you are brilliant!

Tom Ogden

Hi Nicky  There is some research to suggest that spots on the temple area are

linked to a sluggish lymphatic system. Physical exfoliation and the effect of

massaging the skin tissue to help eliminate toxins might therefore be useful.

Have you tried Micro Cleanse? Better still - apply a clay mask to the area

first; let it dry and then remove it *with* the Micro Cleanse. Do that a couple

of times a week. That should help to detoxify Tx

Maureen Blake

Can you use liquid gold on eye lids and up to lash line pse ordered TSV not sure

if eye complex only was to be used this way ?? Thanks Tom x

Cathy Winsall

Yep, fastest one armed typist in the West !

Tom Ogden

Wow! It's busy tonight! My fingers are smoking  Thanks for all your questions.

Hope I can keep up!!!

Janie Smith

Thank you tom. Xx

Sharon Harvey

Hehe funny tom x

Amy Wall

You're doing great tom. I'm struggling to keep up with all the comments x

Liz Cairns

Sorry *skids in late after treating a lovely Reiki client* what have I missed? X

Lorri Vick

When I receive the laser balm do I use it on its own or can it go on top of

other serums i use from other brands?

Maureen Blake

Many thanks Tom you are an angel

Julie Baker

Maureen Blake from what I remember from yesterday, liquid gold up to the orbital

bone only. Then the eye serum over the eye lid and to lash line x

Tom Ogden

Hi Karen and Lorna! Thanks for your question about lines above the lip.

Definitely the Liquid Gold will help as it's now clinically proven to help

reduce wrinkle depth, but you might also want to try our Liquid Gold Intensive

Night Repair Serum on the alternate night to the regular Liquid Gold. The

Matrixyl-6 peptide it contains and the Niacinamide in the formula are great

"skin plumpers". We also have a product called Age Delay Eye & Lip Cream, which

is good for expression lines around the lip contour and below the orbital bone.

You'll find it on the QVC Alpha-H brand shop. Tx

Tom Ogden

Jill, when that chap rang in yesterday during the 1pm, we were all blubbing

away. Once Michelle starts, I'm off. Our lovely model Rachel was the same. Not a

dry eye in the house! X

Amy Wall

Ah that's what I need as well then Age delay eye and lip cream. Thanks for that

info xx

Tom Ogden

Hi Sue! Balancing Cleanser is absolutely safe to use on teens as it's very

gentle, but you might find their problematic skin responds even better to the

Triple Action Cleanser as it's more antibacterial. X

Nicky Adams

Thanks Tom Ogden  x

Tom Ogden

Hi Lynn! Ouch! That must of hurt Yes, I would suggest you avoid applying the

Liquid Gold to the mole until it's healed. X

Liz Cairns

Yehah! My TSV and lights saber ( laser ) concentrate have both been dispatched.

Fabulous skin here I come! X

Michael James Hamlyn

We'll expect this every week now you know Tom

Great TSV and fab new launches... Was so tempted by the balm but it seemed more

geared to mature skin?

Emma Harvey

Hello my little girl (age 7 ) has a chicken pox scar / red spot she hates it can

I use anything from your range on her ( she asked me to ask the man on the telly

yesterday ) she loves qvc !!!

Tom Ogden

Hey Sharon! Yep, the range is good for medication ravaged and very dehydrated

skin, particularly the Balancing Cleanser, Essential Hydration Cream and the Age

Delay Facial Oil. All great for super sensitive peeps  X

Anne Keating

Hi Tom. I bought the TSV yesterday - one question - can I use all the products

on my eyes?

Tom Ogden

That's great Louise! Keep me posted on your results! Xx

Tom Ogden

Hi Lorri! You can certainly apply the Liquid Laser Balm over other serums, but

you may find it gives you same benefit you'd get from using both a serum *and* a

cream as it's packed with lovely, skin plumping and brightening ingredients  Xx

Tom Ogden

Julie, you're good  X

Lorri Vick

Fantastic Tom - thank you

Karen Austin

Thanks tom xxxx

Jill Dowding-Walker

Anne, you can use the cleanser and eye serum right onto eyelids and lashes.

Liquid Gold just as far as orbital bone around eye. x

Tom Ogden

Hi Anne! Thank you for buying the TSV. You can use the Balancing Cleanser over

the eyes to remove your make-up and you can apply the Absolute Eye Complex right

up to the lash and over the eye lid, but with the Liquid Gold, just apply it up

to and along the orbital bone. I hope you enjoy trying the products and that you

get great results. Keep me posted  Tx

Julie Baker

Aw thanks Tom Ogden, I have the liquid gold and I'm vowing this year to stick

with it, I'm most excited for the eye cream as it was recommended by alison

young. I have my elemis tsv to work through too so I'm glad the unopened shelf

life is so long. and I'm very lazy with my water intake ( I just don't like

water lol) so my skin appears very thirsty

Tom Ogden

Hahaha! Liz! "Light Saber Concentrate". I LOVE that!  Xxx

Ruth Frances Beer

Tom Ogden I so wish I could have had a little try of your TSV yesterday! x

Tom Ogden

Hi Michael! You're just a slip of a lad surely?  Don't think you need the balm

for a while yet  Thank you for tuning in and I'm glad you liked the TSV and the

new launches. We have lots of other exciting things planned for this year too!

Tx

Anne Keating

Thanks Jill and Tom. My first purchase and I like the idea I can use my other

products in between. It can become very expensive completely changing brands. I

need in particular to do something about the dark circles under my eyes and I

feel it's going to work for me.

Julie Baker

Same for me Anne Keating my under eye area is uneven too and though it feels

smooth it doesn't look at all hydrated

Tom Ogden

Hello Emma! We like to start them young here on Back To You! Vitamin E might be

a good solution for your little one. It helps to stimulate the immune system and

breaks down scar tissue. We have a Vitamin E serum on our QVC brand shop, but

it's quite expensive so you might want to try something from the health shop

first? It's funny; all my friends kids watch me on the telly. My mum always said

I should have gone into kids TV lol! X

Tom Ogden

Ruth, you should have said  Have you never tried Liquid Gold? You're probably

sick of hearing me bang on about it when you're at QVC;) X

Lorri Vick

You are very likeable Tom Ogden and easy to listen to and I reckon kids are a

good judge :)xx

Liz Cairns

Sounds like you have studied and memorised every word about the products Jiil

‪#‎expert x

Tom Ogden

Keep us posted Anne  I certainly needed something for my TSV-induced dark

circles this morning!! A little tip for you - keep your eye complex in the

fridge so it's extra cooling! X

Tom Ogden

That's a great idea Jill! I have one of those infusers and they're fab  X

Liz Cairns

Loving the effect of liquid gold and people are asking me about my skin! Result

Emma Harvey

Ok thank you I will get her some she gets very upset by it and asked me to cover

it for school  she is funny tells me to buy all the beauty on qvc and likes to

try all i buy , she is having a beauty party sleepover for her birthday in April

what have I done !!!!! Thank you again  xxxx

Michael James Hamlyn

Haha OK Tom thanks lol xx

Tom Ogden

Thank you Lorri! It's lovely to chat with people who also love their skincare.

It's been my passion for the longest time  X

Jill Dowding-Walker

Well I am such an evangelist since finding this range Liz ‪#‎keenasmustard!!!

Tom Ogden

Liz, I have to know everything; every ingredient. Michelle and I sit for hours

discussing everything. No wonder we have no friends (hehe - just kidding, I've

got one or two!) Xx

Ruth Frances Beer

Tom Ogden next time we're in QVC together I will come grab you for a full on

facial LOL! xx

Sharon Harvey

How lovely to have the brilliant Tom " fastest one finger typist in the west "

back with us tonight! Tom thank you so much for your time and for your amazing

replies! We really appreciate you popping on to the Back To You Page and keeping

a watchful eye on your Alpha-H lovers! Remember Tom... "You are Gold... Always

believe in your soul... You've got the power to know... Your indestructible..."

Sorry! Happy New Year!!

Please now switch Over to QVC And join Debbie Flint and her BACK TO YOU show xx

Jill Dowding-Walker

Thank you Tom Ogden - see you at the Beauty Bash! Must get a photo together!!! x

x x

Tom Ogden

Emma, I'll be looking for a replacement for me when I'm too old and infirm to

appear on the telly. Maybe your daughter has spotted a future vocation  Tx

Liz Cairns

It is definitely one of those ranges, Jill that just makes such a difference,

it's hard not to like it x

Lorri Vick

Thank you Jill Dowding-Walker for the link on infused water - i need to try that

as i dont drink enough and find it a chore lol xx

Jill Dowding-Walker

Hahaha Sharon!!! x x x

Sharon Harvey

Sorry

Tom Ogden

Where does the time go Sharon??? It's always an absolute pleasure to chat to you

all. Can't wait to meet many of you at Beauty Bash. Don't be shy; come and see

us. Michelle can't be with me unfortunately  , but I promise to make up for her

absence! X

Julie Baker

Lorri Vick I love to eat veggies but in terms of drink I'll be honest I need to

fight myself here, I'm just so lazy lol

Lorri Vick

Will definitely come and say hello at BB xx

Emma Harvey

Ha ha she can talk for England and loves beauty she has red carpet gel nails on

now she has her own stash of beauty things so could be the job for her !!! Xxxx

thank you again

Liz Cairns

Big thanks again, Tom. There will be some very fresh faced (Alpha H) women

queueing to speak to you at the Beauty Bash. Cathy and I will be the ones with

the sharpened elbows getting ourselves to the front of the queue hee hee xx

Tom Ogden

Bye everybody! I hope I got to all your questions. Until next time… Txxx

Tom Ogden

And have a wonderful New year! X

Liz Cairns

Tom Ogden, it's a sign of how passionate you are about the products and the

results they give. Keep it up xx

Dawn Robinson

Thank you Tom & Sharon xx

Karen Austin

Thanks tom, what would we do without you? Xxx

Sandra Harrington Kayne

Tom Ogden I am suitably impressed by each personal response - you are on fire! I

haven't dared use liquid gold as well as the tria yet but do love using alpha h

spf50 every day. Let me know when you can, but I plan to start back with liquid

gold again on the 2 tria rest days in a couple of weeks. In the meantime keep up

the good work, you make an old, haggard bird bird happy with you're on TV.

Tom Ogden

Hi Sandra  I've not used the Tria, but if it using it creates any redness or

flaking then I'd avoid using the Liquid Gold. Wait until the skin has had chance

to completely recover. I'm delighted to hear you love the SPF50! And thanks for

the nice words  Tx

LET’S START AS WE MEAN TO GO ON, TEAM. AND NOT JUST START, BUT KEEP GOING ON!

PS – Watch out soon for Christianne Wolff, (Marie-Francoise, our Kipling guest’s sister) who is making waves with her ‘Body Rescue Plan,’ appearing on our Back to You live webchat – around Thursday 15th, and on air on QVC about the same time at 9am.

For archive webchats, see previous Back to You blogs – to the left of this update on this page!

Published in Back to You

Buy the current book here meanwhile – and you can read the first bit for free there too! : click on

Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – The ‘When’ Diet

Other interesting links –

-          Katie Hopkins’ show about the simplicity of losing weight – although it didn’t really address the emotional compulsions that stop people doing what we know makes sense. More here.

-          Davina McCall Plan and her Sunday ‘You’ magazine pull out, related to her new book about cutting right down on toxic sugar in your diet – very worth while doing this. I advocate it in order to properly hear and trust the signals in your body. Well done Davina! More here about ‘Five Weeks to Sugar Free’.

 -          Christianne’s Body Rescue Plan – 9am on 16th, and she’s on webchat on 15th 8-9pm. So see if you can stick to it – if you can you will feel so much healthier – it ain’t brain surgery. But maybe this will do it for you just like Catherine! Here’s what to expect -

Such a shame about your accidental breakage  won't be long though, do you have a PF crystal nail file to keep your nails sealed? x

Jill Dowding-Walker I do! Would not be without a crystal file!

Jackie Springett Yes once you have used a crystal nail file nothing else will do xx

Ruth Frances Beer This has been so much fun! Thanks to you all for your comments and feedback, I have a few things to chat to Perfect Formula inventor Shari Gottesman about tomorrow! Can't believe only 10 mins left ! xxx

Jackie Springett When are you on QVC again with PF do you know, love watching x

Lorri Vick Yes Ruth - we need more PF please - and thank you for giving up your time - its so good to get advice from you -

Jackie Springett I agree Lorri xx

Tom Ogden

Liz Cairns

Tom Ogden, it's a sign of how passionate you are about the products and the

results they give. Keep it up xx

Dawn Robinson

Thank you Tom & Sharon xx

Karen Austin

Thanks tom, what would we do without you? Xxx

Sandra Harrington Kayne

Tom Ogden I am suitably impressed by each personal response - you are on fire! I

haven't dared use liquid gold as well as the tria yet but do love using alpha h

spf50 every day. Let me know when you can, but I plan to start back with liquid

gold again on the 2 tria rest days in a couple of weeks. In the meantime keep up

the good work, you make an old, haggard bird bird happy with you're on TV.

Tom Ogden

Hi Sandra  I've not used the Tria, but if it using it creates any redness or

flaking then I'd avoid using the Liquid Gold. Wait until the skin has had chance

to completely recover. I'm delighted to hear you love the SPF50! And thanks for

the nice words  Tx

Blog 141229 last b2u webchat – all about you! And Monday essay – breathe deeply.

As we bow out of 2014, its time to reflect. What a year it’s been on Back to You QVC facebook group – some extracts of the final webchat are below – we opened the floor to members/viewers/back to You’ers, and some of the thoughts were lovely to read.

Plus, now Xmas is over and New Year just around the corner, many are feeling the stresses and needing to relax – I focus on the importance of breathing deeply, or properly if you don’t already. It sounds obvious but a lot of people – me included – just don’t.

And another little ‘squeeeee’ in Other News – my recent measurement from Imedeen as well as a stark reminder of the dangers of sugar and why it’s so vital to cut it out if you’re serious about you’re health and weight loss.

See bottom of this blog for full Monday Essay, followed by snippets from the webchat – thanks to all who took part! (links are below to join the facebook groups I mention on here.)

Back to You show – begins Monday 5th January 9pm then Weekly all month!

With the new run of Back to You on QVC starting again on 5th January, will you be joining me? What will your resolutions be? Do tune in for inspiration for health and well being, and to make your home a nicer place to be. More info about exactly what’s in the first show will be posted here once I know for sure.

TTFLS Special Edition But the news is that almost certainly we will be bringing you a new and exclusive HARDBACK version of Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet – with extra content and it’ll be signed! It’ll be on advanced orders, or that’s the plan – you can order your copy in advance and it’ll be dispatched just as soon as it hits the QVC warehouse system towards the end of January. Why then? Well it’ll be handy to help you battle the end of January guilt that inevitably hits most people as they fall off the wagon with New Years’ Resolutions. As far as a new eating regime is concerned, TTFLs and Freedom Eating is there to work alongside ANY diet plan or system you can imagine. Yes any. Plus – some exciting news about a radio interview too – see ‘other news’ below!

(join Till the Fat Lady Slims group and ‘like’ the page for regular ‘tip of the day’ updates to help you on your way.)

For most people TTFLS works. If you can’t wait until the hardback is available, get   Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet, (click here – paperback or eBook on Amazon! Find out why Freedom Eating principles make such sense. NB the first chapter is available free on the ‘look inside’.

Bodyblade Update.

Bruce was on the webchat again this week on Facebook on both groups, and announced this –

“Thanks and praise to you all for being so supportive this year for Back to you and Bodyblade QVC! I will be back on Jan 12 with two or three shows that day and again on Jan 13 with two or three shows. I am very excited to be back and will appear with Bodyblade Classic. The new kit will have a new DVD with two workouts called the Super6/Power10 which are similar to the Bodyblade on the beach workout where we do a minute of Bodyblade followed by a minute of body movement!”

He won’t be on next week’s webchat as he’ll be on a plane but the week after, he’s back in the UK and on my second B2U show! Yay!

Other News –

-          Deb to appear on BBC Radio? If you listen to Jo Good 3-5pm weekdays on BBC Radio London, you may have caught one of our lovely facebookers, Sara Brown, who called in to Jo’s Boxing Day programme extolling the virtues of TTFLS! Well the producer has invited me in to the studio to talk live about Freedom Eating and how well it works at this time of year. Once it’s done I’ll post the podcast! So unless anything changes tune in New Years Eve around 4pm to Jo’s show on 94.9 or online. BBC radio – that’ll be another first for me! Listen here.

-          Imedeen Update  Now I don’t often make the ‘other news’ about a little magic moment I had, but this week I was well impressed when discussing my skin with analyst Emma from the renowned collagen supplement Imedeen. Now this is only my own experience and I eat well and everyone’s different. BUT a year after taking it every day, after my initial skin density measurement came up at 47, when she measured me again with her ultrasound machine this weekend, its over 55! That’s a whopping increase and means I’m with Joanna Lumley and Christie Turlington in finding them excellent. Yours may differ but now we’ve got a full 4 month try out period – yes you heard me right – I couldn’t resist telling you more about it on here. Click here to see it on QVC.

-          Wean yourself off sugar if you’re serious about your health.

More pertinent articles to read to help you realise why sugar is so harmful – specifically fructose, the unnaturally concentrated sugar from fruit, which should only be eaten as whole fruit so the fibre combats the problems caused by the fructose. Read on to see why it’s so damaging and how vital it is to stop thinking a calorie is a calorie. For instance, did you know that a third of all calories ingested from fructose (ordinary sugar is half fructose) are AUTOMATICALLY CONVERTED INTO FAT; no matter what else you eat, how much exercise you do, it’s true. Just watch ‘sugar the bitter truth’, the ‘Youtube sensation’ with Prof Robert Lustig to see why it happens, especially if you love biochemistry! Or the many other fascinating and impactful videos – ‘toxic sugar’ from ABC, ‘Is sugar toxic’ from sixty minutes etc. And read the fascinating scientific studies and articles below.

Don’t forget to read below for webchat comments from our lovely Back to You gang on Facebook.

NB Also below, the Monday Essay about the importance of breathing properly in putting paid to ‘end-of-year-it is’!

Next week – The first of 2015! And what happened on 5th on the very first show from the new run – remember, 9pm Mondays in January on QVC UK!

Have a great week!

Debs

X

Ps in case you missed me saying, this Wednesday, on New Year’s Eve I’m on the Charlie Bears show at 8pm, plus the 9pm then off to my pal Shyama’s to see in the new year. Julia is on with a new pilates offer at the stroke of midnight – so get ready to join us if you’re not a party animal, to see in 2015, with a keep fit Today’s Special Value. And once you’ve joined our groups, you can keep going on, not just start!

THE MONDAY ESSAY

The Importance of Breathing Deeply

‘End of year-itis’ is a disease we all suffer from, from time to time. And many women will right now be stuffing their faces with the last mince pies, chocs and xmas biscuits, telling themselves it’s all because they will ‘start again on January 1st.’ Magically, they think, everything will be transformed and they will easily lose the weight and stick to a plan. Er…. really? OK we all do it, to a lesser or greater extent. BUT what if we didn’t have to? If you’re stressed enough from all the rushing around at Xmas, why add yet more stress to your body by making it deal with toxins and overload it with stodgy carbs, creating an insulin nightmare which prevents the body from acting normally and starts off a whole new chain of reactions leading inevitably to the diet being broken, another last supper and ‘starting again tomorrow’ over and over again. And another rubbish January with nothing to show for it except some extra pounds. If that’s you, please join us on Back to You QVC facebook group. The support is excellent, and the info and links given have helped transform some people’s lives (read on below.)

Naturally I’m going to tell you that Till the Fat Lady Slims’ Freedom Eating method will assist you in stepping off that wagon and changing the habits of a lifetime. It will. Plus you can use it alongside any of your existing intended diet plans – books, DVD’s, classes, whatever – yes really, you can. That’s the ‘When’ diet part of the second version of my book. Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet, is the current version (purple cover) available on Amazon in paperback or eBook. * find it here.

And then I’m going to say – take a moment and breathe deeply. I mean really deeply.

The method I use, I first learned in Tony Robbin’s Personal Power 30 day audio tape pack, in the late 90’s. it involves taking in a deep breath, as deep as you can, holding it for longer, then breathing out in a controlled way. Typically I count as follows –

1. Inhale through your nose, expanding your belly, then fill your chest. Counting to 6

2. Hold and Count to 6.

3. Exhale fully from slightly parted mouth making a ‘hhhhhhh’ hissing noise, counting to 6.

That’s my way – particularly when I’m on my own – otherwise the hissing will have a weird effect on bystanders and even scares Daisy the Labrador. There are of course other rhythms, involving longer or shorter elements. But if I do it on the way to work, for instance, at the end of a journey where I’ve been doing that, I find myself less tense and more able to then breathe more naturally afterwards.

I’ve started doing it again recently in a more deliberate way after realising one too many wrong food choices over Xmas (not much, and not often, but enough to notice a difference - remember dairy in particular has a big impact on me now that I usually almost never have it.) So I’ve been finding myself not able to breathe very deeply without it being an effort. This type of exercise, which I do for 15 mins to half an hour or so,  I believe strengthens the inter-rib muscles and makes my rib cage more able longer term, to suck in the air my body needs so desperately. I know also that I can create a headache scenario within my own body by not breathing correctly, plus I can become really tired without proper oxygen being exchanged in my lungs. There are tons more benefits of getting my breathing right – and just one of the many articles online is linked to below so you can find out more, but there are many, many others to read about. From the heart to digestion to the immune system, so many things have been linked to having benefits from better breathing. Even the ancient Romans apparently had doctors who recommended deep breathing. And it’s free, and it’s instant and it’s so easy to do.

Once you get the hang of the benefits, schedule your deep breathing exercise just as you would schedule important appointments eg a minimum of two 10 minute segments of time everyday although you can begin with two five minutes segments if you prefer. - See more here.

Please read the long list of benefits that breathing deeply brings – just google that phrase and you’ll see endless articles like that one.

And what’s more important, you may feel you need comfort, which translates to comfort eating, when really a good deep breathing session might be what your body really needs. Why not give it a go? And see the new year in, with some alternative New Year’s Resolutions. And maybe say goodbye to End-Of-Year-It is.

Have a good one!

Over to You – Back to You Facebook Webchat 29th December 2014

How has Back to You helped you in the past year?

From our Facebook group webchat, 8-9pm.

Anne Keating – (going to feature on the interview segments in the new series)

“I've just got over a couple of days of feeling really poorly which put me right out. HOWEVER I've just got back from weigh in and I'd only put a pound on over Xmas. Much, much better than usual! My big moment this year was when I read Debbie Flints book Til The Fat Lady Slims and decided to combine the principles in the book with going to Slimming World. That, and getting started on the Bodyblade Supersix, has turned my life around… I used a sleep app and found my sleep efficiency increased by 10% if I used the Bodyblade 20 minutes or so before going to bed! That's a bonus Bruce! … And it means that I am starting 2015 positively, having lost 9lbs in under two months and having a completely different outlook on food and eating. This group, the QVC Queens and Bodyblade pages have been fantastic, but I can't thank Debbie enough for all her support. She's my hero! Bring on 2015.”

Janie Smith – also featuring on video interviews

“Thanks to freedom eating and macro tummies I've not gained any weight over christmas. Yay.
I love this group keeps me on the straight and narrow. I use my aero Pilates machine on my active rest days and am trying very hard to buy a body blade! Debs is blooming inspiring and I have some lovely new friends. Thankyou xxxxccc”

Amy Wall – one of our lovely regulars

“I'm new to all this FB Twitter etc and as I retired 18 months ago and then diagnosed with BC I realised that I had to change my lifestyle once my treatment had finished so the big change for me was when I found out about Debbie's book TTFLS and started putting the principles from it in place. where I have found so much support from the other members and finally today I am awaiting receipt of a Bodyblade Yeahhhh Bruce Hymanson all ready to go as soon as it arrives. Thank you also Sharon for all your hard work and support for this group xxxx”

Valerie Cady – regular and fabulous success story

“Joined the group in November after googling and coming across Debbs books and links to health and exercise . I find the group supportive and interesting . We each share our experiences and encourage motivation . I love the body blade and the beach video exercises . It's early days for me, but I’m happy to have started my journey into wellness.
Thanks to Debbie and Bruce for their time and for making it fun xx”

Cathy Winsall – with a different angle

“Bodyblade is fab and TTFLS is invaluable and thankyou Bruce and Debs for these, but for me this year it has to be Alpha H that changed my life after so many years of the most horrendous spots and rosacea flare ups. Alpha H has turned my skin around and thankyou Tom Ogden, you have been my fave webchat guest. Happy New Year”

Heidi Moss – with a request!

“ Looking forward to the shows - the last ones Debbie Flint did on a Mon really motivated me and started the week in the right mood. Wish this could be a regular thing.”

And of course chats with the experts crop up outside of our Monday webchats too – eg Marlene Watson Tara, a health expert loved by many of the members. This week she filled us in on how to make macrobiotic shopping easier, to create some of the most health-giving recipes in the world! Her book is called ‘Macrobiotics for All Seasons.’ And is on amazon.

Marlene Watson-Tara Clearspring do free shipping on orders over £40 -www.clearspring.co.uk you can watch me making many of these dishes on my you tube channel . Wholegrains, beans, lentils, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds make up 95% of a macrobiotic diet, if you don't have specific ingredients, simply start with easy grain dishes and soups, lots of recipes on my website also. Have fun and thank your lovely daughter Cheryl for guiding you towards eating a natural wholefoods diet. Miso, sea vegetables and dried shitake mushrooms, last for ages, you only use a little at a time so it is not something you have to buy as a weekly shop. Well done Sharon, super teacher you are.... Here is the link to my channel.https://www.youtube.com/user/Molly19571 - there are many great educational blogs on my website, enjoy. Xx”

Published in Back to You

Have you ever had a bit of an ‘aha’ moment where all of a sudden what you’ve thought for years suddenly comes into question? Well I had that this week, all because of a book called The Chimp Paradox.

It’s all about the primal instincts that made us chimps versus the human parts of the brain capable of more logical thoughts and action – and control. The author, Professor Steve Peters, explains it all himself on the audio book (my fave!) and it’s had over 1000 reviews on Amazon, and gets a whopping 4.5 average mark.

I think the main thrust of it is so important, I’ve made it this week’s Monday Essay. If you can, do go read the ‘look inside’ on Amazon – the free sample bit which you get to if you go to amazon.co.uk and click on the photo of the book on the left. If it’s available it should have a little ‘look inside’ flash too.

I think it’s honestly one of those game-changers – just like ‘Fat Chance – the bitter Truth about Sugar’ and ‘Biology of Belief,’ or ‘Manifest your Destiny’ – all brilliant books and highly recommended if you fancy filling up your kindle this Christmas! (or Kobo or nook or Hudl etc!

See bottom of this blog for full Monday Essay.

And in the run up to the ‘big day’ – just remember the few basic principles of Freedom Eating to rescue you if you panic! They’re summarised below!

Back to You Update – two weeks and counting!

What DO I like to do in my spare time and what was the answer to ‘your top three beauty products?’ Book your place in front of the remote 8-9pm webchat then 9-10pm live show on QVC, every Monday in January. Tons of fabulous products to help your feeling of well being – that’s what the group is all about! Again, facebook group links are below.

Big December Competition – it’s on till closing date of 31st December so do go to my recent QVC blog – it includes a Bodyblade as a prize! Plus some Laura Geller, Liz Earle, JW Phytomineral EDP and both my books – my trilogy of romances, Hawaiian Trilogy, AND the latest Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ diet book too. Enter on my QVC blog – go here to see how. Whoop!

TTFLS UPDATE

Meanwhile, another amazingly wonderful and rewarding post on Till the Fat Lady Slims facebook group from another lovely Freedom Eating fan. Anne says –

“Another pound and a half off this week - I'm really pleased with that with all the festivities before Christmas. That's three and half pounds this month. And I'm eating food I haven't eaten for years 'cos it's fattening'! And I think the Bodyblade workout is helping”’ Anne Keating, TTFLS page.

Don’t comment, it’s just for fun! Lol. Read the info about it here.

Don’t forget to read below for webchats Tom from Alpha H skincare (he has a TSV bargain on QVC on Jan 4th btw) and also bodyblade Bruce did  a Monday chat too – see bottom of this blog!

THE MONDAY ESSAY

The Chimp Paradox

By Professor Steve Peters

What an amazing book and how fabulous it’s narrated by the author, the top psychiatrist who’s helped top athletes and sportsmen and women overcome their mental blocks to achieve their best. This is the blurb –

Do you sabotage your own happiness and success? Are you struggling to make sense of yourself? Do your emotions sometimes dictate your life?

The Chimp Paradox is an incredibly powerful mind management model that can help you become a happy, confident, healthier and more successful person. Dr Steve Peters explains the struggle that takes place within your mind and then shows how to apply this understanding to every area of your life so you can:

- Recognise how your mind is working

- Understand and manage your emotions and thoughts

- Manage yourself and become the person you would like to be

The Chimp Mind Management Model is based on scientific facts and principles, which have been simplified into a workable model for easy use. It will help you to develop yourself and give you the skills, for example, to remove anxiety, have confidence and choose your emotions. The book will do this by giving you an understanding of the way in which your mind works and how you can manage it. It will also help you to identify what is holding you back or preventing you from having a happier and more successful life”

Chris Evans the DJ said he was obsessed by this book and after listening just to the start I can see why. Funnily enough it’s already helped me deal with a couple of situations by recognising what part of my brain I’m in when the emotions come flooding out and what I can best do to solve it. And if it helps just one person crack the mental minefield of self-sabotage when losing weight, then great!

Go here to find the book on Amazon, and the free sample, and the many hundreds of five star reviews.

Tom Ogden from Alpha H – Webchat Q&A – Dec 22nd

BACK TO YOU QVC Facebook Group - LIVE CHAT 8-9pm.

Kelly Davidson

I do have a question . I am purchasing some Liquid Gold now I am in my mid thirties. How often is it ok to use?

Jacqueline Jackson

Hi Tom, Please could you advise. I have a teenager with acne that is being treated with antibiotics ( over a year now) and I wondered if you could recommend some products that might help please. At the moment they just use dermalogica clay cleanser and a antibiotic prescribed gel ( as well as oral antibiotics) and nothing else so I'm sure there's room for some improvement and Alpha H might be the solution. Thank you x

Jill Dowding-Walker

Hi Kelly! Liquid Gold every other night - cleanse, dry, swipe with Liquid Gold, then go to bed. Simplest skin care ever!

Kelly Davidson

I thought it was a toner so you moisturise after?

Jill Dowding-Walker

No moisturiser required after it. It is not a toner - more of a treatment. If your skin is exceptionally dry, wait for an hour then apply it if you really need

Kelly Davidson

Thanks Jill

Dawn Robinson

Hello Tom :))) Are you ready for Christmas ? x

Tom Ogden

Hi Jacqueline. I'm very sorry to hear your teenager is having problems with acne. Hopefully it is just a short term issue relating to the hormonal changes we all experience during puberty. Once they've finished their Dermalogica product, I would recommend our Triple Action Cleanser (204311), which is a very gentle, but thorough (detergent-free) gel face wash with the powerful antibacterial properties of Thyme Extract. I would also recommend our Balancing & Pore Refining Mask (204159) which can be used a couple of times a week to draw out impurities. It can also be used locally on spots each night to help to quell the inflammation. When it comes to acne it is always worth looking at diet and lifestyle as well. There are some links between acne and eating foods containing high levels of refined sugars; ditto also dairy products. I would also advise to try not to pick or squeeze any of the spots as this can spread bacteria, cause further inflammation and potentially cause scarring. Do let me know if you need any further advice. You can always email our therapist customer care team on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Have a lovely Christmas! Tx

Tom Ogden

Thank you Jill! You're my "Santa's Little Skincare Helper"

Cathy Winsall

Hi Tom, hope you’re not tiddly! Well, I’ve been using the Laser concentrate for a while now and love it but want to try the radiance and vitamin serum too. How do I put these into my routine please

Louise Taylor

Hi. Im 35 and my skin has gone combination. Spotty forehead and chin yet dry cheeks. Occasional breakouts when 'hormonal' and dark circles. I currently use an spf50 on my face and cleanse etc twice daily but now looking to change my routine. I have slight redness on my cheeks. What can you suggest please xx

Jacqueline Jackson

Thank you Tom for your advice. I'll definitely get the products that you've suggested. I'm sure that diet is a factor too so will try and get them to eat better in the New year. Many thanks and Happy Christmas. x

Tom Ogden

Hi Cathy! Always lovely to hear from you…and I haven't forgotten the promise I made some time back about meeting you! With regard to the products you've mentioned, I would recommend trying our Vitamin C Serum. You would apply about 3-4 drops of this onto clean skin each morning - before you apply your Protection Plus SPF 50. Vitamin C is a wonderful skin brightener and helps improve the elasticity of the skin whilst also protecting us from the many pollutants in the air (yuck!)  I think if you're using the Liquid Laser Concentrate Serum then you don't really need the Liquid Gold Radiance as well. Liquid Laser has plenty of skin brightening ingredients. But watch out for a brand new Liquid Laser product which is launching very soon…

Shirley Paule

I just love alpha H, a product that ACTUALLY works for me

Tom Ogden

PS Cathy, I promise I'm not tiddly. I'm sipping a cup of good ole Yorkshire Tea (my fave!) X

Cathy Winsall

That’s fantastic Tom thankyou. I will get the Vitamin C and as I’m nearly out of the laser… can I ask if the new one will be in the TSV or should I be gagged here!

Tom Ogden

Hi Louise. We have very similar skin  I would suggest looking at your cleansing routine to try and bring the skin back into a more comfortable balance of water/oil. Balancing Cleanser would be great for you (plus it's a darn good make-up remover and you won't need to use a separate toner so it's a far less fussy routine). Our Liquid Gold treatment would also be beneficial - particularly when it comes to the breakouts! Finally, the Absolute Eye Complex is very highly regarded when it comes to improving the look of dark circles (but don't take my word for it, ask Ali Young  ) Hope that helps and have a lovely Christmas!! Tom

Shaz Brown

Hi Tom Ogden, Ive recently discovered Alpha h, my skin loves it especially liquid gold  When can we expect another TSV ? xx

Tom Ogden

Hi Dawn! I am sooooo ready for Christmas, most definitely! Everything is wrapped and I can't wait to see my family! Haven't seen much of them recently…in fact they moan that I spend more time on QVC than with them hehe! How about you? Are you all set for the big day?? X

Louise Taylor

Thank you Tom. I have some liquid gold and will invest in the cleanser and eye complex. Have a lovely christmas and hopefully see you at the beauty bash x

Tom Ogden

Thank you Shirley! It's always wonderful to hear that someone loves the products and that we are delivering good results and making your skin look tip top  Tx

Tom Ogden

By the way ladies…some of the products I've mentioned above might be in a TSV quite soon…

Debbie Flint

have a good chat to Tom and good luck with the TSV launch on 4th Tom Ogden !! mwah to everyone! NB Next Monday night at 8-9pm it's all about you guys - and what's happened to you over the last year and how Back to You group and shows have helped! x ps am off to answer my own B&A now! See you on the other post! x

Tom Ogden

Before I do head off for Christmas Dawn, there's the small matter of an Alpha-H show tomorrow night at 23.00 (plug plug!!)  Txx

Amirah Valu

Hi Tom, I'm finding my skin getting really dry, although i tend to have oily/blemish skin most of the time! Anyway to hydrate it and keep the oil at bay?

Jan Lee Burgess

Hi Tom, a big thanks for recommending me to try Alpha H, absolutely brilliant, my skin care for life xx

Cathy Winsall

Will we see the new laser in the TSV in January please Tom?

Tom Ogden

Louise! Please come and introduce yourself at Beauty Bash!! We will be offering Alpha-H treatments too so I'd love you to have a facial and answer any questions you have about your routine, but if you fancy a facial please come to the stand early as it gets so darn busy

Tom Ogden

Hi Shaz! I'm delighted to hear you're a Liquid Gold convert! I'm 8 and a half years into my Liquid Gold love affair! You'll be glad to hear that we have a TSV very soon…in fact it's on January 4th! I'll have barely finished singing "auld lang syne"!!! Hope you can tune in! Have a great Christmas! Tx

Tom Ogden

Who else is coming to Beauty Bash??

Cathy Winsall

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !

Tom Ogden

OMG! Cathy!! That's fantastic! Which day???

Sarah Stables

Hi Tom i suffer with Fibromyalgia and have noticed my skin can get dry and itchy once i've taken my makeup off but oily when i have makeup on also i don't have acne but i get spots and redness and they take forever to disappear, what can you recommend?

Cathy Winsall

Jan 20th in the afternoon.

Cathy Winsall

Tom you have amazing skin, what is your day routine?

Tom Ogden

Hi Sarah. I have had other clients with Fibromyalgia and their skin was also very easily stimulated. I think it's best to go with a very simple routine and avoid using too many different products. I don't know if you've tried Alpha-H, but our Balancing Cleanser would be great for your skin as it really helps to restore the correct balance of oil and water in the Epidermis whilst normalising the pH. I would also recommend our Essential Hydration Cream, which is very hydrating but has a completely matte finish. It also contains Arnica, Malt and Barley extracts which calm the skin and reduce redness. Look out for a duo of these very products in my show tomorrow or during our TSV hours on January 4th. Please let me know how you get on and if you need more detailed advice you can always email our therapist customer service team at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Have a lovely Christmas! Tx

Tom Ogden

Hi Jan Lee Burgess! I'm so glad you tried the brand and that it's made such a difference to your skin! Welcome to the Alpha-Holics  Txxx

Sarah Stables

Tom thanks for your advice i've got your show set to record tomorrow, i have never tried your products before and unfortunately my QVC addict beauty expert mum past away this year. So having to try things and learn to look after myself. I shall also look out for the TSV thankyou. Have a lovely Christmas to you too. x

Tom Ogden

Hi Amirah! It's probably the time of year that's contributed to your skin feeling more dry all of a sudden. You might find you need to use a slightly milder cleanser during the colder months. I'd also recommend our Essential Hydration Cream as it will top up your moisture levels without leaving your skin feeling greasy! Hope that helps  Tx

Kelly Davidson

Caroline Hirons raves about your products, will keep a keen eye on the TSV and give them a try  Tom

Tom Ogden

Very excited to meet you on the 20th Cathy! I'd better shine my shoes and clean behind my ears hadn't I?;) Tx

Tom Ogden

Thank you for the lovely compliment about my skin Cathy  I absolutely love my Balancing Cleanser, Gentle Daily Exfoliant, Protection Plus Daily SPF 50, Absolute Eye Complex and Liquid Gold Intensive Night Repair Serum. Oh and I use something called Liquid Gold too… Don't know if you've heard of it…

Cathy Winsall

No you can clean behind mine Tom. An Alpha H facial would make my new year!

Tom Ogden

Hello Nikki! And thank you

Sharon Harvey

You go Cathy! Xx whoop whoop! X

Cathy Winsall

I sure would be whooping if I'm lucky enough Sharon

Tom Ogden

Btw everyone… it's Liquid Gold 15th Anniversary in 2015 and we will be celebrating all year with lots of special items. Can't wait for you to see them all  It's going to be a Liquid Gold Love Affair

Tom Ogden

Hi Kelly! Yes indeed - the lovely Caroline Hirons is a bit partial to ye olde Liquid Gold. Who knows…maybe one day we'll get her to come on air with us…stranger things have happened…

Tom Ogden

Haha! Cathy! Your therapist awaits! Xx

Cathy Winsall

OMG I would be in heaven!

Taylor Nikki

Tom I'm coming to BB as a customer this year so may have a go on your facial bed ! Cathy I'm going weds morning so lets hook up and say hi xxxx

Taylor Nikki

Cathy Winsall the liquid laser is amazing - have you tried it ?

Tom Ogden

Very sorry to hear about your mum Sarah. Hope we can make a difference to your skin. Take care. Tx

Cathy Winsall

Oh no Nikki...I thought you were going to try to make both days? I will be there on the 20th which is the Tuesday. I am soooo disappointed I wont see you

Tom Ogden

I hope I haven't missed anyone's question… My eyes are spinning

Taylor Nikki

Oh no Cathy - day before - ill try and come up with a plan x

Cathy Winsall

Yes you missed mine Tom..will the new laser be in the TSV in Jan please?

Louisa Doyle

Good evening tom could you use liquid gold on teenagers with acne scaring the balancing cleanser has bought them under control but she has been left with scarring x

Sharon Harvey

So Tom.... favourite Christmas....Song, Game & Tipple?

Cathy Winsall

I do hope so Nikki x

Tom Ogden

For those who love the new Liquid Laser Serum, we are launching two new Liquid Laser products in 2015… One on January 4th and the other in March when it will be our 10th Anniversary on Le Q! (TEN years!! Where does the time go??)

Taylor Nikki

Can't wait to hear more about these new products x

Cathy Winsall

Fab..I will go and get the Vitamin C now and wait til Jan for the new laser...because Im nearly at the end of my laser now

Sharon Harvey

Oh how fantastic! The new products sound amazing!!!! X

Tom Ogden

Hi Louisa. It's OK to use Liquid Gold on teenagers, but only on the areas of scarring and I would only use it a couple of times a week. You don't want to over-stimulate as a teenage skin is stimulated enough already (thanks to those pesky hormones!!) Our Balancing & Pore Refining Mask is also great to use on the youngsters  Tx

Louisa Doyle

Thanks tom merry Christmas

Louise Taylor

What salon are you based at? Would love to come for a facial x

Sharon Harvey

Sounds like a plan...x

Sharon Harvey

Final questions! 10 minutes of web chat left

Tom Ogden

Haha! Sharon! Let's see… 'Last Christmas' by Wham is my favourite Xmas song (showing my age!) Favourite tipple would be a nice glass of Port (though my nan used to mix a mean Snowball!) and favourite game…mmm…probably seeing the whole family try ski-jumping on the Wii!!! My sister never managed to actually get off the end without turning into a rolling snowball! Hilarious

Taylor Nikki

What's the best product for firming the jawline please Tom x

Sharon Harvey

Hahahahaha! I love a snowball!!! Both in the Glass and on the Wii Christmas just wouldn't be right without Wham

Tom Ogden

Hi Louise! I'm more of a rover these days, but I am bringing two lovely therapists to Beauty Bash so maybe we'll be able to get you onto the beauty bed there  Tx

Tom Ogden

Nikki, I'd have to say the Liquid Gold Intensive Night Repair Serum. The combination of Matrixyl-6 and Niacinamide has a great lifting effect Tx

Tom Ogden

You're my kinda girl Sharon

Tom Ogden

Yep Debbie! Michelle and I will be waiting for you at 19.00. You can sell it out while we have a lie down

Michael James Hamlyn

Eeek, sorry to have missed tonight's chat... Been visiting my neighbour with her pressies xxx If it's not to late Tom, I'd love to know a bit more the difference between the Triple cleanser and Balancing cleanser? Micro cleanse is my essential and want to add one of those to my routine xx

Cathy Winsall

I am still using the liquid gold night serum from August. Two pumps when Im not using liquid gold...talk about economic!

Tom Ogden

Hi Michael! Bet you had a sneaky sherry with the neighbour

Taylor Nikki

Thanks Tom will pop it on my list x

Tom Ogden

Re. the difference between the cleansers Michael, the Triple Action is better for a slightly more normal-oily skin. It's gel based (though still non-detergent) and just leaves the skin a bit more squeaky clean. It's also great to shave with. I have quite a lot of clients who switch to Triple Action in the warmer months OR who use it in the morning with the Balancing Cleanser at night  Hope that helps and have a lovely Chrimbo!

Tom Ogden

Waste not want not Cathy!

Tom Ogden

I think I turn into a pumpkin in three minutes. Any final questions??

Jan Penn

Tom, what can we expect in the tsv Hun??

Back to You webchat Q&A with Debbie Flint 22nd December 2014

Debbie how are you? Here's my question... Considering you work at QVC and have the most stunning brands available to you...do friends and family struggle knowing what to buy you for Christmas?

Sonia Morley - What will you be having for Christmas dinner ? Would love to know, I am trying to follow your example and be dairy free to free me from my asthma attacks . Have a wonderful day whatever you do xxx

Claire Louise - Looking forward to back to you returning what's the chance of receipe to share and also Jill franks to some exercise programme s in January x x

Amy Wall - Debbie when you get some REAL time out of your busy schedule what do you enjoy doing other than writing your fab novels and supporting us all on our journeys. That is if there is any time left!!!!!!!! xx

Debbie Flint - am here! Ok who's  first...

Joan Scott - Hello Debbie, just wanted to thank you for all your hints, tips and advice you have given us over the last year. What are your 3 desert island beauty products? X

Debbie Flint - Sharon - bless ya! ok, yes they do. Big Time - in fact just tonight my pal said exactly that as she gave me a little bag of my pressies she'd bought 'in stages whenever she saw something unusual!' My son got me helicopter flying voucher from groupon - lol! It's that sort of thing nowadays which i'm more interested in really - experiences and so forth. Always good fodder for the TiFFT club lol (try it for the first time club) x

Debbie Flint - hahah Sonia Morley! good question! Well we did an early xmas dinner with my daughter's veggie BF doing the food and he cooked the most amazing nut roast together with a mushroom wellington. BUT i do like lots of veg - i'm having a brussels phase atm - lolol - good job i live alone! x haha x

Debbie Flint - Sonia - has being dairy free helped so far? I really have to look out for what sauces and soups are cooked in now too - i had something the other day and started wheezing about half an hour later! lol x

Dawn Robinson - Hello Debbie xx do you have any special plans for 2015  xx

Nicki Bailey - Hi Debbie!! Loved your novels. Must say you are looking fab!!! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Love all your hints tips and advice! Xx

Jacqueline Jackson - Evening all. Hi Debbie I really love your hair and just wondered if you've always worn it long? I had mine long for years and cut it short a few months ago and now really regret it. Am trying to grow it again. Thank goodness for Ken paves and his Hairdo range! Stops me looking like a scarecrow lol. x

Sue Stewart - Sprouts are my twin granddaughter's favourite veg at the moment. They are 8 years old. In fact 9 on the 30th December. Imagine my poor daughter with two of them eating them.

Debbie Flint - Claire - I am looking forward to the new run of shows too hon - very much! I know so many people have been asking about when Bodyblade is back on air and also about when my book will ever be on air. Bruce is back on 12th Jan I can tell you that much atm! ANd as for exercises, not sure what you'd like Jill to do? But Marie Marie-Françoise Wolff 's sis Christianne Wolff is going to be our guest on webchat early Jan but it wont be a Monday as she teaches, we will keep you informed! THere will be other exercise based items, news and products too! A very exciting series is being lined up! x

Gemma Drake - Debbie Flint! Which brand of fish oils do you take ? Your book has really interested me.....

Amy Wall - I love sprouts so much can't get enough. Fortunately I've only got my pooch who has to put up with the outcome and she doesn't mind haha!!!!

Debbie Flint - Joan!" Arrrghj! Cant do three! That's torture! But i can tell you what's in my handbag right now - ok, liplift - I think that's always going to be number one, to be honest. Best thing ever for my occasional cracked lips and for plumping - have used it for nearly 14 years since Alison Young told me to try that on my corners of my mouth and i think it's helped the lack of lines around my top lip too. Then - ooo - hard one - in handbag is loccitane cherry handcream (some sort of handcream is essential of course) and abc tea tree stick - there! x

Christine Perry - Hi Debbie you are looking so........ slim are you using a product from QVC?

Amy Wall - I agree Debbie about lip lift. I have thin lips and can't believe after all these years I have finally found something that not only keeps them moist but also plumps them up. Great product x

Debbie Flint - Dawn - ooooo yessss!!!! One trip I just can't say anything about right now but it's unlike anything i've ever done, It's work related but which work...?!! hahaaa! Plus i'm sooo excited about the launch of my first bookshops book via ;'my' publisher Choc Lit - lots more writing too. ANd another trip to LA - i loved it there so much! ARE you? Anyone going anywhere really unusual in 2015? x

Claire Morley - I love lip lift. Can't be without it!!

Debbie Flint - Nicki - oooo so glad Nick - which one did you like best? one of the Hawaiian steamy romances? Or Diary of a Wannabe? And am very pleased all the tips are working - which do you like most? x

Debbie Flint - Jacqueline - Oh I SO agree! Both about the hairpieces and about having short hair! I had it just shorter than shoulder length once in the mid 2000's but hated hated hated it! Just been to my hairdresser Kay in Dare, Dorking high st today as it happens - she does the most amazing colour! If my hair's not right I don't feel right. But I also swear by dry shampoos - our Percy and Reed one is what i bought when we no longer stocked the amazing Ojon one - still trialling! x

Sharon Harvey - I LOVE Percy n Reed dry shampoo! It's amazing for adding volume when styling

Debbie Flint - Awwww bless, Sue - your granddaughters sound very switched on! Or your daughter does, she must cook the sprouts really nicely for the girls to like eating them! It wasn't always the case for us and they only ever appeared at Christmas in the old days didn't they? Along with satsumas, and cox's apples if i remember right? Anyone else got memories of xmas foods from years gone by which only surfaced at yuletide? x

Debbie Flint - Gemma - OMG they are a panacea IMO, and also in the opinion of Dr Alex Richardson - she's my guru - the Oxford professor who did the original Durham School trials that began the whole omega 'thing' - do go to her website 'Food and behaviour research ' -= or FABresarch.org - to read up on it all - she's amazing. x And so are EPA and DHA fish oils! (or equivalent if you're a veggie) x

Christine Perry - Turkey dripping on toast in the days before we knew fat was so bad for you lol

Sonia Morley - Hello Debbie lovely to have you chatting to us tonight and thank you for answering my question  yes I do think dairy free is making a difference I have felt better lost weight as well , I never thought I had a problem with dairy but when Marlene mentioned it for my asthma I remembered you saying about cheese and latte in your book and thought could that be me, for years I have wondered why I wake up in the morning really bad but why I haven't been out ! It hasn't happened since I cut the milk, cheese yoghurt I am getting more and more used to it but it is initially a shock ! But thank you so much if this is a big trigger for me you will have changed my life with your book and back to you group

Debbie Flint - Gemma - sorry hon didn't answer which ones - any with at least 750mg per tablet of EPA (actual EPA - check label) otherwise there are good liquid oils too. Ideal Omega is what i get x

Jacqueline Jackson - Happy Christmas Debbie to you and your family. Looking forward to the new Back to you shows. x

Amy Wall - Have I missed your reply Debbie. It was about the third ? X

Debbie Flint - Christine Perry -= you betcha!! leg master one min a day for bum lifting, and bodyblade for everything else - it's amaaaaazing! Plus of course my Freedom eAting system as in Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 - the 'When' Diet, on amazon in eBook or paperback (but anyone wanting it pls read the free sample first! |Or more info about all this on my website www.debbieflint.com

Dawn Robinson - What colour do you use on your hair ? I keep looking in boots but nothing looks as nice xx

Debbie Flint - Amy - not just me then! I literally cant be without it and have some dotted around the house/car/work/bags! x

Debbie Flint - Claire - haha - great minds!! x

Debbie Flint - Sharon - yes! Dry shampoos are also fab for floppy fringes too! x

Christine Perry - Thanks for your reply. It has been good to chat. Hope you have a merry Xmas + look forward to the next chat .

Debbie Flint - turkey dripping, Christine! I remember all the chickens always having the giblets inside in little bags - where have they gone to nowadays? lol x

Debbie Flint - ps not that i ate them - well mum, cooked chicken livers but the rest got cooked, picked then given to dogs! x

Claire Morley - Apart from the Bodyblade shows, do have any real favourite shows to do?

Debbie Flint -  Aw Sonia it means so much to hear you say that. Listen, other people;s advice has changed my life, and that of my kids, over the years, so why not pass it on and share the love! lol x My pleasure. Now it's getting used to permahabits right? making all the tweaks and changes regular behaviour and par for the course! x

Amy Wall - Debs I meant the question at the beginning of the chat about spare time x

Debbie Flint - Sorry Amy - am on work pc - forgot my laptop cord - this screen needs to be refreshed so anyone spotting a missed question, do remind me!

Debbie Flint - ok amy so in my 'spare' time I just do the usual stuff and see loads of family and friends and try to do new things i've never done before - the Try it For The First Time club or TiFFT - has been an eye opener for me! This year I've done a walk on on a hit musical (happy Days), indoor skydiving, got a publishing deal and so so much more! Am doing a end of year blog about it all! Apart from that er.... you prob know the rest as I post and blog about it so much! lol x

Joan Scott - A HUGE thank you Debbie for being such a great cyber friend. Wishing you and yours a wonderful Christmas and I hope 2015 brings you much joy and happiness, xxxxxxx

Debbie Flint - Dawn - sori Dawn it's a hairdresser colour - [email protected] always pointing people towards Dare hairdressers in Dorking high st - ask for Kay and she happily gives people the info they need to give their hairdressers! x

Bodyblade Bruce Webchat Mon 22nd December 2014!

Hello Bodyblade Ohana! I thought I heard Santa saying HO HO HO but when I listened more closely....he said Perma-habits Perma-habits Perma-habits!! We are in the final stretch before Christmas and I want to hear how you are doing tonight.

Sue Stewart Mele Kalikimaka Bruce. The perma habit has come along quite nicely thank you very much. I am bodyblading 3 times a week now. I love the beach one with you and Debbie Flint. It makes me smile while I'm doing the excersing. I feel that I'm letting myself down if I don't do it. Xx

9 hrs · Like

Arline Jackson - Just got mine, so first little session today !

Sharon Harvey fantastic! Thanks Bruce xx

Bruce Hymanson Hello all. Happy Christmas to you!

Bruce Hymanson We are in the home stretch for the year. Lots of yummy food but when you keep up with exercise and staying fit, it all seems to fall in place doesn't it?

Sharon Harvey Happy Christmas Bruce! Isnt Cristmas wonderful x

Debbie Flint enjoy Bruce! Welcome and happoy christmas!! HAve a good chat - i'm over on the facebook group 'Back to You QVC' Tom Ogden from Alpha H skincare so do come join us till 9 everyone once you've chatted with lovely Bruce about Bodyblade! x

Bruce Hymanson The weather today in L.A. is a comfortable 70 degrees, perfect for a beach workout. Are you all doing our MDR beach workout?

Sue Stewart Yes 3 times a week. Love these type of short bursts of excersing.

Jacqueline Jackson Hi Bruce. Happy Christmas to you and your family. Still happily Bodyblading. My coordination in my non dominant arm has vastly improved just as you said it would and I now also do the stretches in between each exercise which I love. It really is great fun so thanks again for being such a genius! x

Bruce Hymanson More and more studies are coming out to document the value of short workouts to boost your metabolism, increase cardiovascular fitness and lubricate the joints. Best of all, this also helps decrease the incidence of cardiovascular disease.

Bruce Hymanson Any questions this evening on the workout, driving technique, stance, anything at all

Sue Stewart You need to make another short burst video so we can have a choice

Sharon Harvey HI Bruce.....is it possible to overuse the Bodyblade in one session? How long is the optimum amount of time we should spend? x

Bruce Hymanson Hi Sue, that sounds like a good idea. I will think about the next workout to post for everyone.

Sue Stewart That sounds great Bruce.

Bruce Hymanson You can not overuse the Bodyblade because you have to keep up with the rapid change in direction (4.5 times per second.) once you begin to fatigue, you lose your ability to coordinate and you automatically stop.

Bruce Hymanson I know this was an incredibly short chat this evening. We are all very busy running around, shopping and getting ready for the holiday with our families. I think it is important to remember why it's so important to take care of ourselves. To live a healthy long life for our loved ones. Children, husbands, wives, brothers and sisters and our dear friends. It starts with you first. Just a little attention to your health and wellness will pay huge dividends throughout the year. I want to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and healthy new year. I look forward to our next chat and being in the U.K. for Jan visit. Bye for now!

Sharon Harvey We look forward to welcoming you back Bruce! Thank you for joining us this evening! Wishing you and your wonderful family a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy & Happy New Year xx

Susan Buckland I'am so sorry I missed bruce to night a merry Christmas Bruce and family and a happy new year too.

Published in Back to You

Wow! What a week! Some fabulous TiFFT’s (Try it for the First time club) and some great feedback about my weight loss book Till the Fat Lady Slims. We met up with our lovely Back to You ladies from the facebook group at QVC to do some filming for the new series, and it’s generally been a lovely sunny week – metaphorically as well as literally! BRING ON that vitamin D! lol.

Plus the Monday Essay, the all-important Psychology of Christmas.

Back to You get Together

Fab fun this week, meeting up with six of the girls who responded to my request for people to come in and say how Back to You shows and groups have helped over the past year. Well done to the following – our very own ‘supersix’ – who are pictured at the top in the QVC café having our lunch, in between makeup and being interviewed for videos to be shown during the upcoming new run of Back to You on QVC – Mondays in January. Tons of fabulous products to help your feeling of well being – that’s what the group is all about! Again, facebook group links are below.

Hi to Jill Dowding Walker, on the right, Karen Davies, Janie Smith, Marcella Guglielmucci, Samantha Pike, my lovely pal and admin volunteer Sharon, plus the wonderful Anne Keating.

Well done all! Roll on January 5th!

This week’s Q&A was the long awaited Q&A with lovely Will and Charlie from Charlie Bears – they were our guests on the webchat this week! Yay! Record breaking amount of comments too! Fab. See bottom of this blog for what happened.

Big December Competition – it’s is now available on my recent QVC blog – it includes a Bodyblade as a prize!

Meanwhile, another amazingly wonderful and rewarding post on Till the Fat Lady Slims facebook group from a lady called Hilary, who is clearly thrilled that she’s managed to succeed where all else failed her in the past. I love reading these – it makes my day!

(join Till the Fat Lady Slims group and ‘like’ the page for regular ‘tip of the day’ updates to help you on your way.)

For most people TTFLS works.  Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet, (click here – paperback or eBook on Amazon!) Find out why Freedom Eating principles make such sense.

Here’s that lovely comment online from Hilary this week on Facebook:

"I have waited a while to post but am now ready. I have completely changed my philosophy around food thanks to TTFLS . I started whenDebbie Flint started the group and have now lost 17lb. I thought I was eating quite healthily before but could not shift an ounce. I have brought my 19 year old daughter up to basically freedom eat. I spoke to a slim colleague about 20 years ago and she said she eats only when she is hungry and stops when she feels satisfied. I struggled to get family not to encourage my daughter to finish off her plate of food - I used to say "how do you know what is the right portion size for her" but I really thought it was too late for me. I believed that once you had lost the ability to recognise in advance when you had eaten enough, then that was it. Years of messing with my metabolism with everything from Cambridge Diet to Slimming World and Weightwatchers had taken its toll. I can now see that it is never too late. I have been body blading too and doing steps rather than lifts. I have around 10lb to go but am now getting into clothing that was far too snug. I do not want to be thin, just a realistic, manageable weight.
Merry Christmas all and don't be afraid of it. Enjoy and do NOT beat yourselves up if you slip up. This is a lifestyle choice not a race to the finish. PS Debbie, I have left a review on Amazon for you." hilary Parsons, 'Till the Fat Lady Slims' Facebook group, 15th December.

Am so proud of how my book is helping people.

Stand by for some big news on a very special edition hopefully coming in January - almost a year's worth of hard work and the big moment is nearly here!

Hula Hooping Hooray!

At last! At our family ‘do’ on Sunday, as we were clearing up, my niece Becky brought out her recently acquired hula hoop for all to try. Now I’ve never been good at this. I’ve not been able to move it fast enough to stay up. HOWEVER, thanks to lovely, lovely Bodyblade and it’s strengthening effect on my core, I did it! I can’t tell you how chuffed I was! Here’s the moment –

Bodyblade is back on 12th January – just under 4 week’s time – so get yours in time for Xmas – just one minute a day could make a difference, believe me. Here’s our popular Bodyblade on the Beach video – the supersix in a splendid setting in LA, where I met up with Bruce this year.

Watch the Supersix Bodyblade routine on Marina Del Ray beach here.

People love it as it explains a lot, together with an exercise and stretching routine. Join ‘Bodyblade QVC’ facebook group for Monday night chats with Bruce!

THE MONDAY ESSAY

The Psychology of Christmas Dieting

It’s a problem – we know it is – but what happens to diets and healthy living before and after Christmas? I don't even need to say it, do I! Bad choices, guilt, panicking, eating more as punishment and starting again tomorrow. It's a pattern we learn early - my family always congratulated each other for 'doing well' if we stuffed our faces with a huge pile of food that might last two days if in normal eating mode. Plus the whole 'I'll start the diet after Xmas,' means for so many of us the whole of yuletide is spent overeating - to 'make it worth it' or to take advantage of the 'free pass' mentality, to take the brakes off eating desserts and sweets and cakes and crips. Whereas really, Xmas is no different to any other time of year - your body still only needs a certain amount of food as fuel. It's treating 'treats' as exactly that - like treasure - which for many of us is our downfall.

Fortunately if by now you've reached the stage of Freedom Eating where even your most coveted food previously, now doesnt ring your bells unless your body hasn't had enough of it or the nutrients that food respresents, you'll understand why TTFLS is so life-changing for so many.

There's a study which examined dieters and non-dieters reactions to tempting xmas foods.  It says 'the dieters had a much more elevated and enduring emotional response to tempting food. The non-dieters also experienced good feelings when stimulated by thoughts of holiday (xmas) food, but their pleasure dissipated rapidly. On the other hand the dieter’s pleasure response showed no sign of dropping off. In other words, the food-rich environment put them in a “hot” state, which not only put them at greater risk of abandoning their dietary goals, but kept them in that “hot” state.' It went on to say that the non-dieters response dropping off helped to keep them normal around food.

That's why FREEDOM EATING WORKS! : - )

As on our Back to You QVC group, 8-9pm Mondays.

Samantha Pike My family love Charlie bears I have Samantha bear my husband has Philip bear (they look cute together) my daughter had izzy panda but my son is called Jenson please please consider his name as he is the odd one out at the moment in our bear family x

Jan Lee Burgess Thanks for taking time to chat with us, I have just started collecting your bears, I have Harris, Aaron and Heaths on his way, I love Balletshoe, are there any plans to make her into a full size bear please xx

Zoe Robins hi Charlie and William Morris, you really do make beautiful bears, I love them,

Charlie do you ever give up on a bear design as it won't go right? and which bears have been your biggest challenges? and which is your personal favourite? which bear in your collection is most cuddled?

Happy Christmas to you both and thanks for the lovely bears.

Lynz Bourne Hi Charlie, and William! Hope you're both well, and sorted for Christmas. My first Charlie Bear was Slothy Joe, my Mum and I were watching QVC and he captured my heart instantly! What inspired you to make him? Thank-you for doing this live chat, it's amazing that you take the time to talk to your fans. Can't wait to see you in April! Huge hugs, Lynz xxxx

Dawn Robinson Hello Will & Charlie x hope you're both well  are you all ready for Christmas ? I can't imagine anything nicer than getting up to a Charlie Bear on Christmas Morning Do you have a particular favourite one ? Xx

Zoe Robins Dawn Robinson, surely for you a Charlie bear and a pot of judith Williams cream

Sarah Cooper Hi Will and Charlie. Bit of a cheeky question here, what is the likelihood of a particular name suggestion ever being made? I suppose what I'm asking is, if you don't like the name, will the bear ever have a chance at being made? I know you like to know the stories behind the name suggestions. And which comes first? Do you design the bear around the name or make the bears and choose a name from a list?

Kathryn White Hi Charlie & Will, any chance of more bears with tinsel in their fur please  xx

William Morris Hi Guys - hope you are all well - I will try to type as quickly as possible xx

Christine Carr Hi Charlie and Will its QVC Christine from Newcastle please please please can you make me a Burma bear im memory of my DAD I have wrote to you many times over the years and we have spoke about his story when we met up in the Lake district and a Christine bear would compleate my family hug xxx

Elaine Coldwell Hello Charlie and Will xxx

William Morris Hi Christine Carr Yes it is still high on the list

William Morris Hi Elaine Coldwell

Christine Carr thank you so much xx

Elaine Coldwell When will the gorgeous Cptn Puddlemaker make an appearance please Will? xxx

William Morris There was a lovely question earlier about things not being right - yes we had tried for a long time to make a plush mouse and it never worked out but we think we have finally cracked it after a few years of waiting

William Morris Puddlemaker will be with us first week of January

Elaine Coldwell Yay wonderful news thank you so much xXx

Sarah Cooper something to spend our xmas money on.

William Morris Hi Kath white Tinsel in the fur is a probable as well we only made a few so a bit more room for that

Kathryn White One called Bethlehem in navy and white tinsel fur please

William Morris Samantha Pike thank you for the suggestion Jenson

Hi Charlie and Will, when you are not busy at the Bearhouse, how do you like to relax and unwind? x

William Morris Charlie likes to Garden Sharon H and believe it or not I like to cook

Rachel Cummings Hi William Morris and Charlie have you every regretted releasing a particular bear ? and if so why ?

Sharon oooooh Fabulous! so gorgeous flowers on the table and a nice home cooked meal! yum whats your signature dish?

William Morris Wow thats a difficult one Rachel Cummings we never regret as its so tough to get in to the collection anyway through Teddy X Factor but sometimes we are sad that we have to limit them to such small numbers

Kathryn White Any spoilers coming up Will

William Morris Signature dish is Creamy garlic mushrooms followed by Wilfys special Moussaka (with no aubergines!!) and for pudding Tiramisu in a brandy snap basket

William Morris Watch QVC on Xmas day I let out a couple of secrets (WHOOPS!)

Teddy x Factor hehe...... "its a no from me" awwwww so sad lol

Kathryn White Great, hope Charlie isn't reading this lol!

Sarah Cooper Which has been your most successful bear mohair and plush? Not counting the secondary market.

Christine Carr I have well over 300 bears in my collection now and I have all of the William bears x

Joanne Monnox Hi Will! please let Charlie know how good it has been to see her back on QVC the last few visits - think we all missed her! When is the next instalment of the book due out? Will it be just plush, or include mohair too? Wishing you both a lovely Christmas, and looking forward to perhaps meeting you both again on your signing tour next year! x

Elaine Coldwell Will be watching and listening! xx

Rachel Cummings Doing Teddy X factor aside is there a bear that you have kept trying with because you knew it would work ?

William Morris Mohair is Cheesecake - and Plush Ross

Jan Lee Burgess Thanks for taking time to chat with us, I have just started collecting your bears, I have Harris, Aaron and Heaths on his way, I love Balletshoe, are there any plans to make her into a full size bear please xx

William Morris Good taste Christine Carr we have met a few times.

Kathryn White Can we have more Bronte and Boo Boo sized bears please, think they are 9" x

Kathryn White Oh and in pastel colour plush please

William Morris Joanne Monnox thank you for your lovely comments Charlie is here sat by my side but she is very slow at typing !! The next catalogue is due to launch in January with Mohair, Minimo and Plush and the next book for 5 to 10 years will be out in 2016

Sarah Cooper Bit of a cheeky question here, what is the likelihood of a particular name suggestion ever being made? I suppose what I'm asking is, if you don't like the name, will the bear ever have a chance at being made? I know you like to know the stories behind the name suggestions. And which comes first? Do you design the bear around the name or make the bears and choose a name from a list?

William Morris Both Sarah Cooper some names just dont suit a bear but then the story comes and it makes it all clear

William Morris Was there a particular name that you would like to share Sarah Cooper

Joanne Monnox Thanks Will! Sounds like there's a lot to look forward to next year! x

Sharon y Charlie...... dig him in the ribs x

Sharon oooohhhh now theres a name..... Ribs hahahaha

Elaine Coldwell We are really looking forward to the signing events next year and your 10 Year Anniversary whooo hooo. Are you both excited? xxx

William Morris Ribs Digged

Claire Morley Great to see Charlie back. I hope she's fully recovered now. I love your bears and love watching you both on QVC xx

Sarah Cooper I have several, but Shani is the one I most want. She is the border collie in my profile picture. She was the most amazing dog anyone could have. I've not had a great year with my health and she was my reason to keep going. I lost her in April and I can't say how much I miss her.

Claire Morley That's a lovely name Sarah x

William Morris REALLY EXCITED I think we are travelling nearly 30000 miles in total to all the events but we meet so many interesting characters some of which have been around since the early days - in fact a lot of people on this thread that its like meeting old family members

William Morris Shani is on the list Sarah Cooper thankyou its a lovely name

Sarah Cooper thank you

Claire Morley Will you be doing any around the Shaftesbury/ Salisbury area?

Christine Carr We have met many times and you and Charlie have never changed which is lovely. I can remember when I told you the story about my dad and how mum never had a bear when she was little and she is now 84 Charlie was nearly in tears Mum now has tommy on her pillow at bed times and Tommy was my Dads name he is treasured every day x That is why Burma would be so special for us

Rachel Cummings Interesting Character.. LOL been called a few things that one is new.. xx William Morris

Sharon Harvey awwww how lovely to have such a huge following!

William Morris It was a bit easier at signing events in the early days as we used to just mingle around in a shop or school hall but now we have to have staff with us to organise everyone but it means we can have lots of fun too

William Morris you are in interesting character Rachel Cummings

Elaine Coldwell It is always wonderful to meet up and we will bring cake hehe xx

Kathryn White If we can't get to all the signings can we still order them from the stockists?

William Morris Taunton, Corfe or Launceston are the closest events to Shaftesbury claire morley

Sarah Cooper I loved the last Metrocentre event, it was a great day. I'd recommend going to anyone. Is there a theme on the bears again? Any clues?

Corinne Fitzgerald Hi Charlie and Will. So good to have Charlie back and looking fantastic! Really looking forward to the Xmas day TSV. I would love a blue bear called Jim after my dad who was an ardent Chelsea FC supporter and lost his battle with lung cancer in April. My bears have been such a comfort to me. Wishing you both a fantastic Xmas and a healthy and happy 2015. xx

mIchael James Hamlyn As this is an open group I need to be careful of ruining any surprises! Let's just say me and my partner made a pact we wouldn't collect the Bears as it would be a slippery slope... (We have the Forrest friends minus Nippy Noo and Linus) but so many are so adorable... So I may have just broken this rule!

Thank you so much for all the joy you give with your amazing friends!

I was born and grew up in Holsworthy - Had no idea you guys where based so close until recently! Do you ever open your doors to the public?

Thanks again for what you do and for joining us tonight xx

Claire Morley Ok, thanks. I'll see if I can get to one. I presume dates etc. are on your website? x

William Morris you just said the magic CAKE word to Charlie elaine

elaine Coldwell Awww hi lovely Charlie xxx

Lynne Sneddon Hi Will and Charlie, you would make my son's day /year if one day you would consider making a bear named LOUKAS because he has never been able to find his name with the correct spelling on anything and he adores bears. He is 7 years old and has a microdeletion of one of his chromosomes which meant he never spoke properly until he was about 5 and a teddy was his companion when he had to meet new people when he couldn't speak. He knows speaks quite well thanks to speech therapy

Christine Carr Its fantastic that Charlie is now on the mend she is an amazing lady and very special to us all and of course you as well Will lol xx

William Morris Hi Corinne Fitzgerald very sorry to hear about Dad Charlie has added this to the name file

Corinne Fitzgerald Thank you.

William Morris michael - we used to be based at Tetcott just down the road - we dont have a shop at the moment but the museum will open in Launceston on Charlies Birthday 20th June

William Morris Lynne sneddon thank you for the suggestion for Loukas - Please remember if possible to send an email with a little story and picture to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Joanne Monnox How is the much anticipated museum progressing, Will? Is it still on schedule to open next year? Really hoping to come down for a visit! x

Lynne Sneddon Thanks, will send an email. Merry Christmas to you and Charlie and all the bear family

William Morris Hi Joanne Monnox yes 20th June - Charlie has way WAY overspent on the budget so Ive got to save my pennies a bit more

Sarah Cooper Can I ask a daft question? What exactly will be in the Museum? Are these the prototype bears?

William Morris Handing you over to Charlie to type

Sarah Cooper Hi Charlie.

William Morris hi Sarah yes there will be every bear we have made to date living there so quite a lot to look at

Sharon Harvey hi Charlie how are you xx

Margo Rimmer Charlie has made my grandson so happy she made Aidan bear. And she made a Hamish bear after my dad died to keep my mum company. Hope you and Charlie have the best Xmas xx

Sharon Harvey fantastic.......who has the biggest stocking full of presents at Christmas? and aside from Bears (sorry) what do you love to collect, xx

Joanne Monnox Can't wait to see what Charlie has blown the budget on!  Not too long to wait! x

Debbie Flint Hey you two! Glad you're having fun on here! Have the boys recovered from my Bearhouse takeover on the production line...!? X

Debbie Flint Lol

william Morris hi sharon williams stocking is always bigger than mine as his socks are bigger

Margo Rimmer He is ten now and Rhys 5. Mum was fightening the dreaded C along with you and she fought it again. Xx

Debbie Flint Pics on my recent qvc blog btw. Was a fab day. And I just heard today I will be moving my hours on New Years Eve and doing your Charlie Bears show at 8ish? Live phone in again? X

Sharon Harvey Haha Charlie......use a Duvet... sew your name on it ... hang it up and smile

Rachel Cummings Sharon Harvey don't encourage him ... he would as well ... full of sweets too I bet HAHAHAHA

Samantha Billingham Hi William and Charlie. Hope your both well. Ive never met you so would like to take this oppurtunity to say thank you for making such wonderful, special bears. I always remember as a child loving bears and when my friends all had dolls I always had a ...See More

Tina Oldfield Hi charlie and will hope you have a lovely Christmas, and thank you for making so may great bears. I was so made up the other day when my partner found Kyle bear to join my ever growing hug

William Morris i had never thought of that sharon what a fab idea

Bruce's Bodyblade webchat 8pm Monday 15th

Next week, it's Alpha H and Tom Ogden! The weekend after – 29th  December – it’s your turn to share your own Back to You tips from the year on our fabulous facebook group.

Published in Back to You

What an idiot. Those automatic parking telephone lines in car parks are great nowadays, right? Save you loads of time? Hmmm.

So I took my own car in to be serviced, got the courtesy car and went shopping. Parked in the usual place, paid by phone in the usual way and when I got back, there was a parking ticket, bold as yellow brass, sitting on my windscreen. What had I done? Autoparked my own flipping car instead of the loan one! Grrrr!

Anyway, if you've got a lot on your mind this season, blame the time of year. Not old age, or scattiness... honest! Lol!

The blogs are complete this week, if you'd like to go have a read. Thing is with my QVC one, I don't get many comments left any more - I know I'm on Facebook and Twitter a lot, true. Therefore I'm more accessible, but it's still lovely when I see some pop up on my QVC blog so do feel free. This week's includes a funny video in Charlie's dressing room, with Alison Young - yes really! lol. And a teaser of Mally too. To see that and lots of music performances including Sam Bailey, Il divo etc clips, great xmas gift book bargains and some funnies from last week on air - click here to see the blog.

This Friday's is a biggie - my Friday QVC blog will have all the info about my new mahoosive Xmas competition prize of some Laura Geller, some Liz Earle, two of my books, a JW EDP Phytomineral perfume and ... a Bodyblade! Whoop! It'll be out Friday not right now, but when it's posted you'll find it here.

Had fun again on our fab supportive facebook group with the Back to You webchats, this week they were all about Nono and Judith Williams products, and some fascinating features about how the Mediterranean Diet is being proven once again to be one of the most healthy in the world. Check out the info relating to statins on a new study. Plus how most of us don't eat for hunger - emotions and habits get in the way. It's very interesting - check it out here.

Oh, and if you'd like a new Christmassy theme book, my lovely Devon writing pal has a new anthology - 'The Mistletoe Run' - based on a true story. Go here to see it on Amazon. Do you read only festive style books in December? Let me know - you can just 'reply' as it'll go to me (or my 'elves') not to a spambot! lol.

And thanks to those of you who have contacted me direct with huge outpourings of support and thanks this week for all the stuff I do, it makes it all worthwhile, believe me.

Now I've got a final little bit of insider knowledge to tell you - there will be one every week from now on - and it's a new SHORT story I've been working on. It's called 'Twelve Dates of X-mas.' Can you guess what it's about? If I get it done in time, it'll be a freebie over Xmas itself as my little pressie to everyone who has a Kindle or Kindle app. I'm just working on some loose ends then it's all steam ahead. Do tell a friend to subscribe to my newsletter to get the latest updates about when it's ready! Just go here and click on the pop up if they - or you - haven't already

So anyway - this weekend, I'll be doing the tree and the decs - when do you do yours?

Best wishes and big hugs.

This week - Doing a new super6 workout video in Marina Del Ray! What a lovely week I had in LA! Bruce met me with two bodyblades and off we went, recording a new video – with stretches in between. In other news, how fast is your brain? Take the quiz! Also the Monday Essay… When East meets West – an inspiring story of recovery.

Bodyblading on the beach

Well some people roller blade, and others skateboard, but Bruce and I were there on Marina Del Ray beach, Bodyblading! It’s called ‘Mother’s Beach,’ and we went for a drink nearby in Jamaica Inn Hotel afterwards (see main QVC blog from Friday 14th for pics.) But the main point of the meet up was to video a little Super6 workout – the 6 one minute exercises on his ingenious invention which really do strengthen and tone your whole body. This one has movement in between too! So here it is – have a quick look and use this link whenever you want to do it along with us, to give you a bit of variety from the other ones we’ve done!

It was really fun meeting Bruce and also going to dinner with him and his lovely wife Carrie. He had some interesting points to make regarding ongoing exercise, or permahabits as we like to call them. See bottom of this blog for a summary of his Q&A from this evening’s webchat on the ‘Bodyblade QVC’ Facebook group – and see if you can do the ‘lost 10lb in ten minutes’!

TTFLS update

In case you didn’t know, there’s a (almost) daily Tip of the Day for TTFLS* people, on the PAGE (click here to ‘like’ the page.) Here’s one –

“Tip of the Day #19-
Remember a blip is a blip. It's not a change forever. If a blip happens, think, 'hmm, I wonder why I did hat?' And let it go. Work out why it happened so it won't become a permanent thing, but let it go. If a slim person has a thick milkshake, they will eat less dinner afterwards. Non freedom-eaters will have a thick shake, then punish themselves for the rest of the night, forcing food down their throats, feel terrible, and all because of a thought in their brain. Nothing to do with their body or what it needs.
Listen to your body, trust it, give it a chance. And learn from a blip.”

Do go read if it helps any – and if you have some of your own tips, do feel free to add them – it’s a fabulous supportive community that’s for sure! And if you haven’t got my semi-autobiographical weight loss book, updated for 2014 yet, the link to the book *Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet, is here – paperback or eBook!

Heard this week from Anne K who was rightfully proud of herself too – she posted this week on Facebook on B2U group –

“I've done many diets previously and given up after a few weeks or months. This time the doctor told me I had to lose half a stone by the beginning of December. I had decided to go to Slimming World when I saw Debbie's book mentioned on I'm a QVCUk Queen page. I've found it is the extra motivation I need to keep going - and even when I get to my target weight (which I have never done before) I know it has given me the basis for a new way of looking at food and of eating. It fits in with Slimming World which allows you to eat as much as you like of the healthy foods I need for Type 2 diabetes - and Debbie's book shows me how to know when to stop when I've had sufficient. A double whammie!”

I told Anne and the other ladies on that strand how proud I was of them all and it is indeed getting used to being different around food, not a temporary ‘on a diet’ only to come ‘off a diet’ – this is setting up - what? Permahabits!

Keep up the comments and updates on the groups, everyone! And keep me informed personally if you like by emailing me This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

THE MONDAY ESSAY

Karen’s Miracle Recovery – Twice Over

Really interesting story this week from a pal of my host in LA, painter Karen. She’s a breast cancer survivor with a very interesting outlook on life.

First to let you know, she’s very aware, like I am, of food as cause, food as cure, for many of the common ills humans endure. However, when she first got breast cancer, she refused to go for western medicine, refusing to give in to it, insisting she would deal with it ‘later.’ Her reason was a tragic one – she’d lost many relatives via cancer, and seen them die more as a result of the treatment, than through the disease itself. However, things came to a head in around 2004.

‘I’d felt the lump in my left breast get bigger, to the point that I could almost see it breaking the skin. Basically my doctor said I had to be operated on immediately, followed by chemo or radiation. I just didn’t want to undergo that treatment because of what I’d seen it do to my sisters and mum. The doctor did an MRI and it showed that the lump in my left breast developed to such an extent that it had it’s own substantial blood supply, and now I’d also got a small lump in my right breast. I was devastated, but still resilient. The doctor said I simply must go in for treatment on Monday – I said no, I’ve booked a trip to Europe for three weeks, and I’m going. So despite protests, off home I went. But that night, my best pal gave me a lecture on nutrition and told me about some incredible turnarounds in people who adopted strict macrobiotic principles (like Vegan with no wheat and no sugar, plus eastern extras like sea vegetables, miso soup, special soy sauces, special mushroom dishes and an emphasis on grains.) She gifted me everything I needed to eat macrobiotically on my trip – quite an impossible task in France had I not taken it all with me – rice cooker, brown rice, miso, seaweeds etc. No dairy, no meat, no wheat, no sugar. Well, three weeks later, after I returned from my holiday, back I went for my surgery. The doctor did an MRI again just prior to surgery so they could ascertain where to operate.

She called me into her office and sat me down. Unbelievably, the MRI scan showed something amazing. Not only had the lump in the right breast disappeared, but the big one on the left had halved, including having half the blood supply. So off I went ecstatic that destiny had given me the chance to prove I could face this thing and solve it my way - determined to continue my journey with food.’

Now Karen is a 64 year old active, single, mum of three, living in LA with a busy group of media friends and is down to earth and very, very normal. She told me how after that, she continued to research the amazing difference nutrition can make to health. And accepting the option to take part in non-chemo trials. This included being on a three month medical trial in New York in a retreat, where inmates are given a section of a fridge to keep their food in. She was annoyed that not only were doctors not telling any of the participants to avoid certain foods, they were largely not eating any fresh foodstuffs at all. There was plenty of room in the produce drawers and she went out and filled hers, and many other drawers that were empty since most participants were buying ready frozen meals and bad treats etc. She bought all kinds of veggies and a few fruits and then made herself juices every day – wheatgrass, spirulina, much green stuff etc. (She’d tried the macrobiotic diet, the Gerson diet and raw food diet too, and had much knowledge about nutrition, entirely self-taught.) Now whilst she was standing there making the juices each day, people would come in and talk to her, and she ended up explaining about foods and how they can cause or cure many conditions. Lots of people wanted to continue asking her advice after the trial and it led to her setting up her own business as a consultant on wellness.

But after a while she knew that, whilst a big part of it, nutrition was not the whole solution.

Whilst you can alkalize your body with foods, mainly vegetables, it’s also true that in a heartbeat, in the blink of an eye, you can also make your body acid with emotions – getting angry for instance – they don’t say ‘he’s filled with bile’ when someone’s livid, for no reason – (google it to find out more about how emotions can lead to dis-ease within the very fabric of your body.) And she knew she had some work to do. She became Buddhist and her beliefs helped lead her to the next stage of her amazing story.

By early 2014, she was starting to get angrier and angrier with the establishment – all these people not being told about how nutrition could help cut their symptoms and aid recovery. She was an active painter, she by now had three grown up children and was part of a great support network of friends and allies. She began to feel tired and ached a lot, and knew there was something wrong again. Her breast cancer had reared up again and spread. She was keeping healthy, she’s slim, and exercises daily, chants and eats really well. But within herself, she had what she now realises was a prejudice. Not the run of the mill kinds, but a prejudice against authority and the medical profession – in particular western medicine. Her doctor showed her the PET scan of her body – in early Summer 2014, the full body scan lit up like a Christmas tree. Every white light represents bone metastases – cancer – in the spine, the shoulders, the joints, all over - apart from the brain and the heart which are supposed to be white,

For many that means a death sentence and her doctor told her she had better rally her family around. Her pain was extreme and she was unbelievably tired. She couldn’t believe it. After all she’d been through.

So she talked to her friend who was a senior Buddhist and she observed that Kate was carrying a prejudice against Western medicine and that she can’t be carrying that and have full power. So Kate worked out that it was time to make her peace with it and by dropping that prejudice, she had far more choices available to her. East and West really can live side by side and different things work for different people.

Back at her doctor’s, she was told that she had a particularly aggressive type of cancer called ‘Her2 positive’ , which only affected 15% of cancer sufferers. But the good news was that it was able to be treated by something that was not chemotherapy – a new drug called Herceptin. But first her insurance company would usually expect her to go through surgery, then radiation and only then would she be able to be given the $17,000 dollar, extortionately expensive shots of Herceptin.

She said ‘I asked my doctor if I could just go straight to the Herceptin. She said she doubted that the insurance company would accept the paperwork. But ironically it was just before July 4th independence day holiday and if I got the paperwork in quickly, with it marked ‘urgent’ maybe, just maybe, they’d process it without too much extra info being needed. That Monday she called and told me they’d approved it, and to get straight in to have the first shot.

Herceptin isn’t a drug that makes you lose your hair, or become weak, dry mouthed, etc. It’s an antibody.

Nine weeks and three shots later, I went back in for another PET scan. The doctor called me in and looked incredulous. She then showed me the second scan of my body. The cancer had gone in the bones and the breast tumour was reduced by 75%.

I’m now on a maintenance programme and watch what I eat, but also am full of surviving spirit – pioneering spirit – and belief that the body is an amazing miracle worker, if you give it the right support and tools to make the changes it needs to make itself. If a person in a white coat tells me ‘x will happen to you,’ I don’t believe it – I think to myself  ‘I’ll prove you wrong, I’ll find a way.’ All these things, and my philosophy of Lotus Sutra Buddhism via Soka Gakkai International-USA, have all helped with my story.

When I go to the hospital, doctors bring other colleagues to see my scans, and discuss my unusual case. And now in the Far East, apparently they are about to conduct the ‘Respect’ trials, on the elderly who wouldn’t survive surgery and radiation, just giving them Herceptin alone. Interesting times.

For anyone wondering about diet and if they should make changes, I’d say go read and study all the info that’s out there - it’s easier now than ever to get access to info that maybe even your own specialist is not aware of. And be insistent. I once asked a doctor about the markers they use in order to decide if someone ‘has cancer’ or is ‘cancer free’ – there is a ‘normal’ range, which they consider cancer-free, and I asked whether that meant they actually still had a degree of normal cancer within their body. He was evasive and said they couldn’t say for sure. Yet if it had been over that ‘normal’ limit he would have been absolutely certain that person had to have harsh treatments and would have told them in no uncertain terms what the expectations were of their prognosis. That didn’t help me in having no confidence in the medical profession, but I am now very grateful to have been given such cast iron evidence of my amazing recovery – in these two scans, nine weeks apart.

I’m very lucky. And I hope others will be as lucky too.’

If anyone else has a similar situation, I’d suggest they research Gerson diets, macrobiotics, raw food diets, Buddhism and meditation, and the Power of Belief alongside whatever specialists’ advice is available for you to consider. More reading is here – Good luck.

-       Biology of Belief – Dr Bruce Lipton – 96 x 5* reviews - are genetic issues really unavoidable? This book cites the example of a schizophrenic who has blue eyes in one personality and they change to brown in another; of a patient who has anaphylactic shock from a dog allergy in one personality, but can sit playing happily with dogs in another personality. And much more besides. It’s belief that plays a powerful role in how your body reacts.

-       Your Life in Your Hands – Dr Jane Plant – 73 x 5* reviews - her own experience of a certain type of breast cancer that responded to a no-dairy diet, and tons of scientific evidence as to why.

-       ‘Dying to be Me’ – Anita Moorjani – 167 x 5* reviews - one woman’s ‘death and back’ experience, a stage 4 cancer sufferer who went into hospital when her organs began to shut down, who experienced an amazing remission following a near death experience - three weeks later, she was recovered so much, she went dancing at a party. These are not supposed to be medical advice, nor are they advocating a course of action, they are merely for information.

Q1. Dawn Robinson -  I've got two questions 1st one is if you could only pick 3 Candles what fragrances would you pick ? 2nd you always look lovely what QVC beauty products do you use ?

A – thank you for your lovely comments - tough question!! I can ony have 3 candles in the world?? eek OKay True Rose - classic floral and reminds me of my wedding day , sandalwood vanilla as sumptuous but snuggly eve fragrance and snow in love for festive freshness….  Its so hard to just picjk one yankee fragrance - that's why \i love them so much becuase you can chop and change. I've got Angels Wings burning this evening but yesterday it was sage and citrus and another day it will be blissfull autumn or fresh cut roses!!

I am a beauty addict and my entire face is courtesy of QVC lol! My make up bag is largely filled by bareminerals, laura geller and mally. We may be able to bring a few more to QVC towards the end of this year but only a small amount were ever made and were officially only sold in the states

Q3 - Pam Merrifield Will there be an electric melt warmer with automatic off switch? I keep forgetting to turn mine off!!!!!

A – there are no plans to put fancy switches and tiers on the electric melt warmers but ed did go to homebase and got switch for a couple of pounds and put that on to my teapot warmer so i could switch it on and off more easily. I too sometimes forget about them so have it also plugged into a timer - you can get them for very little in most DIY stores xx

Q4 – Sue Stewart - Are we getting anymore non stick melts for the tea pot warmer. If not how do we get the wax out with normal melts

A –  sorry about my typing folks ! my mind moves faster than my fingers. Sue I think I have answered your melts question earlier - there were some available on auto delivery but i don't know yet if we have more avaialbe to put on air. The best way to get melts out if stuck is switch on/light your melt warmer for about a minute - just enough time for the ery bottom to melt then turn/blow out and melt will just swish out

Q5 – Julie Anderson - Just wanted to say I love you as a guest on QVC. I'm a Yankee addict, they also make me feel good. Thanks for your work:)) what is your all time favourite fragrance?

A – hi Julie thanks fr your kind comment - I love my work!! I mean I love doing it. All time fave is rose so iether fresh cut roses or true rose

Q6 - Chris Dig N Doug We know your favourites, but what are the lovely Ed's favourites. Bless him he only ever gets mentioned in passing

A – Hi Chris Dig N Doug Ed loves all the vanilla and foodie ones and his all time fave is lemon lavender - which is the only lavender i'm not that keen on!! lol he puts it in the melt warmer when I am not there. he is also a huge fan of christmas cookie, salted caramel and banana nut bread

Q7 – Tiger Kadi Hi Rosa welcome. I adore Yankee candles. Can we have more. Variety on the electric tart burner and also a collection of smaller jars. And plug ins and refills..Thank you.

A - hi Tiger Kadi [amazing name!! x] We are doing more and more electric melt warmers as they are becoming more popular so will keep you posted.we are working hard on gettign plug ins back in stock together with refill. we know you all want them. We often do snall jar gift sets around xmas so fingers crossed more on their way

Q 8 – Linda Bignell Hi Rosa, is there going to be a Yankee TSV before Xmas

A – yes!! very excited about the yankee tsv on 26th November I think our best xmas gift collection yet xxxx

Q 9 – Michael James Hamlyn As many of the lovely ladies and gents here know, I LOVE QVC, and often get starstruck on these chats... But none more so than with you Rosa! You are a hero in our household (My Robbie loves you too!)
Sorry to gush but you are just so knowledgeable, entertaining and hilarious! You are lucky I don't understand Twitter as I would totally be stalking you!
Also while I am here - Thank you thank you thank you for listening to all our feedback. You are probably the best brand for listening to us. The USA exclusives have been AMAZING!
I wish I had a question so I don't look quite so sad...

A - you are utterly charming and thank you so much for your lovely words xx I'm not great on twitter myself stephen is a far more proliffic tweeter than me! We do our best to feedback everything viewers request to the team at yankee hq and I'm glad you are happy with the results x

Q 10 – Micheal – what’s your guilty pleasure?

A –  My guilty pleasure? hmmmm sounds silly but watching tv in bed. Ed bans all screens form the bedroom as he is such a light sleeper so when he is on nights i take the laptop to bed and watch a film and feel really naughty!!

I almost forgot one of my all time faves is Tahitian Tiare Flower i am still saving a small jar

GENERAL –

Ginger dusk is a new launch so i'd like to think it would be around a while but it does depend on how popular it is. if not many people buy a scent they may retire it more quickly to make way for something more people want as we are all always asking them for new fragrances. It does seem to be popular with a lot of people on facebook and twitter though so fingers crossed. I LOVE it - its like a slightly spicier early sunrise

Re Retired fragrances, you quite often find that a new fragrance will be a reimagining of an older retired one. so A child's wish has echoes of beautiful day married with garden hideaway and waikiki melon was a lighter brighter version of mango peach salsa - although in that case MPS won out so maybe something like Greenhouse is out there.

OMG Glenys Phillips get over to www,yankeecandle.co.uk NOW! Greenhouse has just popped up on the special appearances page!!!!

Thank you I have really enjoyed doing this its been lovely to chat. I am a member of the back to you group so you can post questions to me on here whenever you like. My actual facebook profile I keep private as all my close friends and family are on so please don't be offended if I don't accept friend request but chat here and find me on twitter @candlerosa .

Signing off now - thanks for all your kind and lovely comments - looking forward to bringing lots more Yankee gorgeousness to your living room on 26th xxxxxxxxxx night night

TSV ON 26th! 26th i'll be launching at midnight then in the morning show at 9 , midday then 4,6 and 9pm

Caroline Manley – second Webchat – 17th November 2014

Q 1 - Dawn Robinson Hello Caroline x any glues on what the hot colours will be next year ? Xx

A – Hi next year will be very pretty in terms of special effects light florals pale glitters, very delicate and girly! In terms of colour it's very similar - white tone pastals will be huge. Watch this space for our stunning spring kale range!

Q2 – Gayle Metcalfe Hi Caroline Manley I love nails inc and wear it daily! my question to you is about the glitter varnish! Ilove the look but trying to get it off is an absolute nightmare! I use your varnish pots and it just shreds the foam inside! Any tips please as the party season is coming but I can't spend the 30 mins I spent yesterdy trying to get varnish off and i have sooo many nails inc glitters to try! x

A –  Hi Gayle, glitter is amazing and lasts so long without chipping - offset of this is the effort to remove! Few top tips we use in store - if you have a buffer or good grit nail file - lightly buff the surface before removal. This will smooth out the particles so the foam in the pot doesn't rip. Then hold your finger in the pot for a little longer than normal to remove effectively. If you have more time - apply a little piece of cotton soaked in acetone on the nail and wrap your fingers in squares of tin foil. After 10 minutes remove foil and glitter should slip straight off. Lastly try and not load too many layers of glitter on the nail. Our glitter pigment will work in 2 coats for full coverage. Layering coats of glitter, although tempting isn't ideal for removal! Hope this helps! Cx

Q 3 – Dawn Robinson You always look lovely too, What are your favourite QVC beauty products ? X

A – Other than nails inc obviously - I'm obsessed with beauty products and am a huge QVC beauty customer. I can't live without WEN. I'm a total WEN girl - 'friends don't let friends use shampoo!' I also adore Mally volumising mascara - IMHO best on the market! Also anything Josie Maran, Argan Oil infinity cream is a definite makeup bag must have for me. Works for everything - split ends, chapped lips, facial moisturiser - I'm never without a tube.

Q 4 - Sandra Taylor What can I do to stop my nails tearing at the corners. I have never cut my finger nails as they always tear before they get long enough to grow, so van never wear nail varnish.

A – Hi Sandra, try to keep the sides of your nail walls really straight - so no shaping or cutting to create round or oval shape until the free edge of your nail goes past your nail bed. Using cuticle oil twice a day will work really well for you to help eliminate splitting - as your nails need hydration. Also our NailKale superfood basecoat is fantastic for preventing splitting. 79% of customers in our clinical trials found it prevented nail splitting and breakage. Hope this helps Cx

Q 5 – Joy Padley Hi Caroline, any tips for the application of the gel polish? It always streaks when I try to apply especially the lighter ones.

A – Hi Joy, the gel effect first coat should be smooth and streak free. To achieve this immerse brush into the polish and pull out wiping excess polish from one side only! Using the loaded polish side of the brush apply direct to the base coated nail plate, pushing towards the cuticle and pulling back. Once in centre and one on each outer side - so 3 in total is ideal. The less strokes the less streaks will appear. Thanks Cx

Q 6 –  Any tips on painting nails when you have extremely shaky hands

A – Painting nails with shaky hands is a problem so many people have. Make sure you have a table to rest on, always paint your non writing hand first - this makes a huge difference. Load the brush with polish - start in the middle of the nail and push the brush towards the cuticle then pull back. Repeat this step on both outer edges so 3 strokes in total - this should make it easier. Our new bottles also will help as you can remove the silver cap, place on table and use the concave side of the cap to balance each finger you paint - nice trick to add stability. Cx

Q 7 – What do you like doing in your spare time

A – n my spare time, I love to sightsee - I'm living in London 6 years but still find pockets of the city that I've not seen yet or experienced. I also love the theatre - any musical I'm there! This is turn also leads me to equally love any form of karaoke or cheesy music that I can find. Although not a natural dancer I enjoy to think I am!

Q 8 – Michael - What first attracted you to the brand caroline?

A – Hi Michael - well aren't ladies in your life lucky! Coming from a beauty background I was always a nails inc fan, I had a manicure every two weeks for 4 years in my local Nails inc in Cork before I moved to London. Definitely Thea Green our founder was a huge factor in why I joined the brand. She's so inspirational and on the cutting edge in terms of breaking boundaries of what nail polish should be and constantly evolving it. It's amazing to work under a such a wonderful female entrepreneur. I also loved the fashion and nails combination. Why wear the same shade all the time when you can use your nails as a fashion statement. It's the ultimate in affordable on trend luxury and nobody does it better than nails inc!

Q 9 – tell us about nail kale successes!

A – NailKale is amazing Debbie! It's been one of our most successful launches. I think this is because it works for every nail issue. Whether your nails are weak and bendy, peeling, brittle, dull, not growing or ridged - it fixes it all! The amazing kale ingredient which is enriched with iron, protein, calcium and vitamin K will give you super healthy nails. Your polish will last longer and in a matter of days you will see major improvements in your nail issues. Total wonder product! Use it as a treatment in our NailKale superfood base coat or try our NailKale polish shades to experience colour and care in one!

Signing out now - it's 4pm in NY so gotta get back to work! We launched our first US nail bar last week in saks 5th Avenue! Very exciting! Thanks so much everyone for your questions - loved the chat and even had a giant American cookie at the same time so I've had a great hour! C. x

Ps - Extra Chat with Bruce Bodyblade – see his other previous Monday chats on ‘Bodyblade QVC’ facebook page

Bruce bodyblade chat 17th nov incl beach vid and lose 10lb in ten mins

I have a double meaning to my comment about how to lose 10 pounds in 10 minutes. I could also say "how to look like you lost 10 pounds in 10 minutes

If you are consistently doing your Bodyblade workout 3-4 days a week on a regular basis, if you changed nothing else in your diet, didn't lower your portion size, didn't count calories at all, you would still burn additional calories in your workout which would translate to approximately one pound a month!

But, let's take that a step further. The human body is very smart. The more you exercise, the better your body becomes at burning fuel, using calories for that fuel and losing weight. The mitochondria of the cell is the powerhouse of the cell and responsible for much of that. The more you talk to your body via exercise, the more you tell your body to be ready because I am going to workout, the more your body responds by saying "I'm ready to work and will get better each time". The same fuel or calories ingested by a person in shape, vs. a person out of shape will be used differently. The person in bad shape will store more fat calories ; the person in shape will burn more calories for fuel.

My second point is how to look like you have lost 10 pounds in 10 minutes. How many of you are sitting down by the computer or iPad right this moment with your stomach muscles totally relaxed, your postural muscles totally relaxed, round shoulders, bent over?

Well, now I want you to stand up or sit up tall. Tighten your stomach muscles, shoulders back and down, head up straight, not bent over and maintain the tension or tone in your muscles. Remember to breathe normally.

When you maintain good posture, add muscle tone to your tummy, FLATTEN your stomach as a habit, you notice that your waistline is slimmer, you appear taller, more in shape, younger and definitely more vital. We also know what an "old" person looks like, right? Bent over, slow to move, rounded shoulders, a pouched out tummy. I bet you could make yourself look like this in the mirror. Now, I want you to stand in front of the mirror, straighten up, tighten your stomach muscles, suck them in slightly and maintain that posture. How do you look? This can become your habit for adding tension or tone in your body. This is simply re-training your body to be more alert, more ready for action and this will help develop a better looking body that "automatically" assumes this posture and tone. In that way, you can transform your body from slouching to better posture, more vitality and looking younger and slimmer in minutes. Bodyblade helps keep that tone long term, without you needing to do it consciously. Make sense?

Good news is Debbie and I give you a cool preview of the new DVD workout coming in January in our beach workout!! (New DVD will be on Back to You show, & the Bodyblade is returning to QVC then too) You will be able to start adding to your Super 6 today!!!

I hope you enjoy our Super 6 on Marina del Rey beach. The concept is to add a little body movement for strength and flexibility in between each Super 6 exercise. This keeps the heart rate up, adds more strength and range of motion to the body, adds more time to the workout and burns more calories!!!! Enjoy! BH
